AlexsPajamaMama replied: Shop by age This is how I do it...at target.com and walmart.com you can shop by age group and check out the bestsellers for 12-18month olds. Little People are always a big hit for 1yr olds.
stella6979 replied: Books always seem to be a big hit, or maybe a little stroller and doll that she could push herself? Hmmm....megablocks, recordable microphone, My Little Ponies.
gr33n3y3z replied: Sorry hun I'm out of that loop also I'm sure what ever you get will be fine
Jamison'smama replied: Okay, it is a little more than 50 but this was the greatest thing Jamison ever had.
I liked a lot of stuff in the laugh and learn line---this is cute from that line as well.
And if she doesn't have a Ball Popper that is another great gift!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I HATED that thing!!! Not only is it loud, but the balls pop out of the top with such force that you have to chase them all over the room.
Baby dolls are good at that age, or blocks were always a big hit in our house.
Our Lil' Family replied: I recommend ANYTHING Leapfrog! They have wonderful educational toys. Fridge Farm was fun, as were the Letter Factory Fridge Phonics there is also a DVD that goes with it..... or one of the Leap Touch lap book things, Little Touch
stella6979 replied: And some kids like to stick their hand down the tube that the balls pop out of and get it stuck over and over and over.
seeingblue2 replied: When my son turned one he couldn't have cared less what he got since he was too young to understand so as Mom I would have loooooved clothes and diapers etc. for him kwim?
lisar replied: I agree. At that age they just dont care. I say buy a few books and some clothes. I would have loved that.
3_call_me_mama replied: A nice set of wooden blocks. Graham got a set for his first christmas. (he turned one about 2 months before) and he LOVES stacking the blocks and "building " wit them. Melissa and DOug has a really nice set all wood rounded corners so no sharp points. Also that fridge farm thing that someoen mentioned has been a huge hit in our house.
Teesa®© replied: Ummm... would that be YOUR children???
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Arms got stuck, even little cars! But it is a good toy. Just didn't last long in our house.
Melissa & Doug really does make a lot of great gifts for that age. Like wood shape sorters, things with pegs where you can stack blocks on the pegs. Wesley turned two in June, so we bought him their train made of different shaped blocks. I was also eyeing their wooden farm set, definitely over $50. They make a princess castle too. Like a dollhouse made of wood. We have an educational toystore in town where I just tell the clerk what age and she pulls out the popular toys for that age group. My kids always seem to go straight towards the play cash register too. Not the one with little coins (which is obviously not good for a one year old), but if you can find one with really big buttons and the drawer opens with a "ding".
ETA: Bath toys are always a huge hit for that age! Any kind. The bath paints are fun!
mckayleesmom replied: My kids LOVED the ball popper. We still have it actually.
