My latest project - pictures

PrairieMom wrote: I had been wanting to re-do my master bed room for about 9 months now, and finally got around to doing it. I have been working feverishly all week and this is the final result. what do you guys think?
I took 2 pics, one with flash and one with out. I didn't know which way the stripes would show up better. In real life the stripes are definitely noticeable, but they are very subtle. I still have to put up pictures and all that, but that will come at a later date. cool.gif

BAC'sMom replied: Love it Tara you did an AWESOME job thumb.gif

holley79 replied: HOLY COW I love it!! Your room is beautiful. I envy you Tara.

cameragirl21 replied: very nice, love the furniture, i love wood.

PrairieMom replied: tux.gif thankyou. tux.gif I am pretty proud of how it turned out. I was cussing myself when I was doing it tho. Why the heck can't I just paint a room one color and be done with it? everything I paint requires at least 5 rolls of tape. dry.gif (think nursery with hand painted flowers... rolleyes.gif ) I did learn a lesson tho, if you are going to try this, DO NOT mark the lines off with carpenters chalk. It doesn't vacuum out of carpet, and it blends with the paint, so I have a TON of touch up work to do. Most of my stripes have blue edges. growl.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: WOW, I LOVE IT! What is the difference in the paint? Is one satin and one semi gloss? It looks the same color but different gloss.

Calimama replied: Good job, it's pretty! I like the monster slippers in the left corner too! rolling_smile.gif

PrairieMom replied:
I painted the whole thing egg shell, then did high gloss stripes. It looks kinda cool IRL, like fancy wall paper or something.

Our Lil' Family replied: It really does look great. DH is actually painting as we speak....Thomas' bathroom. I want to show him the pics so badly but I know he'll just say, "One room at a time Naomi!" rolleyes.gif

PrairieMom replied:
blush.gif I missed those. laugh.gif I DID make Ben pick up his cowboy hat and leather cowboy vest off the middle of the bed for the picture tho. laugh.gif
You must do like I do, I like to look at peoples pictures for things that wouldn't normally be noticed, like dirty dishes on the counter or laundry in the corner. It makes me feel better about my own messy house. laugh.gif

CantWait replied: Love it Tara. Looks very relaxing. And who's devilish slippers are those I see??? blush.gif

Twelve Volt Man replied: Very sharp!

PrairieMom replied:
YOU PEOPLE QUIT SNOOPING UNDER MY BED!!!! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif
They are Ben's . He picked them out at old navy. I tried to talk him into the green ones, but only pink would do. laugh.gif

Our Lil' Family replied:
That's what my DH just said! He also said, "how hard would that be?" blink.gif

Calimama replied:
laugh.gif I didn't even notice them until I saw the second picture.. too stylish!

PrairieMom replied:
define "hard" unsure.gif definitely time consuming, and don't use chalk. what ever you do. It was easier than Ally's room, that took me 2 weeks to paint! This only took me 3 days. Including the time I spent on the master bath, but I didn't bother with stripes in there.

Our Lil' Family replied: He is concerned about getting the stripes straight. You used the chalk line that you snap? Did you just eyeball it or use a level? Ok, enough questions for the night.

PrairieMom replied:
I measured out every 8 inches on the top and bottom of the wall, then snapped a chalk line. All my lines came out very straight, and I only used a level for under the windows.
but, I wouldn't suggest using chalk, because it sticks to the paint under the tape and leaves a faint thin blue line on all the stripes edges that can't be washed off. I am going to have to go in with a detailing brush and touch up a bunch of the stripes. After the fact my Dh looked on line to see how professionals do it and they suggest using a laser level and a tri-pod.

C&K*s Mommie replied: That looks fantastic, Tara! thumb.gif

A&A'smommy replied: VERY pretty!!! thumb.gif
