Livestrong bands
Josie83 wrote: Does anyone have one of these? I've just ordered one for me and one for Jason, although whether or not he will actually wear his remains to be sen. Apparently 150'000 are sold every single day! I don't usually wear jewellrey of any description (except wedding/engagement ring obviously) but will make an exception for a good cause. Are they popular over in the US? xx
Mommy2Be replied: Hmm sounds neat but I have no idea what they are can you tell me what they are hehe thanks. Okay feeling kind of silly now for not knowing .
gr33n3y3z replied: My daughters have one They are really big in this area Plus they have a color for each cause Cancer is Yellow and Pink is breast cancer and it goes on.
jolene555 replied: Ummm, yah - those are huge here around St. Louis. There are folks walking around with 6 and seven on. Yellow is obviously the cancer one, pink is breast cancer, there's one for testicular cancer (blue), and some yellowish orange ones for troop support. Around here Hardees jumped on it and made red ones that said "Go Cards" and the proceeds went to some charity. On Ebay you can find some that simply say faith or hope or love. Like I said, they're huge.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Huge here, too. The first person to introduce them was Lance Armstrong. I've only seen the yellow ones. They sell them at my grocery store in the "Live Well" section. I think you can buy bags of 10 for $10 and pass them out to your friends.
Allyson&Patrick'sMom replied: I have one and so does my Husband....I ordered enough for the guys on his boat....140 guys! Almost all of them wear it.....
You can get them through the Lance Armstron foundation....

Mommy2BAK replied: They aren't that popular around here but I ordered 20 of them few months ago and I haven't even taken them out of the package yet.
I can't belive they sell that many! Thats great!
I do see them on tv stars all the time.
kimberley replied: i have never heard of them. gonna go check em out on ebay.
eta: ok, i looked and still don't get it. are they supposed to be good luck or something? i don't see how a piece or rubber or cotton can cure cancer. lol i know i am slow today.
Allyson&Patrick'sMom replied: Kimberly if you go to the link I posted above, you will see how the Money raised go to cancer research.....Lance Armstrong started the Foundation because of his battle with Cancer. It is not the rubber that cures the cancer. My Mother is a cancer survivor....thanks to the reasearch this foundation has funded!

kimberley replied: oh so it is like the yellow ribbons, right? that is interesting. i guess i shouldn't have been so facetious in my reply. i wasn't trying to insult anyone, i just didn't get it. thought it might be like those copper bracelets people wear that are supposed to fix health problems or something.
paradisemommy replied: they are semi popular over here - not as popular as in the states - i bought a bag of the cancer ones and also breast cancer ones..
Cary Lynn replied: They are pretty popular here in Michigan I know that and the Breast Cancer ones are too
3forme replied: They were really popular here for awhile. I had one but I stopped wearing it. My 12 year old wanted one and his dad got him one. Well, he broke it so I gave him mine, it is a little big, but he was happy. I have seen many different types...supporting troops, breast cancer, etc.
Have you all seen the car magnets? They are BIG here! The yellow ribbons are the ones I see the most.
chloe&tysmommy replied: hmmm that sounds neat....I have never heard of them before
loveydad replied: If they're what I'm thinking of, I have a blue and pink SIDS one.
loveydad replied: Oh yes! They're HUGE here too. You don't see more than 1-2 cars around here or in the big city that don't have them. Are misc cars have four of them!
texasp3 replied: The car magnets are HUGE here! (Dallas area) More cars have them then don't and MANY cars have multiple magnets. Michael and I saw a pick-up one day that had them covering the entire tailgate.
I didn't know about those bands though... have to check that out!
gr33n3y3z replied: You have to watch where you buy those wrist bands bc if you buy them at the dollar store no money goes to help out!! You need to get them from sneaker stores and etc. Unless you buy them from an org. like posted above
Josie83 replied: Sounds like they are pretty big over the pond. Ours haven't arrived yet xx
mommy2owen replied: Both the bands and the car magnets are VERY popular here (MD). A lot of the kids around here wear them. Not just the yellow ones, but the Support our Troops, and Breast Cancer, and a bunch of other ones too!
jcc64 replied: They are HUGE in ds' demographic, they ALL wear them. The 1st time I saw them was last year when my dad gave each family member one to wear (he passed away from cancer late last year). Everytime I see one, I think of him, so I'm happy to see that they've become trendy, and support a good cause at the same time.
A&A'smommy replied: um well I have never heard of them until now, thats pretty neat!
iluvmysweetiepies replied: They are huge here! Livestrong, breast cancer, support the troops, there are so many out there. My girls all have the livestrong ones. I have seen many kids wearing 2 or 3 at a time.
coasterqueen replied: I just saw someone with a yellow one on the other day. Now I know he wasn't just weird.
mommy2owen replied: My 15 year old sister and her boyfriend each have 6, and wear them all at the same time! I know a couple kids in the neighborhood that have a bunch and match them with their outfit for the day.
Josie83 replied: Lol KAren! xx
