Lightheaded and short of breath

hopefulmomtobe wrote: Hey guys - I have been really light headed and short of breath these past two days. Like - I can hardly stand for more then 5 minutes without feeling like I am going to pass out and if you hear me breath, you would think I just ran the marathon race. Do you think I shouldnt worry - I feel terrible, I keep yawning trying to catch my breath. ???

Danalana replied: Gosh, I don't have any experience, and you are on your 4th....but i read that it's normal. Have you read "What to Expect When You're Expecting"? I'm sure you have...anyway, it talks about being short of breath near the end, as the baby pushes against the diaphragm. I don't know about the light-headed, though I believe I read about that happening too. I'm sure that's not comforting. Call your doc if you're concerned, but i think it sounds pretty normal. Oh yeah, and go back to the part about me not having any experience.

boyohboyohboy replied: HI wendy! you are almost there!
it sounds normal to me too, with my last one, which was a larger baby, I had trouble breathing with even simple walking...
take it easy on yourself, and call your dr if it is causing you stress..
have a nice relaxing mothers day with your feet up..

hoosier momma replied: It's totally normal. Lack of air is from the baby pushing into your diaphram and lungs and thus causing a lack of oxygen in the body which is causing the lightheadedness. If it gets to the point that it is interfering with your normal daily activity I would call the OB.

hopefulmomtobe replied: Yea...I think you hit the nail on the head, it is starting to interfer with daily activity. I am trying to work and I have to walk around the office to get things signed off and what not, but I can hardly get from one place to another (large large building too) without getting winded...not just normal winded, but overally winded and breathing heavy and having to sit down because I feel light headed. I do think it is normal too, but I think I am feeling it more so for whatever reason, I guess because he is so big.

I go to the doctors Wednesday, if I feel the same I will ask them.

Thanks guys!!

Danalana replied: I think it's time for your leave of absence!

hopefulmomtobe replied:
Oh...I love you and the way you think!!!

Man, I really wish I could! I would love to sit at home on the couch eating crap food all day and calling my friends. LOL (that is exactley what I would do too!)

hoosier momma replied: During my last three weeks, I delivered two weeks past due, that it took every bit of my strength and air to walk from my office to the bathroom. I know how you feel.

Danalana replied:
Heck yes!
When do get to go on leave?

hopefulmomtobe replied:
I will find out at my doctors appt Wednesday. It probably wont be until I have the baby though unless I have complications that the doctor says I cant work. I only get a percentage of my paycheck though, and we need the whole percent unfortunetly, so really I need to be here. sad.gif

Danalana replied: sad.gif Dang it. Well, I hope the time passes quickly for you.

HSAE4 replied: I had that happen and it's weird that mine happened two day's in a row. I never knew what caused it. I just drank some juice and layed down. It could be iron level or blood sugar level. Other than that I'm clueless. I still have shortness of breath alot, but I think it's cause the baby is pushing on my lungs. When this happened did your vision become blurry cause thats what happened to me. I thought I was going to pass out.
