Katherine's First Birthday Party... - was an exhausting success
kit_kats_mom wrote: We had 20 people here to celebrate Kathrine's birthday yesterday. Mostly family and close friends. Her great grandma (my grandma) made her a birthday cake which she promptly smooshed into oblivion . She got LOTS of toys and books. Her favorite toys so far were a wooden puzzle with big knobs, the little people farm (she just loves the cow sound) and the Fantasia DVD. That dvd had her hyp-no-tized .
The party went off without a hitch except for the fact that my in-laws were going to be here by 3:30 and they got lost so we had to all hang out with nothing to do until 5:30. I just knew my MIL would be crushed if she didn't get to see Katherine's first cake since she drove from Illinois to see it.
Her actual birthday is tomorrow and we are going to the mall to get her pictures taken then she and I are going to spend the day doing her favorite things which include; swingin at the park, dancing and walking. I have a piece of cake that she and I are going to share in bed (I know it will be messy but I don't really care) first thing in the morning and I will take her naptime to write her a letter detailing her first year, how much she has accomplishd and how profoundly she has changed my life.
Anyway, here are a couple of birthday pics from yesterday.
kit_kats_mom replied: Here is the first pic. It shows the cake pretty well. That is a "K" on top and we had already taken the candle out. I also forgot to mention that my in-law issue was made much more palatable by the generosity of my aunt. She lives next door but she stays at her boyfriends house most of the time. She offered them the use of her house to sleep in which just takes alot of the stress off of me. They can have breakfast & coffee there, hang out and watch TV and come over when we call after we have woken up and gotten ready for the day. My aunt is a total saint!
kit_kats_mom replied: This is the cake destroyer Crap I forgot the pic...
kit_kats_mom replied: again
kit_kats_mom replied: It's a wonder she didn't float off with this thing. I sent her and DH to the store to get some balloons for the party and he came back with this. Totally ridiculous!
MommyToAshley replied: Those pics are great!
Looks like she had a great time and really enjoyed the cake! I am glad you aunt offered her house to the in-laws and you weren't as stressed!
I think the letter is a really neat idea, that will be sooo special to her when she gets older!
~CrazieMama~ replied: She looks so cute. Looks like she really enjoyed that cake..lol I like the idea of the letter. Great imagination...lol
Mommieto2Girls replied: Sounds like yall had a great time, have fun tomorrow.
kit_kats_mom replied: Nah! I got it from a mom on Oprah. She wrote a letter for each of her kids on their birthdays and gave them the letters when they got older. I'm thinking when she has her first baby. We'll see about that though...I've always been awful at keeping secrets. I just thought it was such a sweet idea.
DansMom replied: I love the photos!! Thanks for posting them. Your aunt IS a saint---what a great gesture. Did you get to watch the game?!

MomofTay&Sam replied: I am so glad Katherine had a wonderful day. I bet one of her favorite things to do is play with that ballon.
supermom replied: So glad it all went so well, even if it was tiring!! Sounds like a good start on her second year, for sure!!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: My Mom did this for me on my first b-day and I wrote Jade a letter on hers. I bought a journal and everytime something special in her life happens I'm ging to write in it. Her Daddy will do so as well. Katherine looked like she had a great time. Jade did the same thing to her cake. I should have some pics in the near future.
CantWait replied: How cute. I luv the ballon pic, I guess dh was just as excited about the party LOL
