I think there is a study video of an actual baby crying in utero. So yes, I think so.
redplaydoh replied: I've heard that they do too... I asked my OB the very same question and he just looked at me like I was nuts. My mid-wife said it has been known to happen when the baby is startled or stressed... but she said she wasn't 100% sure.

Boys r us replied: Yes they do Di! I remember getting one of my weekly preggo update emails and I think it was around 20 wks when it said that the baby could cry.
