Jessica Lunsford murder trial - Grrrrr!

amynicole21 wrote: Does everyone remember the Jessica Lunsford case? It was regarding a local girl, so maybe it wasn't as big in the news everywhere else. Anyway, a 9yo Florida girl was taken from her home by her sex-offender neighbor who confessed to raping her and killing her. sad.gif His confession is being thrown out because he asked for a lawyer and the police didn't get him one right away growl.gif If this guy gets off because of a technicality, there is really no justice in this world. sleep.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: NO NO!!! Oh God. I'm praying this man gets what he deserves. That poor family. sad.gif

Jackie012007 replied: is that the one where they saw him take her on videotape from a parking lot camera????

ugh sometimes the US justice system makes me ill sad.gif

amynicole21 replied:

No, this is different. He was an old man who had been released from prison for some crazy reason even though he was a sex offender. He buried her alive sad.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: ohmy.gif I remember this case. It was featured on Oprah. I hope he doesn't get off! That's just awful what he did to that little girl! sad.gif

TLCDad replied: Although the judge will probably tell them not to. I would imagine all the members of the jury know about his confession. So I would think they would keep that with them when they decide the case. Then again, I guess that could open the door for a miss trial or reasons to appeal. GRRRR!

Jackie012007 replied: yeah I just noticed your link... that is so disgusting... what the heck possesses people to do things like this? I almost cried when I read that she was clutching a stuffed animal etc... I live in NY and that case didn't really get very publicized up here huh.gif

I believe in protecting people who are possibly innocent, but the man confessed!!! Just convict him and give the family a sense of peace and justice! What a horrible crime sad.gif

I grw up very close to the place where Sarah Anne Wood was abducted and I actually knew her from school ... anyone remember that case? It was one of the first publicized cases of child abduction... we all lived in the country and our parents let us do whatever, but when that happened we all got locked in our houses... it's sad that we mothers have to worry about things like this happening to our children, as it happens too often nowadays bawling.gif

TheOaf66 replied: growl.gif ahh yes, our wonderful justice system. I hate things like that

Don't get me started on changes I would love to make

aspenblue1 replied: I remember this case well it was all over the news up here because I think it was her mother that lived around here. Poor girl. He needs to pay for what he did.

redchief replied: I don't think they need the confession to convict him. I'm disturbed that it got thrown out, but not because I think they need it for conviction. I'm disturbed because the police screwed up. I wish I could say the same thing would never happen here, but I can't. Somebody's head should roll.

Halo42101 replied:
It was Carly Brucia's kidnapping they caught on camera in the Parking Lot. I followed that story and Jessica Lunford's story as well. bawling.gif These men are just so sick... it's unbelievable!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: That was a very big story, even outside of Florida.
I read that article earlier today and growl.gif I still can not stop thinking about it!
Makes me angry and irritated!

luvmykids replied: ohmy.gif I definitely remember Jessica Lunsford bawling.gif

Its absolutely disgusting. growl.gif

eta: I absolutely agree with Ed, how basic is that? It's not exactly something to be treated as a "judgement call".

C&K*s Mommie replied: iagree.gif

There still is more than enough evidence to sentence him to death. Although he will still have a longer life on death row (if sentenced) than she had here on earth growl.gif , but his justice will come IMO in more than one way. dry.gif

I am grateful to have the US Constitution backing me up, and protecting me. But this is one more case where it has backfired, and the carelessness of the police to not get him the lawyer he requested has caused this uneeded drama for her father, and surviving family. sad.gif So sad, for them.

Grrrs.... to Couey growl.gif

Cece00 replied: I think they have enough physical evidence to convict him, despite the confession. Though I think its shameful that the police screwed that up. growl.gif

Nina J replied: I remember this case, it's tragic. I hope the guy get's what's coming to him, Jessica deserves justice sleep.gif

ashtonsmama replied:
dito.gif

What a sick man.

growl.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
iagree.gif

Yeah his if he gets off because of this and I run into him. growl.gif

I remember this case. I was still in Hawaii when it happened and I believe I was pg with Jordan. He's a very sick man and I'm pretty sure the Jury realizes that. He shouldn't have been out of jail in the first place. Someone should bury him alive. growl.gif Sorry guys, but I just don't have any tolerance for someone like this.

Ashlynn's Mommy replied: This is a child. What jury in their right mind's would not sentence this man to death even without his confession? That poor little girl. I hope he suffers a miserable death. wavey.gif

Brias3 replied: I hope that man gets what he deserves...that poor girl and her family sad.gif What a sick, sick world we live in.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: sad.gif God Bless that poor family! It makes me want to throw up when I really sit and think that there are people like this (if you watch Dateline MORE of them than I can wrap my head around) This Ba$%^&# will get his one day! I just pray it is in this life and the next! mad.gif

blink.gif I can not even begin to comment on 'his rights' He has none IMHO! Funny (odd and sick not HaHa) how he has total disreguard for human life but is crying foul to same his own disgusting hide! Give him to her parents, family, & friends...Let them be the ones to seek justice how they see fit- Whatever is left of him-bury that alive..... growl.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
I don't know the circumstances of this particular case, but I just watched a show where the suspect asked for a lawyer, but the police continued to question him in hopes of getting a confession and finding the victim alive. They knew the confession would be thrown out, but in this instance it worked and they did find the victim alive. Now, whether or not this was the case or if the police just screwed, up, I have no idea. But, just something to think about.

I am so sickened and saddened by this whole story. bawling.gif

Jamison'smama replied: That's what I heard about this case actually, that the police were trying to find her and didn't care at that point--they were hoping she was alive.
