It's what I want! - I'm excited!

GavinsMommy wrote: Okay, so I thought I wanted to get my Real Estate license so I could *potentially* down the road make really good money.

Well I was on the way to Publix tonight to get a pregnancy test and I was thinking...what if I'm pregnant? Then I'll have to stay home and I won't be able to work. Am I kidding? This is what I WANT to do. I love it!!! I love being here w/ my little man all day. So I was just thinking...well, what can I do from home to allow us to have an extra income and also so that we can have a few more kids, WHILE I stay home.

DUH LAUREN! MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION!! Some of them make 20 bucks an hour and some even more. The low end makes 10 an hour. Either way...it'd at least be an extra 20 grand a year and I can be home w/ my baby/babies. wub.gif That way I can do the work whenever I have the free time. And I type like a firecracker!!! I'm an internet junkie...I type anywhere from 80-100+ depending on what I'm doing (writing an email, copying something, etc. ) so this would be great for me. Only problem is I hear that usually you have to work in an office first before being able to work from home, but I bet if I were persistant enough I could...hopefully dry.gif I also heard that there is lots of competition, but I'm good and I'm a pet when it comes to things like that. rolleyes.gif I'd get a lot done since I type so quickly and with fairly good accuracy too. I usually don't make errors.

Then later after my kids are in school I could consider something outside of the home.

I think the general course length is 4-9 months. Or faster or slower depending on your speed. Is anyone familiar??

I think this might be something for me!! partydance.gif

mammag replied: I'm not familiar with it but if it's what you want to do I say go for it!

So did you take the test????

And????

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif WTG that's awesome that you know what you want to do! You could also do relastate from your home, I know a few people in where I live that do it! And did you take the test?

Josie83 replied: Good luck with that Lauren.

And I agree, will you take a test!!! laugh.gif xx

mommy2owen replied: good luck!! thumb.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I also considered this,,,however my mom has done it before and she liked it,,,but she does highly reccomend that you take a medical termonology course also. She has worked in the Emergency room since before I was born,,,so she knows...but she said it would benefit someone who hasn't and doesn't know the lingo...Just something to consider.

GavinsMommy replied:
Thanks for the advice. I took lots of college health courses in hs bc I was considering nursing, and we only used medical terms. happy.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: sounds good

did you take the PG test???? are you????

My2Beauties replied: Well my mother has done transcription before and she said it was fairly easy, most of the time you're not paid by hr though you are paid per line you type, back in the days when she did it it was an average of 7-10 cents per line, however I know it's more now! Maybe they went to hourly pay though I'm not sure! You could also do transcription for law offices as well. I know a lot of these places are starting to hire people just to do this because their secretaries and paralegals don't have the time, my friend works in a law office and she is the legal secretary and they had her doing them but she was using up so much time on them and not getting paid extra for it that she told them they either give her a raise or hire someone else, they're time consuming and evidently from what she says, they need people like that! It's a great start!

JessC replied: That sounds like fun! You should go now to college for sure! I am glad now that I am going instead of not going! thumb.gif I would have regret it later on.

I am going to be a psycologist (sp?) I have just decided this. I think it would be fun. tongue.gif

moped replied: GOOD LORD WOMAN - are you PG????????????

DVFlyer replied: My sister is a medical transcriptionist (god that's a long word) supervisor. I'd be happy to forward any questions you had about the profession to her. I'm positive she'd be happy to help... and possibly point you in the direction of a job.

I thought about doing this as well because I've heard people who do it enjoy it but the field is so saturated around here it wouldn't be worth it. For me I would need to make at least $20 an hour in order to consider leaving my job and working at home.

GL to you, it sounds like it would be the perfect job for you! thumb.gif

DVFlyer replied: The good thing about transcriptionists these days is that with advent of the internet, you don't have to work in the same state as the Dr's. My sister does all of her work over the internet. I don't know the technical aspects, but if my sister can do it, anyone can!

A&A'smommy replied: That is awesome hun!!! You will do GREAT!!!!

btw stop avoiding the question LOL are you pg? did you take the test?

Mommy2Be replied: thumb.gifthumb.gif WTG you'll do great.

MommyToAshley replied: That's great... it sounds like something that is perfect for you!

Sooooooo, Are you PG???? laugh.gif

GavinsMommy replied: Okay everyone...NO, I'm NOT pregnant!!! LOL!!! I kept meaning to respond, but "something came up". Lol...I FEEL pregnant though. I don't know if I took the test right either because that required 5 seconds was about two, at most 3...and it may be too early...I HOPE NOT THOUGH...I want Gavin to have his mum time wub.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I'm happy for you Lauren
If its what you want go for it smile.gif
