I'm stuck - Christmas present for Robbie

CantWait wrote: I've ordered Anthony's big gift from Air Miles yesterday (hopefully it's still in stock), an art easle.....

but I have no idea what to get Robbie this year. Ron says the PSP3 or whatever, but I'm trying to stear clear of any electronics this year. wacko.gif

ETA: He's 11....

mckayleesmom replied: Hmmmm...Hmmmm Hmmmmm.......

Do you have an amusement park or something near you.....Maybe a season pass to something.

mckayleesmom replied: Maybe some kind of class he has been wanting to take.....Karate, boxing....something like that?

CantWait replied:
Everything is at least 2 hours away, and they are not big enough for season passes.

All his extra curicular things are paid for automatically.

cameragirl21 replied: does he already have a bike, scooter, rollerblades, etc?
any fave sports he plays that you could buy stuff for?
I'm very big into encouraging kids to spend time outside instead of glued to their playstation like my godson who never sees the sun other than to go out to the car to go to school and then back again....

CantWait replied:
We just got him a new bike for Christmas, and we're saving the rollerblades till Easter, that way he doesn't have to spend all winter waiting and also that way they will still fit come summer. He's also not much into sports, but he already has a football, and a basketball.

I agree with you, that's why I'd really like to avoid get the PSP3.

mckayleesmom replied: How about......hmmmm......building him a clubhouse for him and his friends to hang out in... thumb.gif

mckayleesmom replied: How about a beginners toolbench...so he can start to learn a craft....woodworking or something.

cameragirl21 replied: Sorry, Marie, I'm thinking of Christmas and winter here in Miami...if I recall correctly, you're up in Canada, no?
Hmmm, what are his interests, outside of video games?

CantWait replied:

Interesting idea Brianne, I'll have to sneak around that and see if it's something he would be interested in.

cameragirl21 replied: hmmm, what about a science kit or one of the architecture building kits? Do you think he'd like a telescope or a microscope or a bug house (as a smaller present) or something to that effect?
Of course I'm partial to the digicam but then again, consider the source.... wink.gif laugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: How about a chemistry set...???

CantWait replied: Now we're getting somewhere, those are great ideas. Keep em coming if you can think of anything else. I want to keep my options open.

cameragirl21 replied: is your area good for cross country skiing or snow shoeing?
those are the sorts of presents I'd want if I lived up north and given the fairly long winter and the deep snow....

gr33n3y3z replied:
I have an idea ok run lol

Why not get him a few frogs and a tank to put them in and all the stuff you need to take care of them. this way he can play with them and take care of them

CantWait replied:
Lisa I appreciate your idea more then anything in the world, but I'm jog.gif jog.gif jog.gif jog.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

mom2my2cuties replied:
I like this idea - Also at Michaels they have these things where you can make wood burning and stuff like that - it's great fun. Or what about something like Robot building?? that was something my big kid got into a few years ago. We actually ended up making one.

Also when I was about 11 - I remember thinking that making leather belts and things like that were cool. Or rather custom designing them with my name and whatever else I could find.

I also like the Chemistry set idea - I am all for things that are educational as well as fun smile.gif
