I'm so MAD

~Roo'sMama~ wrote: at myself, and at horrible people. dry.gif I stupidly forgot my diaper bag in the cart at wal-mart tonight - I didn't remember it until we got to Target and by the time Dh got back to walmart to look for the diaper bag it was gone. We looked forever but couldn't find it.
My wallet with my check card, drivers license and social security card ohmy.gif was in it, and my WIC vouchers and a $50 dollar bill that my sister gave me awhile back for mad money that I was going to spend tonight on a high chair. bawling.gif

We just got home a little while ago and Dh looked on our online banking statement and there were already $1000 of charges on my card. sad.gif We've called the bank to cancel the card and report the charges and Dh is talking to the police now - I'm sure nothing will come of that though.

I'm a little worried about the fact that my social security card was in there. unsure.gif I don't know why I was stupid enough to have it in there. sad.gif I don't know what to do about that I don't want my identity to be stolen!
I'm just so upset about this whole stupid thing. bawling.gif bawling.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: Oh no! I really hope that you can get things straightened out and that they find who took the bag. So sorry hon. sad.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Ava replied: yea ime sorry to hug.gif i have left my purse and had it taken so i know how you feel, i hope they catch who took your bag hug.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Mean people suck. That is about all I can say Sara. I am so sorry that someone stole your diaper bag. I hope the bank at least rectifies the situation. And call the social security office first thing monday morning. hug.gif

jacobsmama replied: That is a terrible thing to steal someones stuff and then use it like that... hug.gif I'm so sorry this has happened to you. We have all left our purse/diaper bag before unfortunaltly this happnes but these days you can't trust anyonoe further than you can throw them and that is just an awful thing. sad.gif

SOUTHERN MOMMY replied:
Actually Sara if it was a visa all you have to do is sign a statment that it was stolen and when and you will have all your money back in just a few days. I'm so sorry that this happened to you it happened to me about 8 mo. ago. I hope that this all works out for you. hug.gif

5littleladies replied: I'm so sorry Sara. hug.gif I'm just sick over this. sad.gif

Jamison'smama replied: Being a victim of identity theft and having things on my credit report 5 years later---it is AWFUL to try to clear up, my first and most important recommendation is to contact the 3 major credit reporting agencies and put a fraud alert on your credit account. That means that no one can take out a credit card in your name without first contacting you. The only downside to you is you can't get "instant credit" at department stores etc. but it can save you a MAJOR headache down the road. I think now if you contact one, they may be able to alert the other reporting agencies but I would do that TODAY!

So sorry that happened!

SOUTHERN MOMMY replied: Sara was it a credit card or like a check card from the bank?

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
It was my Visa check card - the guy at the bank filed a claim for me last night so I'm pretty sure I'll get that money back. It will take awhile though and the money they spent is going to make us overdrawn. dry.gif The bank said we won't have to pay overdraft charges either but it still makes me so mad.

kimberley replied: sleep.gif i'm so sorry hon. i can understand how violated you must feel. i hope they catch the jerks. hug.gif hug.gif

mummy2girls replied: OMG! some people just have no heart! Im so sorry this is happening to you!

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
I never would have even though of that, thanks Brenda! I don't care about not getting instant credit at stores i never apply for those anyways because my credit was already not good - I've been on a debt repayment program for a few years. rolleyes.gif It was just starting to get better though so it would really suck to have it screwed up again. wacko.gif

Ok so just to be sure, by credit reporting company you mean like Equifax or TransUnion?

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Just a little update - Dh called the bank to find out where and when the 2 charges were made. One was for $586 at a grocery store and the other was for $430 at the same wal-mart we lost the diaper bag. Both were made within one hour of when we lost it - apparently they went to the grocery store and a half hour later went back to wal-mart. dry.gif

Something that really gets me is the exact time of the walmart purchase puts them spending my money then leaving wal-mart at the same time as Dh and I were standing by the doors trying to figure something out with me crying my eyes out. So those people probably walked right past us. sad.gif

Oh and my diflucan and Roo's nystatin were in the diaper bag too so now I have to wait until tomorrow to get a new prescription - just when I was starting to notice an improvement in my thrush. sleep.gif

On a positive note though, the police Dh talked to were really helpful and are going to look at wal-mart surveillance tapes today - and once the name of the grocery store they went to shows up on my statement they can go there too. I don't know if they will catch them or not but at least they're trying. thumb.gif

Jamison'smama replied:
Exactly! I don't care about instant credit either so I just keep the fraud alert on there most of the time. If you call the 800 number--there will be prompts leading you to the fraud alert--everything is automated but it works.

A&A'smommy replied: OH hun things like that happen all the time I'm sure they will be able to fix it Its amazing I never did that I have such a bad short term memory and I ALWAYS left my stuff in alyssa's diaper bag... anyway keep us updated but I'm sure it will be okay!! hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

mckayleesmom replied: People are such jerks sometimes....Sorry girlie...I hope they catch the heartless creeps.

amymom replied: hug.gif hug.gif

CantWait replied: I'm so sorry. I know it doesn't help, but just try and remember what incredibly desperate jerks they must be. Please keep us updated sad.gif hug.gif

huggybugboy replied: I'm so sorry hun! hug.gif hug.gif The Christmas Karma will forever haunt those creeps!! wink.gif

3xsthefun replied: I'm so sorry hear that. hug.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I am so sorry, it is so sad that people have to steal others stuff. I really hope they catch those idiots and hope everything works out! hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: so sorry this happend might I also suggest you contact your renters/homeownera agent to see if they offer identy restoration, we sell it $40 a year and we hire the lawers to do the work up to $25,000! might be worth looking into, might not cover things now but would if something drastic happens.
