I'm completely miserable

Danalana wrote: In the middle of the night, two of my teeth started hurting. I haven't had a toothache in YEARS. They're on the same side, but one is on the top and the other is on the bottom. The pain is radiating to my head on that side...even my eyeball bawling.gif I happened to have half a lortab, so I took that. My mother gave me one for cramps last time because it was really bad. I only took half of it, so I still had the other half. OMG, it's not really working, and I am ready to cry.
And here's the kicker...I quit my job right before I had Kade, and so I now have no dental insurance. I didn't think anything of it, because I have NEVER used the dental insurance in the 7 years that I had it. If it doesn't get better, I will have to go. The last time I went to a dentist, I had a terrible experience, so I haven't been back. Does anybody know the policy for going to the dentist with no insurance? Have any of you done that?

my2monkeyboys replied: I hate to hear you're in pain - tooth aches really suck. hug.gif
I am in the same boat as far as not having dental insurance. Here you just have to pay when you go in for services. You may could call and ask if you can split the cost into 2 payments or something like that, but most of the time they won't do that unless you are a regular patient.
It sounds like a check-up in certainly in order though - it could be a piece of something hard stuck between your teeth, and cracked tooth, a cavity that has finally reached the nerve... either way I'd get in as soon as possible.
Hope you feel better soon!!! hug.gif hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Dana there are clinic in tuscaloosa for people without insurance and its prorated so you ONLY pay what you can and if needed you can pay in payments. I have heard they are WONDERFUL. hug.gif I hope you feel better!!

stella6979 replied: I don't know anything about the policy for not having dental insurance, but just wanted to give you some great big hug.gif hug.gif . I hope you're feeling better soon.

MommyToAshley replied: I'm sorry. hug.gif

We have no dental insurance and we pay for the services as we go. I've been going to my dentist for years so he would let me pay installments if I needed to but I usually just like to get it out of the way. Ashley's dentist is the same way.

The thing about teeth and dental pain is that it won't get better until you go, so the longer you put it off, the worse it is going to get. Even if it starts to feel better, there still may be some damage that will get worse over time and need a more costly procedure if you put it off. It's best just to make the appointment and go. If you don't like your dentist, it might be a good time to try a new dentist. Hope you feel better soon. I hate dental pain, I think it's up there with labor, maybe even worse.

lisar replied: I am sorry your in pain. I dont anything about the policy for no dental. But it sure sounds like you need to go.

mammag replied: Definitely get in there. At ours they do make you pay with each visit. I have insurance but anything over we have to pay that day.

Hope you get it taken care of and are feeling better soon. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Danalana replied: I called and they had some openings for today. She asked if I wanted to come in this morning or in the afternoon. I made an appointment for 12:30, because I wanted to give Kade time to get a good nap before I take him to my MIL's. But oh man, it is killing me! I can't take anything until about 11:15. I took 3 tylenol and half of a lortab at 7:15. I really don't think it has helped.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Sounds really dumb, but have you tried baby orajel?

i just had a crown put in on tuesday. Yuck. And it's only a temporary one, a metal one.. i have to go back on november 10th for them to remove this one and have the porcelain one put in.... with the cleaning, xrays etc... i had to spend about 1700$ all in all... insurance covers half the crown, the xrays and the cleaning.. so from that I get about 1200 back, but I have to pay it before I can get it back... ugh.

dental stuff sucks.

Calimama replied: Oh ouch! I hope you feel better soon hun. hug.gif hug.gif

Danalana replied:
Yeah, I've used baby orajel about 4 times now. If helps slightly, but not much. And it doesn't touch the head and eye pain. Thanks everybody...Kade woke up and I am about to take him to MIL's and head to the dentist. Please pray that it goes well. When I say I had a bad experience, I mean bad. I am nervous, too, about him poking around when it hurts so much. I'll update when I can.

My dads dentist is great about payment plans, he usually wants about half up front and then a credit card he can automatically bill the balance to, usually over three months.

DillsMommy replied: You poor thing. Hope you get some relief soon! hug.gif

My2Beauties replied: wacko.gif Oh geez I hate Dental Pain hon sad.gif I'm so sorry. I know most offices make you pay up front that day, but some will accept installments. I hope it's nothing major. KUP!
