If you could go back to school

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: Okay, I know we're ALL busy people...but if the cost of tuition, plus the time to actually do it, didn't matter let's say, what would you study if you had the opportunity to go back to school? Or what would you want your degree in?

I already have my BA, but I have been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do when the kids go off to school. Sometimes I think about going back to what I used to do which was in marketing and events, because it's what I know, but other times I want to start something completely new. Perhaps get my MBA or try something like Culinary School! I love to cook and I'm obsessed with watching the Food Network, but I don't have a huge desire to work in a restaurant kitchen, kwim? blush.gif I want to learn to cook exquisite foods and getting paid for it would be awesome! But that means I would definitely have to go back to school for it. tongue.gif Hmmmmmmmmm bigthink.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I am going to go back to school. I've been thinking a lot about it. wink.gif I would LOVE to do photography (or culinary school biggrin.gif ) BUT, I've recently had a strong tug in my heart to go back to school for an elementary ed degree. I so enjoy working at school with Maddie's class on Fridays. I think I would love being a teacher and I never thought I'd say that. laugh.gif

Mom2Boyz replied: I AM going back this summer thumb.gif I wanted to do something with photography, but there is nowhere around here that offers it. My next choice was respritory therapy (I know 2 totally different things). I have to take a math class and a biology class this summer before I can even appyly for the RT program though.

amynicole21 replied: I keep thinking I would love to go to nursing school. I've looked into it a few times, I just can't imagine committing to that much time right now wacko.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I would love to go back to school and become a teacher. I know that won't happen because I work full time and there is no way I am spending my nights at school when I can be spending them with my daughter.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: WTG for those already going!! clapsmiley.gif But for those like myself who are on the fence...I say we GO FOR IT!!! Well, that is IF we get the time and money of course...I'm not sure if that's possible for me right now...but one can dream, right! woohoo.gif I just feel the urge to be educated again! My brain feels like it's in a slump sometimes! snooze.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I know what you mean. wacko.gif This is just how I feel.

coasterqueen replied:
Same here...or ever for that matter, lol. I'm too lazy to commit to that. BUT I am thinking of going back to school as soon as the girls are a bit older. My main reason I want to go back to school is just to stimulate my mind. I really absolutely despise school and homework but I enjoy the stimulation and need that. So when the girls are a bit older I will, maybe to get a masters in association management. Who knows.

CAMSMOM1 replied: I know that I really want to go back to school. I am so close to getting my AA. My major in college was Child Development/Pshycology. Both really interest me. I have over 20 units in C.D. classes. And I've taken 6 Psy. classes. I also took a few ASL (amer. sign language) and did really well in that. And of course the basical, general ed like English, Art, History I completed. So I'm really close to at least getting my AA. (I dropped out when I got pg w/Cam) rolleyes.gif

Since I work with children now, I would like to get my Bach. in Early Child Development, and be an administrator/director for a school. That would be my ultimate job. wub.gif

I also love public speaking, and working for my church. I've thought about being a youth pastor. (on the side) If I had lots of time, in my dreams, I would get my BA in Early Ch. Dev, and then a degree in religious studies. wink.gif

zdk753 replied: I would love to go to school to be a vet tech. It's just finding the time to actually do it.

CAMSMOM1 replied:

I think you'd make a great nurse. wub.gif And nurses are in such high demand, many hospitals will actually pay for your books, tuition, and give you a bonus signing contract if you work for them after nursing school. There are a lot of perks, and because of the high demand, they try to make it as easy as possible for you. I know here, there is a waiting list for the nursing program, just because there are not a lot of Nursing Teachers...to teach the courses. So that's another field you could get into after you get your degree. wink.gif I could totally see you as a nurse. smile.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: wub.gif I have always said, I would go to dental hygeine school. you get paid a lot (at least around here) and you only work 4 days a week sometimes 3, and you have holidays off, and most of the dr's set you up with health insurance and 401 k as well as a share of their profits for the year....
I went to nursing school and wish someone would have mentioned to me back then about manditory over time, weekends and holidays. it sure is tough with kids. and with what you are exposed too......its just dangerous now a days.

PrairieMom replied:
I say go for it. biggrin.gif When you graduate you can have my position here! laugh.gif I know that it is totally not for me, but I always tell people that if you want to work in a hospital RT is the way to go! All the benefits of direct patient care without all the crap nurses have to deal with! Have you job shadowed or anything? PM me if you have ?'s!

PrairieMom replied: My dream job is to be a SAHM, and I pretty much have it! although, if I HAD to work, I always would have loved to be a High school band teacher.
