I wonder what else I have missed out on...

Danalana wrote: I hate coleslaw, so I naturally always assumed I hated cabbage. Well, here in the south, boiled cabbage is a favorite, and I always steered clear of it. I tried it this weekend and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten! I am in LUUUUV!! Just goes to show you that you should try new things...there's my lesson to you for today thumb.gif

grapfruit replied: I try things I don't like all the time, just in case. I'm working on tomatos. I can eat little bits of them now. smile.gif

Tim LOVES tuna salad. And I don't. LoL He gets it a lot at Penn Station (sub place) and every now and then I try it to make sure I still don't like it. Yup, still think it's gross!!!

Now fried cabbage....I've never even HEARD of a thing!

Danalana replied: Lol, you're awesome! If I didn't like something in childhood, I just hang onto that, but I guess I should step out and try.
Does this mean you don't like fried green tomatoes? They are FABULOUS and don't tast anything like a ripe tomato...seriously, you should try it. I wouldn't lie to you! Doooooooooo it.

Danalana replied: Somehow I double posted!

grapfruit replied:
I seriously will! smile.gif I'll let you know! Where do you find "Green Tomatos"? I always just see red at the store unsure.gif I planted 3 tomato plants, so we might just have to wait biggrin.gif

Danalana replied: Do yall have people who sell produce in your city/town? Most of them will have them. If not, just wait for yours. You just slice them like normal...salt them and then coat with flour and a tiny bit of meal (mixed with the flour). Fry them in a little vegetable oil and butter. WONDERFUL!

holley79 replied: I always try to try something new. I have been very good about this since having Annika. I never say anything is gross in front of her.

mckayleesmom replied: I use to be a cabbage hater too....but dh makes it so yummy....He fries up bacon and then throws the cabbage in the greese and mixes it together while it cooks...YUM.

grapfruit replied:
We have a lot of farmers, so yeah, but I think it's a bit early for tomatos right now. Even green ones! smile.gif

Danalana replied: Yeah...we've got some small ones growing right now smile.gif I can't wait! I love tomato sandwiches...MMMM!

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Mmmmm...that sounds really good!

grapfruit replied:
See, now you have me all excited. smile.gif I can't wait for my plants to start producing!! smile.gif

Danalana replied: smile.gif Woooohooooo!!

Swood75 replied: MMMMMM...Corned beef and cabbage is yummy!! And I LOVE tomato sandwiches..I have been craving them like crazy...We have a BUNCH of little green tomatoes right now and I can't wait til they turn red..I don't like fried green tomatoes (and I have tried them)...Casey,you can buy some that are already breaded in the frozen veggie section at Wal-mart... wink.gif

Danalana replied: What?! I'm learning all kinds of things today!

PrairieMom replied: SOUR KRAUT!!!!!!! yummy! laugh.gif

Danalana replied: My aunt MAKES sauerkraut and cans it...it is AMAZING! My mouth is watering now, thanks to this stupid thread. *shakes fist at person who started it*

A&A'smommy replied: wow now I want some fried green tomatos and sauted cabbage which btw is WONDERFUL with onions.

my2monkeyboys replied: I also love cabbage cooked with chunks of smoked sausage.... yummy!!!
I've actually never tried FGT, but I plan on it this year.
Anyone else here like fried pickles? Those are very good, too.

A&A'smommy replied:
mmmm I LOVE fried pickels!!!

Danalana replied: Oh heck yeah!

My3LilMonkeys replied:
I have to say, I've never liked saurkraut at all - but after helping my parents make it a time or 2 and seeing how it's done, it's even more gross to me!!

Celestrina replied: Fried pickles? huh.gif Never heard of that. What type of pickles do you use and how do you fry them?

Danalana replied: we use the dill slices. just flour and fry!
