I saved a 2 year old's life!

I did not know if this child normally had them or not and I knew there was nothing that you can really do to help except keep the child safe. So I didn't really do anything because they seemed to have everything under control. They were on the phone with 911 to get help and the operator told them to keep him on his back and protected to not hurt himself, but then he threw up and started turning blue. I heard the Director telling 911 that he was turning blue so I ran over and saw him laying flat on his back still so I quickly rushed in and turned him on his side and the teachers were telling me 911 wanted him on his back, but they didn't tell 911 that he was chocking on his throw up...I think I rushed in so quickly that they didn't even have time to get the next step from 911....but after I turned him on his side and cleared his mouth out, he started gargling - like he was trying to breath and then started shallow breathes and trying to cry. It was soooo sad and tramatic! It was less then 4 minutes and the Fire Dept rolled up to take over.
I do not know how he is doing now, last I heard he was still in the hospital but I will see if I can get an update on him.

luvbug00 replied: WTG with the smart quick thinking!!!
MoonMama replied: How horrible! WTG fast thinking!
boyohboyohboy replied: thank goodness you were there wendy! now, do you still want to take jake there?
CantWait replied: Thank God you were there. I'd be concerned with the fact that the staff didn't know what to do. That's all part of a standard 2 day first aid / cpr course here.
luvmykids replied: Ditto, you were definitely in the right place at the right time, thank goodness!
Calimama replied: Me too!
Anyway I'm glad you were there.
julesmom replied: That is scary that the staff didn't know what to do.
Anyone having a seizure should be put on their side. I don't know if that is new or what, but my ds has epilepsy and that is what we were instructed to do. On his side, nothing in his mouth, and make sure nothing is near him that he could hit and get hurt by.
A&A'smommy replied: omg that is scary!!!! Thank goodness you were there!!!
Crystalina replied: Do they not have common sense?

Boo&BugsMom replied: WTG Wendy! I hope he's doing ok.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Wow WTG I woudl be re-thinking if I wanted to leave my child there.
