I have no idea...

She hasn't asked for anything (other than an ipod touch)
So, I go back and forth on what to get her. Still not sure about the Ipod touch. I know she'd be responsible with it and follow our rules with it, just not sure she is old enough yet. I'm not sure upgrading from a DSlite to a DSi is worth it. If she didn't already have the DSlite then I would definitely get her the DSi and not have a second thought... just not sure the upgrade to the latest model is worth the money. I thought about gettting her the sewing machine, but not sure how much she'd use it.
She is really into music, but she has an ipod already, an i-dog, has karaoke games (like sing-it and American Idol, etc). She is already taking piano lessons.
The only "toy" that she still plays with is probably Polly Pockets and Legos. I did get her the lego community workers set, but she really doesn't need any more legos. I am probably going to get her some Polly Pocket items, like maybe the Polly Pocket Rollercoaster. But, then I read all sorts of reviews that it falls apart so easy, I am not even sure about that.
I just have no clue... HELP!
Jamison'smama replied: Is she into American Girls?
I am getting Jamison a docking station for her Ipod, gymastics mats, American girl stuff and if I can find a decent video camera that runs on an SD card I will get that too. Then she's getting some little stuff (bop it, Liv Girl stuff, music etc,)
coasterqueen replied: Does she like to play school? My girls LOVE to do that so they are getting a new chalkboard, dry erase board, stuff to go with that, and then the Pretend Play School set.
Kylie is also getting a video camera and tripod because she loves making movies.
bluebear replied: I know that GameStop has a deal if you trade in your old DS you can get a discount on the DSi. Well if you trade in the DS you get store credit and she can get a new game with it. What about some movies? I know Up just came out on dvd. at Michaels there are lots of girls activity packs on sale; ceramic magnet painting, jewelery making, little sewing machines, 30 pc art set on sale for $2.
luvmykids replied: How about a digital camera and some scrapbooking software?
mom21kid2dogs replied: Are there any concerts in the late Winter/Spring that she'd be into? We got Olivia Cheetah Girl tickets one year and she was over the moon.
amymom replied: I was going to suggest an experience rather than some thing. Like a trip and under the tree she get books and a journal that relate to it so she has something to do on Christmas day. Or a musical instrument she may be ready to learn, and hasn't thought to ask for... and then lessons or videos that teach the instrument.
Good luck.
bluebear replied: How about a High School Musical piano book?
MoonMama replied: I am sitting in the same boat Dee Dee. Brae has seriously asked for nothing!! Well the only thing he has asked for is a big boy bike, but Nana and Papa are getting him that.
He always wants cars & trucks but really I think 4,000,000 is pretty much the limit for this house.
He is REALLY into dogs/cats/animals so I did get him a Littlest Pet Shop set from Sam's Club last week, I wish they weren't so girlie but eh he wont care and I don't really either.
Other then that and a couple cars/trucks sets I have NOTHING for him, I tried taking him to Toys-R-Us and hoping he'd get the "I wants" and....nope nada.
I hope you figure something out soon!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Has she ever gone to any theatrical productions? My niece was in the Cincinnati Children's Theatre (might be too far, though) does your area have anything similar? Columbus does lots of productions yearly. They also have lots of lessons that short and longer term. I also thought of those paint your own pottery places. Olivia loves those. Tye Dye kit? Yeah, it's 4:30 am and I'm awake and shopping for Ashley!
jcc64 replied: I think you've already gotten some good suggestions. I think Monica's idea about the scrapbooking software sounds like a good one--Ashley seems like the type of kid that would enjoy that. I think tix for musical theatre productions are also a good idea. That's what my mom is getting Corey for Christmas--we're going to see a ballet of the Nutcracker, and last year, we went to The Lion King on Broadway. Corey LOVED that. We're doing a bunch of little things here. We were going to get her a practice bar for gymnanstics, but we don't have a basement, and I really don't want to deal with vaccuuming around it for the rest of my life. So we're getting Corey a few Liv dolls, Moxie girls, and the Barbie camper thingie. She likes to "design" clothing, so I'll get her a fashion game for the ds and a cheap little light table so she can trace her drawings. Corey also loves her mosaic kits--they're a lot like paint-by-numbers, except instead of paint, there are little peel and stick foam squares. You can find them online or in educational toy stores. Part of me feels a little sad when my kids can't think of anything they really need or want for Christmas--I'm thinking that means they already have too much. There's no pressure to go over the top in that case, kwim? As long as she has boxes to open, she's not going to know how much you did or didn't spend, right?
MommyToAshley replied: I don't think it's that she has so much... well, ok, she has more than I ever did, but I think it's because she's starting to get out of the toy phase. (which makes me just as sad) She's really just into music, dance and soccer. Well, she does like the computer, consoles, and she likes board games (especially strategic games like checkers), but there's only so many games that are of any value. I just remember playing with Barbies at her age, and she's just not into that. She's not really into the American Girl dolls like a lot of her friends. She does still like Polly Pockets, and I picked up a few of those as presents.
She's gone to see a few children's plays. And, we are going to see the Nutcracker together, but we usually do that every year and I never really thought about making it a present. She also participated in the children's theatrical workshop and really liked that. I'll have to see if they have more classes like that available, maybe I will make that a present.
I'll also have to check to see if there are any concerts coming this way that she might be interested in. I had thought about getting her tickets to see Hanna Montana around the time of her birthday, but I wasn't going to pay $400 per ticket.
We've debated about a nice digital camera/camcorder or going with the I-touch. I am sure she'd enjoy either of those, but I am leery of spending that kind of money on something that can be broken so easily at this age.
Thanks for the ideas.
luvmykids replied: I got Nikka a good digi cam a few years ago, a Sony, for about $80. I don't remember exactly which model, and it was nothing more than a point and shoot but it took great pics. I ordered it on overstock.com, you may want to check them out.
