I give up - no gifts this year
mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: I am seriously ready to throw in the towel for gift buying this year!! I'm so mad you guys, I want to curl up in a ball and forget Christmas! You guys are sick of me talking about my search for a Wii, but to add to that, get this....
I ordered this special book for my FIL back in NOVEMBER from this unknown book site. They had it for a really great price, blew Amazon out of the water. Well it has been a few weeks, still no shipment and no charge on my card. No email. So I call CS today and they say "the publisher is no longer releasing the book, won't get it until maybe January". So I cancelled the order and now I have NOTHING for my FIL but a framed pic of the boys.
And another one...DH ordered these really nice embroidered stockings from Pottery Barn last week. Expensive, but we figured they will last us a lifetime. Well they show up just a minute ago and half of our names are NOT centered!! So now I'll have to return them and I'm sure I won't get them back in time for Xmas.
I'm done. Seriously, I give up. What happened to the days when you go in a store and they have everything IN STOCK, REGULAR PRICED? I'm sick of it.
luvmykids replied: I can't believe they didn't notify you about the book, that is terrible cs!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Yeah, don't I know it. The woman on the phone said "didn't you get an email notification?" Uh, nope. Then she went on about how their email system is acting up...blah blah blah. So I asked, how will I even know my order is cancelled is the system is down, and she said she would email me herself. But still no email confirmation. Ugh.
Calimama replied: Gifts aren't what's important anyway. The fact that you tried so hard means a lot more.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: That would make me scrooge too, Rae. Sorry things aren't going your way.
gr33n3y3z replied: that stinks hun Sorry
Anthony275 replied: well the picture of the kids would be perfect, i dont think your father in law would want anything other than a picture of his grandchildren
boyohboyohboy replied: rae, my sister just got a job as pottery barn kids district manager, i emailed her and asked her if you have any other recoarse then to send them back..she should email me tonight..
kimmylyn replied: I hear you on the bah humbug feeling.. I say every year how commercial the whole holiday is anyway. But I think the picture is a great gift and will mean so much more because it is so personal.
I know that does not help.. but try to cheer up.. think about the boys on Christmas Eve night.. that excitement keeps me going..
A&A'smommy replied: I'm SO sorry honey!!!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
You are so RIGHT! Thanks for cheering me up.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's like this for me every.single.year. And Scotty wants to know why I don't wait until the last minute to buy stuff.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I've always shopped early so I've never experienced this problem! Is there anyway that you could still order the book for you FIL from Amazon? As for the Stockings we bought some about 4 years ago from a Dollar Store in Duluth MN and bought some sparkle glue and wrote the names on them ourselves. They are very durable and have lasted 4 Christmas's. As for the Wii, I was watching the news and it's next to impossible to find. All you can do is Google it and hopefully someone will have it. The new Harry Potter Movie has already sold out here, it's a good thing we preordered, but it was just a week ago when we did that. I wish you luck in finding everything you need!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I found the book for my FIL for $38, but they are selling it on Amazon for $150 something, Ebay is $183!! I don't get it. Figures the website I found it cheap doesn't actually have it in stock, although the site said they did. They don't go finding it until AFTER you order I guess. Lame.
I have signed up for wiitracker, so they will text me when one comes in the stores. Plus I keep checking their site which lists them when they are available online. They had them on Amazon for $250 last night, but sold out in minutes. Again, I won't pay over the retail price. Today I went to Target first thing and bought DH the Zelda game for Wii. At least he will have something to open, and I think I'll add a Best Buy gift card so that he can get the Wii after Xmas, hopefully we can use some coupons with it.
My parents ordered the new Harry Potter DVD for DH a few weeks ago. So hopefully that will show up so that he has something to be surprised about.
