I feel so bad... - I guess I've been slacking on mommyhood

Hillbilly Housewife wrote: I read Emilie a story last night, and read Zach 2 storybooks last night. After i was done, he asked me why I wasn't reading to him. I told him that I was reading to him right now - he said that no - I couldn't read before because Naomie wanted milk bawling.gif

I didn't realize I'd been slacking off so much on story time... and I hadn't realized that he'd been so attached to the storytime before bed... Made me feel so cheap. Daddy's been putting the kiddos to bed pretty much since N's been born, that's just how it happened... cuz I've been stuck on the couch nursing away most evenings... lol

I guess we'll adjust bedtime for the kids so that I can keep reading them a story or 2 before bed, after N is done nursing...

A&A'smommy replied: awwww hun you haven't been slacking you have been adjusting to have a newborn, it will get easier and they will get their storytime because I can tell mommy enjoys it too!!! hug.gif hug.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: It is not too late to continue with the bedtime routines that were present before Naomi~~ but now you may be able to include Naomi in it. She may be asleep by the time the kids go to bed, but at least she will be there.

Can you nurse N while reading them a story? That's what I did with the girls, especially while DH was gone in Louisiana.

ammommy replied:
That's what I did, too.

kit_kats_mom replied:
That's what I did/do too. DH gives K her bath then she comes out after getting dressed & sits next to Lauren and I on the couch. I read her two or three stories then DH puts her to bed.

coasterqueen replied:
Yeah I should add I "do" too, lol. My brain is fried today.

We found it worked best too to read stories on the couch/nursing Megan then going to bed much easier than in bed nursing and reading. thumb.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: dito.gif if Lauren doesn't have a mouth full of boob, she is bound and determined to eat whatever book we happen to be reading. Curious George is a favorite and must be tasty judging by how she lunges for it. rolling_smile.gif

luvmykids replied: We all feel bad when we think our kids aren't getting what they want/need from us, but you're only one mommy! This too shall pass. You're doing great! rolling_smile.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: hug.gif Things will work out. You are not slacking as a mother, you are doing the best you can! hug.gif hug.gif

laugh.gif what an imiage

your not a bad mommy your adjusting, and now that you know how much he likes it you can make more adjustments to accodmidate. Kait does not always want a story at bedtime some times she wants me to sing wacko.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: well we could probably nurse and read now.... but not before. I couldn't concentrate on nursing Naomie when the other 2 were around, cuz they'd climb all over the couch, chair, bed, me... it was wayyyy too distracting - and I was too determined to make bfeeding work this time not to seclude myself.... sad.gif

I suppose now that i'm more confident with it, I could nurse Naomie while reading to the other two...

Reading on the couch could be an idea. I don't know why I never tried that... I guess reading in the bed before bed had been the routine for so long.... rolling_smile.gif

fashionmumofboys replied: Don't ever think you've been slacking or a bad mommy because you are a fantastic mommy and a really busy one to. hug.gif especially with a little baby and BF.

MyLuvBugs replied: Oh don't feel bad about it. You're a good mommy. You're just still learning to adjust to having 3 kids instead of 2. hug.gif

Is there anyway that you can nurse and read a book to them?
