I feel so bad.
HuskerMom wrote: I was getting the kids out to the car to go to my mom's. She was going to watch them tonight because I was going to go to Dh's race. Well when we got to the car Keith tripped on the curb and hit his mouth on the car. He bit his lip bad and bumped his top teeth. He bled like crazy! He was crying which made me panic but I tried to stay calm so he would't freak out worse. I called Dh since he was already at the track and he said to bring him out so he could look at it. I cleaned it up the best I could and put some ice on it for a little while. Dh looked at it and said he'll be fine. He wiggled his teeth to see if they were loose and they weren't thank goodness. I just feel so bad because it's swollen and he's fussy now. He tried to drink out of his cup but it hurts so he can't. I just want it to heal and him feel better now! Needless to say I'm not going to the races tonight, I wanted to go but I'd rather stay with Keith just in case. Hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow, we were planning on going to the circus.
Calimama replied: Don't feel bad. Our kids will get bumps and bruises all the time.. especially at this age. You're a great mommy.
HuskerMom replied: I know, it just looks so painful. I feel so bad for him. He's been tougher about it better than me!
stella6979 replied: Awww...poor Keith. Seeing our children hurting is the worst feeling in the world, but it's amazing how tough they really are. Accidents happen, so try not to beat yourself up over it.
luvmykids replied: Aw, poor baby But I agree, accidents will happen and we usually feel worse about it than they do
sparkys2boys replied: Oh hun, don't fret over it to much. It happens to all kids and they always bounce back! I bet today he is feeling better already
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Awww poor little guy and mommy too! I'm glad it was nothing to serious! I'm sure he will forget all about it at the circus!
redchief replied: I've lost count of the number of times we had similar incidents, and each one makes you feel like a heel. He'll be fine, though. You've done everything you should have with regards to the bleeding and keeping the swelling to a minimum. Keep an eye out for infection, but otherwise he should be back to his handsome self in a few days.
I wish I could tell you that was the one and only time you'll have to deal with such a thing, but kids being kids, I fear there will be more. Hang in there!
boyohboyohboy replied: I absolutely know how you feel, but with boys I have learned now having three of them, injuries are going to happen no matter what you do... I have also noticed they are really quick healers... i hope he is feeling better.
Celestrina replied: This happens to all of us. When they cut their mouth it looks worse than it really is. I remember when Ben did something similar; the blood mixed with his saliva and it looked like he was bleeding like crazy.
HuskerMom replied: He's doing much better. The swelling went down and he doesn't act like it bothers him. He really enjoyed the circus.
The lady at the grocery store asked me if he cried more about it or me, I said probably me. I'm sure it's much worse in my head then it actually was and I'm just thankful it wasn't worse.
Danalana replied: I'm glad he's feeling better!
