I babysat Alexis last night

I told her that, if she wanted to go home, I would help her last night. She readily agreed.

I gave them some "alone" time with Alexis and I showed up there at about 10pm and sent Lacy right to bed after she fed Alexis.

So, I had 4 wonderful hours with Alexis. I held her, talked to her, rocked her, walked with her, kissed her. At about 2am, she woke up.... and didn't scream. Just laid in my arms looking up at me

I changed her diaper, expecting her to start screaming...... but she didn't. While cleaning her, I kept talking to her and she just laid there looking at me

I then went into Lacy's room and woke her up..... She sooooooooo didn't want to wake up, but that's a part of having a baby . So, she got up and I sat with them awhile and then got ready and left.

It was sooooooo wonderful to have that little bit of alone time with Alexis. She is absolutely beautiful!!

Alexis has to go to the clinic to get her bilirubin levels checked. Her count was OK, but a little bit high.

I know.... and I love it especially when they tell me how she screams when other people hold her... but, she is perfectly content with me

ETA: Like last night, when I was holding her... she would start fussing a little bit, so I talked to her and "shhhhh'd" her, and she'd look at me and her bottom lip stuck out and she was pouting & then she'd fall back asleep

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Barb that's so sweet. It reminds me of when my mother came to stay with us when Maddie was born. My mother is Maddie's favorite person to this day. They really bonded. I know it will be the same for you and Alexis.
