How much did you spend on Easter???

mckayleesmom wrote: I probably spent about 35 dollars per kid or possibly even more......ugh.

I didn't mean to spend that much.....but I bought things for about 2 months now on and off.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: So far only $5 each. I still have some things to buy. I will probably only end up spending $15 on each child.

Calimama replied: $68.

booey2 replied: $15 so far total, but still have to buy the big chocolate and maybe some toys/things for them, and extra stuff for the indoor egg hunt.

Kaitlin'smom replied: so far about 20 and I have a few little things to pick up so maybe 25 total.

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
Thats the way I do it, buy things here and there for a month or two and he ends up with way more than I planned on.

Boo&BugsMom replied: About $30 each. I still need to get a few smaller things for Aiden yet.

My2Beauties replied: I haven't started yet but I'll probably spend about $70 between the two of them. I want to buy Aubrey a couplf of outifts and Hanna some clothes too.

coasterqueen replied: I honestly don't know, but I don't think I overly spent on this year like I have in past years for sure.

:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: So far I have just bought the Easter outfits and that was about $50 or so for the 3 of them. I think I am just going to buy the baskets that are already made for them and that will run me about $15 a kid.

Jamison'smama replied: We do any big outdoor stuff for Easter so Jamison and Jack will each get a new bike. Last year was the scooter year.

austins mom replied: Nothing yet. I am looking for Nerf stuff for him

A&A'smommy replied: I'm not finished yet but I have spent roughly 35 dollars thats JUST candy, a huge thing of bubbles and bubble toys and some sidewalk chalk. A few of her eggs will have money for piggy bank and I have to get her a dress and maybe a few other things oh and some jelly beans cause they didn't have any when I went shopping rolleyes.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Not a dime yet. blush.gif

I did buy two flower pots with seeds (tomatoes and sunflowers) that were going to go in her basket, but I ended up giving them to her early. And, they have already sprouted and are growing! laugh.gif She must have a green thumb, but she doesn't get that from me. Now, I have to figure out what I am going to get her.

sparkys2boys replied: Hmm I would say around $100 per kid blush.gif I know I know.. way to much.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: ohmy.gif Wow, when did Easter get so expensive??

I've spent $0 so far, and I'll maybe spend $5 each on candy/toys. I don't consider it a big deal of a holiday. No, we're not religious.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Around $25 each, and we're done. They each get one outfit, one toy and a few piece of candy - Easter's not really a big present holiday for us.

stella6979 replied: I just did mine and spent $17.00 and some change. We don't do candy, so I just got her a little Easter puzzle, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, a sticker book, and some little thing that spins and lights up. Oh wait, I did get her a little chocolate bunny as I think every kid HAS to have one of those at Easter. biggrin.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
I didn't buy alot of candy either....1 chocolate easter bunny for each and I bought those movie size boxes of candy and Im going to divide those into eggs....not much really. The rest is just little things, lipgloss, glow in the dark dinosours, hair do dads, body wash, socks, toothbrushes....etc.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Idk. It's my favorite holiday and we are religious, but I still don't spend a lot of money. unsure.gif

My kids have some of those dollar items from Target, a Dove chocolate bunny (Maddie's is a fairy bunny happy.gif ) and so far that's it. They don't get a lot of candy...just the traditional bunny. I might go back to Target and get them a movie and some bubbles, play doh, sidewalk chalk. The junkier the toys, the more they like them. tongue.gif

I haven't bought the Easter clothes yet, as I'm not sure we'll even be attending a service on Sunday. We are in the process of finding a new church.

luvmykids replied: Nothing really, we'll be flying so DH is getting Easter baskets for them to have when we get there. I thought about getting the girls a cute springy outfit for the plane but decided I don't really need to add to my to do list laugh.gif

Brias3 replied: Probably about $25 or so a piece on the basket and goodies, I got their Easter outfits a few weeks back. I still have to get a few last minute things though. We don't make a huge deal out of the Easter baskets- we have gone to an Egg hunt at our church for the past couple of years and they get a TON of candy there, so I usually just get them each a chocolate bunny candy-wise. In addition to that, they're getting gardening stuff (Aliyah), a Diego bubble set (Mason), a new soccer ball (Ryan), and then a stuffed bunny each (tradition for us), a spring/Easter themed book, and some knick knacks.

Last year, they got new bikes, so we're taking it easy this year.

coasterqueen replied: Like I said before I don't recall how much I spent this year, but it is less than in past years. Mainly because the family has a HUGE Easter egg hunt and believe me the kids get TONS (no joke) of stuff from it. rolleyes.gif

I got them:

Both got a Miracle Grow My First Garden kit, both got a stuffed animal (Kylie's is a webkinz), a chocolate bunny, chapstick, silly putty, and some Webkinz trading cards. We do hide eggs for the girls and in them will be jelly beans and chocolate coins. ETA: I got them both a watch, too.

I did get them dresses for Easter, but I used my Gymbucks for them. happy.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I would say around $50.00, but everything I got was on sale!

Kaitlin'smom replied: well I finished last night over all I did not spend as much as I could have but I did spend a little more than I planed, I found some cute spring dresses on sale and one on clearance (one was $5 the other was $6) so I had to get them. she adores dresses so a few more is good. she only got a little candy, some stickers, lots of seeds to plant and new school stuff all in princess theme (coudl not pass those up 5 different things for $5) and a new DVD so over all about 40, still much better than in the past but a little more than planed.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: The E.B. is bringing the Enchanted DVD and some small candy items ,etc... I figure I will keep it as inexpensive as possible. We also have a big family (with the man Bill hauls for and his family) dinner and egg hunt so I have to buy our share of food and eggs/candy for that and that adds up quickly since I think there will be 23 of us there this year. The egg hunt will be for 15 kids! laugh.gif

Danalana replied: $0 so far. All we're getting him is an outfit, but I haven't gone to look for it yet. When I was little, we didn't do much for Easter, but it's really important to us. Not the gifts part, but what it signifies smile.gif Gifts are great, mind you...just not something I ever think about since my family rarely celebrated any holidays. It would be neat if I could find him a little basket or something, but I'm not actively seeking one...

kit_kats_mom replied: $120 total for outfits, a little candy, baskets and basket stuff. blush.gif

I got them each a little flashlight, K got a furberry (which she's been begging for since Lauren got one for Christmas), and a hula hoop. L got Beach toys and they both got panties & toothbrushes.

Cece00 replied: Including the stuff I had to buy for their easter parties @ school, probably around $75-80.

Then, outfits...which was a dress for Natalie, and matching shirts for all the boys....that was about $40. Shoes were like $15 or $20 for Natalie, the boys will just wear shoes they have that are nice.

I dont do big presents for Easter, its just not really a celebrated holiday with us. I mean there is an easter get together @ my mom's & SHE spends a ton of money, but generally I just get them a basket (1 per kid) & give them like a couple of small toys & candy. My mom gives them a lot of toys, so I just do mostly candy.

MoonMama replied: Too much. rolling_smile.gif I think around $100. wacko.gif

5littleladies replied: Nothing. We will be gone at my sil's but even if we weren't, we just don't make a big deal out of Easter. And yes, I am religious. wink.gif I'll do baskets sometimes and we color eggs and do egg hunts and stuff like that but we really don't do a whole lot.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: dunno.gif Not sure you, DH and I are going shopping tomorrow! This should be interesting, it was much easier when they were younger! At least we still can hide eggs for Claudia!

bawoodsmall replied:
I didnt think you had to spend a lot if you were. Ohh....you mean I dont consider it a big holiday. Man I am slow this morning.

I will prob spend $20.00 on each maybe. Prob not that much because I dont do the clothes thing as part of their Easter gift. Emily is not that girl that is like oh a new outfit and of course Aiden doesnt care. I am trying to pick up some swimming stuff and outdoor stuff for spring. Very little candy. They get some from in laws and daycare so they so dont need it. We still have heart day candy.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: I still don't get the consumerism involved with every holiday rolleyes.gif . I mean, it's getting a bit ridiculous, to say the least.

For Easter, I am making a nice dinner FROM SCRATCH and having my mom & 2 sisters over. It's more of a Spring celebration than Easter. We will color eggs, but that's about it. My kids don't even get Easter baskets.

ETA: Please don't jump down my throat; I'm just trying to understand the need to spend $50-$100 on Easter toys, clothes, and candy.

bawoodsmall replied:
I am with you on the money thing Mollie. I am so over it. I want to come to your house for dinner. I am sorry to say but I wouldnt be able to make a dinner from scratch I dont think. What are you planning?

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
Let's see...we are having a ham, AuGratin potatoes, candied yams, scalloped corn, carrots, fresh greens, and dinner rolls. LOTS of veggies LOL. My mom & sister are bringing deserts.

I always make a soup with the ham bone & leftover ham, usually split pea & ham.

lesliesmom replied: I went and got the kids the pre-made "toy" easter baskets last weekend. They were $14 each (x3). I got Lindsay her dress about a month ago and think I spent about $15 on it. The older two can wear their christmas outfits since they haven't worn them since then. Just need to go and get tights for the girls and shoes, too. Drat - forgot about that. I also spent $5 on the pre-made easter eggs for our home easter egg hunt.

Last night I spent another $17 on toys/candy for my mom's easter egg hunt.

MommyToAshley replied: I went shopping yesterday and picked stuff up for Ashley's basket. (We'll reuse the same basket from last year so we won't have that expense.) Her basket will have:
--Hanna Montana purse
--Hanna Montana shirt/shorts outfit (she's been asking for a Hanna Montana shirt)
--Hairbows (matches the Hanna Montana outfit)
--Sidewalk Chalk tools
--Sidewalk paint
--A white chocolate bunny
--6 plastic eggs filled with some candy
--A box of stackers (she loves those things but I only buy them once in a while as a special treat)
--A yellow duck puppet that quacks when you squeeze his beak. (LOL -- that was an impulse buy, I am sure I will wonder what the heck I was thinking)
--I might pick her up some kind of craft thing she can do inside because she won't get to use her sidewalk chalk and paint until the weather is nicer.

I had a 40% off coupon for the general merchandise so I don't think I spent much on all of that. I bought everything while grocery shopping, but I probably spent less than $20.

ETA: Oh, I forgot, I also got her a new book of children's bible stories.

moped replied:
Yeah me too - not too much

My mom and sister sent stuff too

We don't need anything else in this house!

And we just took them on a big trip and they got lots of goodies there

bawoodsmall replied:
I just had split pea and ham soup for lunch today at work. My favorite!!!! I wish I could come for that. biggrin.gif

3xsthefun replied: I haven't gotten the kids anything yet. I will probably go get them something tomorrow or Friday.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
wavey.gif Come on over!! There will be plenty thumb.gif !

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Mmmmmm!! I might fly in for that! It sounds delicious!! yummy.gif

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
thumb.gif C'mon up! It would be so fun!

lovemy2 replied:
DITTO but that was for my two kids and a small basket for my nephew laugh.gif

My2Beauties replied:
No to be honest I am seriously with you. I keep thinking about it and I'm like ok Easter...honestly do I need to spend a lot. I usually would buy a lot, but I've decided Aubrey is getting a stuffed chick or bunny wub.gif and Hanna is going to get a DVD or something like that maybe, so that'll be a total of maybe $20 thumb.gif We also dye Easter Eggs and my MIL always has a huge Easter Egg Hunt at our house. I started thinking, their Easter dresses along with shoes and their pink tights cost $105 wacko.gif That's enough for Easter! LOL!

youngmomofone replied: About 15 bucks.

Anthony275 replied: wow, i never knew people actually bought things for easter

Calimama replied:
LOL well I also got a bottle of water.. so it was more like $67 on Miabella. ph34r.gif rolling_smile.gif

mummy2girls replied: about 50... but not all on jenna.. i went to the dollarstore and spent 50 bucks for jenna, and the dayhome kids:)

skinkybaby replied: For everything about $150. Their dresses, tights and shoes cost about $75 and then the rest was spent on their basket stuff. I did theme baskets this year and got their bathing suits, coverups, swimming pool, etc so really I was cheating and killed 2 birds with one stone rolleyes.gif
