How long do you leave them up? - holiday decorations

For us - we usually put the Hanukkah stuff up about a week before the first night - then take it down about a week after the 8th night. We only light the candle/oil burning menorahs during the 8 nights....so now they are just sitting on the shelves empy and not being used. The electric menorahs are still in the windows - but they haven't been plugged in since Monday evening when Hanukkah ended. I'll probably work on taking stuff down tomorrow and Friday and we'll probably pack everything away on Sunday. It just seems strange having the decorations up still....most years all the decorations are packed away before the kids have off fro winter break - and they're already back in school.
KingMom replied: We took ours down on Saturday
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Mine are coming down this weekend, normally I would take them down around New Year's, but I was working this year. So off time, it is. But wasn't Hanukkah a little later than usual this year?
5littleladies replied: I almost always take them down on New Year's Eve day.I don't like having my Christmas stuff our when I start a new year. I like to feel like I am starting fresh and that includes leaving last years Christmas in last year.
MamaJAM replied: Yes - Hanukkah was the 'latest' it ever gets this year. It just feels 'weird' having the stuff up still...and we were even late getting things up.
coasterqueen replied: We take ours down New Years Day (and did, lol).
Kaitlin'smom replied: With all the activites that went on last weekend due to the death in the faily they are comming down this weekend, normaly they are down newyears day or day after.
mom21kid2dogs replied: The tree will be down by Friday. The nativity stays up until after the Feast of the Ephiany. The snowmen stay up until Valentine's day. The outdoor light come down whenever my husband wants to take them down.
PrairieMom replied: Our stuff is still up because we really haven't even had Christmas yet. My sister flys in tomorrow, and we will have christmas monday, then I will take the stuff down, probably next thursday!
CantWait replied: Our Christmas stuff came down New Years Day. I always leave it up until at least then because in our family it was bad luck to take it down before the New Year.
TeagansMom609 replied: Funny you ask! I JUST took all of mine down about 10 minutes ago. It feels good to have it all put away! I just have to have DH take the tree out to the curb when he gets home. What a mess that will be with all of the needles. If I had Valentine's Day stuff I would put that up but I dont have any.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I usually take them down right after the new year, but they are still up. With DH going on TDY I haven't had a chance to take them down yet. I may go do that now since Jordan is sleeping the day away.
kimberley replied: the weekend after the epiphany (jan 6th)
amymom replied: I like for my decorations to never come down before Ephiphany which is January 6th. That will be Friday this week. Tomorrow is the twelfth day of Christmas. But we do not mark all the days of Christmas. I may take the decor down tomorrow because Friday is already slated to be busy.
I have not celebrated Christmas with my siblings yet, and am planning that for next Saturday .. the 14th. So I would have kept them up until then, but that would drive my MIL very crazy since she would prefer all decor down on Dec. 26th. So one of my borthers is letting me host Christmas at his house. (long story)
My3LilMonkeys replied: All of my decorations are down and were on or around the 1st. We do however still have our tree up (just undecorated) because for some reason pickup week for the trees isn't until next week. It will probably go out to the curb Saturday.
3_call_me_mama replied: DH JUST informed me that it has to come down soon. Cause it woudl be bad to still have it up after valentines day!!! LOL ! So maybe in a week or so... it's an artifical tree an it adds a lot of HEAT to our living room with teh lights so we are gonna undecorate it and make it a wintr tree and leave it up a bit But it'll be down probably befoer feb 1, maybe sooner depending on how motivated DH is. And we have hardly any other decorations out cause they are all packed incase we ever sell this house !!
PhiMuMommy replied: u take em down?
no i usually have mine down before igo back to school.. so i have one week to do it..lol.
huggybugboy replied: I took down my tree on Christmas day night. I was sick of cleaning up the pine needles and chasing the kid down. The rest of the decorations came down on New Years Eve when the power was out. (nothin better to do.)
remtana replied: I take down my tree like 1-2 days after Christmas. Once I get the living room cleaned up from the toys and stuff. All the decorations around the house gets taken down 1-2 days after Christmas also. We put them up a little before Thanksgiving, and as much as I love Christmas, I am ready to have my house back to normal. I put out snow men stuff though and keep that up until the beginning of March. Even though we don't have any snow where we live in Michigan right now.
