Ham,Turkey or Prime Rib - Or Other

Us a Ham
Boo&BugsMom replied: Not sure. We go over to my parents house on Christmas Day for dinner. Usually it's ham or a turkey.
jcc64 replied: Haven't decided yet. Maybe paella, if I can find some good seafood, which is always a crap-shoot around here.
coasterqueen replied: Always turkey and sometimes ham as well.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: We'll be at my dad's for lunch on Christmas, we're having ham.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Jeanne, don't you guys have a Whole Foods in your town? I'm in Colorado, which of course is a land-locked state, but I made bouillabaise (sp?) one year and got really good clams, mussels and other fish from that store. Came out great! Paella is one of my favorites! Especially with sangria!
I'm going to make beef tenderloin with a wild mushroom and red wine reduction sauce. Totally melts in your mouth! And maybe a salad with blue cheese and maybe roasted beets. Hazelnut chocolate flourless torte for dessert! Can't wait!
Calimama replied: Lasagna, pasta, etc.
grapfruit replied: I had a coupon from Honeybaked foods for a Honeybaked ham. So I'm having them ship it to my mom and that's what we're having! It's 9 lbs too!! Little does she know but we're having a BUNCH of people over It's her 50th B-day on Christmas day!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Usually a standing rib roast. This year, however, we have THREE hams in the freezer. One is from Honeybaked Ham (from a business partner). YUMM-O!!! I love ham, so I'm more than fine passing up the beef this year.
My2Beauties replied: I'm not cooking this year but I'm sure my mom or the IL's will, and it'll probably be ham!
Rae, you seriously need to be a chef. I would LOVE to taste some of the food you cook, it sounds so delicious.
CantWait replied: Ron's friend won a turkey at work, and gave it to Ron since he's single, so we're having an already stuffed turkey.
luvmykids replied: The only thing I know for sure is all the Mexican...posole, tamales, beans, red and green chile. I want to do prime rib but not sure yet, depends on if DH caves and we end up going to his grandmas house or staying here with MIL and her DH's family
Crystalina replied: We always do a ham for Christmas.
Our town is famous for it's Dickens Christmas theme every year and because of that I've always wanted to do a goose but I don't know where I would get one. I mean, we have Canadian geese that land in our horse field sometimes but I'm not sure if A) you can shoot them, or if those are the kind of geese one would cook for Christmas dinner.
I don't know why that little smiley is there....Oh! I see now, I did B )....gotcha.
stella6979 replied: DH has to work Christmas night so we're just doing snacks in the afternoon for when everyone comes over. We're having sweet & sour meatballs, parmesean dip with bread and carrots, shrimp, cookies, and of course....wine.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh I would love to do goose some year too, but I wouldn't recommend shooting one outside. Never know where they've been, what they ate, etc. If you were kidding, sorry if I took you seriously ....But just thinking that the geese wandering the yard are probably not that healthy. Again, I bet Whole Foods or any gourmet foods grocery store, like maybe Gelson's, would carry them. I made a duck one year and bought it at Whole Foods.
Thanks LeaAnn! Going to culinary school is on my mind, but I am scared sh*tless to pay for something I may totally fail at. And truthfully, I don't want to work in a restaurant all that much, BTDT and the hours stink! I suppose I'll just keep cooking as a hobby for now.
jcc64 replied: Guys, goose is so NASTY! It's super greasy- it smokes up the whole house when it's cooking- it's just, well, foul (pun intended). Do yourself a favor, skip the goose.
gr33n3y3z replied: LOL I agree its nasty no matter what way you cook it and I had it from the best But I know almost everyone who eats it likes the grease
lovemy2 replied: Good old fashioned Ham and scalloped potatoes here
Denise - by any chance will you be with your italian family this year? I remember when my family was bigger when I was younger - grandpa, my dad and my uncle were all still alive and the rest of us actually liked each other we did the old fashioned italian Christmas Eve - lasagna, seafood, the works - it was wonderful
MotherForever2043 replied: Honey baked Ham..
For the first time!
jacobsmama replied: We are having both ham and turkey!
CantWait replied: You leave our geese alone you hear
Brias3 replied: I think I'm actually going to do pork tenderloin this year, which I need to do my shopping for TOMORROW. I'm having Christmas Day and my side of the family is coming over, so I've got lots to do.
Crystalina replied:
Well if they are that nasty tasting I will.
Are those even the kind you would eat or is there a certain type bred to eat? A less greasy version of said Canadian geese?
redchief replied: Come to Cape May. You can buy it off the boat. And we'll do lunch.
redchief replied: I love gooses... geeses... gosses... But I have to buy it out because someone very close to me doesn't like it.
Calimama replied: Yep, I caved and bought a ticket. My friends are great but I think I need more family with DH gone this year. Their all crazy Italians so lasagna it is!
Nina J replied: We always have turkey, chicken and ham. I don't remember a time when we haven't had all three.
holley79 replied: Christmas Eve we are having Christmas dinner with my parents. They are making Eutofee and fried Turkey.
Christmas Day I am making Sheppard's Pie, salad and Tiramisu.
grapfruit replied: My dad is coming over Monday for Christmas and said "surprise me" w/the food so I'm making Eggplant Lasagna.
So I guess the Italian is coming out in me too!
grapfruit replied: Where does your family live? I guess I thought you were "born and bred" in CA
Calimama replied: Nope, I moved out here to be with DH a little more than 2 years ago. I was raised in Texas!
Kaitlin'smom replied: ham and turkey on christmas with all the sides. I am the cook I dont mind its just my kitchen SUCKS its sooo small
