Had a scare last night...

We had no idea what was going on, but both panicked and Sophia woke up screaming. DH called 911 and told me to take the baby into the back room, but I was too scared to go back there becuase there were windows back there, too. I was trying to find a safe, non-windowed place to take her. I was shaking so badly I could hardly stand up. DH ran outside with a huge stick we have, and I noticed there was a rock on the window sill. He found one of our neighbors out there with his dogs, and he said that someone had thrown rocks at his house, too, but nothing was damaged.

The police came and took a statement, checked things out and said it was probably some kids playing games. They said there was a 99.9% chance they wouldn't come back that night - great, the thought of them returning hadn't crossed my mind until then. We were so scared that we couldn't sleep - every sound sent us jumping out of bed. Now we have to get the window replaced, and we're finally getting an alarm hooked up on the house.

There is nothing worse than being violated in your own home when you feel the most secure. Even though no one was hurt, we were the victoms of a violent crime - like the police report said, assult with a lethal missile. If Sophia had been sleeping 15 feet to the right, she could have been hit. I'm outraged, horrified, and uneasy - I hate feeling this way in my own home!! UGH!!!

kimberley replied: OMG! i am so glad you are all okay. that is so scary when something like that happens in your own home. the cop is right though, if it is kids pulling a horrible prank, they won't likely come back. we had some kids breaking into our cars and stealing all the change but no other damage and the police said the same thing. i know how scary it can be.

How scary! I am glad everyone is ok. I would have been the same way, I wouldn't have been able to sleep either. I hope they catch the kids doing this!
