sparkys2boys wrote: I need to vent, scream, cry, all of it bawling.gif bawling.gif I really try to never vent in here alot or be negative but I need to right now or I am going to lose it. This may get long.. sorry to any that sticks it all out

As some of you seen Cam has phenomia and things have gotten really outta hand. Let me go back to last week on Thrusday I picked him up from school and he said he did not feel well, stomach was sore, was a lil warm. By the afternoon he was fine and seemed like whatever it was had past.

Come Friday he is bawling in pain in his stomach and is taking dizzy spells so I take him to out patients and they do a bunch of tets etc and hence we get the phenomia call. Get meds and we go home, he is still crying that his stomach hurts and won't eat etc. I leave work early because he is screaming in pain and I take him to the hospital again, more tests and x-rays that show his small intestine is filled with air and his bowel is packed with hard stool (tmi) so they give me meds and send us home. Friday night I am back there with him, he is shaking, screaming, and in obvisious pain, they give him an adult dose of fleet and nothing.. send me home with another type of meds to try.

Sat, still crying, hurting, take him back, more fleet, nothing, new meds again.. send us home mad.gif

And on and on and here it is now Thrusday again and Paul has just left with him for the hospital. He seemed like he was starting to feel better today but no movements then he** broke lose tonight with the pain again.

To boot I am sick also like you have no idea bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

I am so tired, feel so badly for Cam and can't fix any of it.

Sorry for all of this I know you had much better things to do then listen to me but I had to get this all out

Bamamom replied: Bless your heart!!! I will be praying for you - I can't imagine what it must be like to see your little one in pain like that. Here's hoping for a BM soon!!!!

A&A'smommy replied: OH honey you know you can ALWAYS vent here!!! I'm SOO sorry you guys are going through all of this its SO awful to see your baby in pain I can't even imagine how you are feeling right now!!! hug.gif hug.gif I REALLY hope they figure this all out and can give him some relief!!! hug.gif hug.gif KUP and don't feel bad or apologize for venting thats what we are here for!!

mckayleesmom replied: You can always vent here girly......everybody needs to once in a while. I hope Cam gets well soon.

TrulyBlessed replied: ((((((((Big Hugs)))))))) It's so hard to see your babies in pain. Many prayers!! hug.gif

luvmykids replied: Oh my gosh, it must be misery for you and Cam both hug.gif hug.gif I hope things get better very quickly and we're always here for you hug.gif hug.gif

ZandersMama replied: hug.gif I'm so sorry hun its so hard when they are sick

Kirstenmumof3 replied: hug.gif hug.gif Poor little guy! I hope they find out what's causing all the pain! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! hug.gif hug.gif

Teesa®© replied: Poor Cam! I know exactly how he feels! Years before I ever had children, I had the SAME stomach pains. It was the middle of the night and I was crying in pain and my neighbour called a Boo Boo Bus for me [he told me later he was getting sick of listening to me cry, lol]. The doc's couldn't figure out what was wrong so they sent me home. I was in my jammies and had to walk 18 blocks at 4am! mad.gif

Anyway, for me, the gas had to come UP and it couldn't because it was being blocked by stool. The stool couldn't go DOWN because it was being blocked by gas. What I did was massage my tummy where the gas was to break it up and "force" it to go down [ever burp up a fart? tongue.gif tongue.gif yeah, and I wasn't going THERE wacko.gif ]

Whatever he ingests, make sure it's something that he won't be adding too much more air to the mix [nothing carbonated, definitely!] Tell him to slow down, the faster we eat, the more air we swallow.

I also remember having a really hot bath [if Cam's been taking Laxatives, this may not be a good idea, unless you are able to yank him out QUICK! rolling_smile.gif ] - the heat and pressure of the water helped break up the gas, or maybe just helped move it along down the line, I don't know. It could be all the massaging did the trick and just happened to finally work itself out then.

If it hurts Cam too much to massage where the gas is, massage below the area and side to side. It'll relax his intestines - I'm sure they're tensed up like crazy now - and everything will start moving.

I don't remember how long it took me before it started working - this was over 20 years ago! lol - but I doubt it'll take as long for him. I'm an adult and it's hard to massage yourself and to try to relax while doing it. He's smaller and less to massage. I'm totally guessing that it took an hour at the absolute MOST before I started feeling movement of gas breaking up. It may have only been about 1/2 hour.

OK, I read your post through again and this has been going on a WEEK??? I'd delete what I wrote above, but it may still help so I'll leave it.

Is he on med's for his pneumonia? Could they be making him constipated? Have you given him lots of apple juice? [works loosening up stool for some, constipated my children] Prunes or prune juice? If I remember correctly, Cranberry juice does the same [someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure wink.gif]

And something that I do - but shhhhh, don't tell my family wink.gif - twice a month I make spaghetti. I do two large cans of spaghetti sauce and while it's heating up, I put in 1 or 2 tablespoons of powdered fibre in it [Metamucil, or whatever it's called]. No one knows I do it and you can't taste it at all.

DillsMommy replied: Oh no! I feel so bad for the little guy. I hope he starts feeling better soon. No need to apologize for venting, we are all hear to listen and offer support. One of the hardest things ever, is watching your own child in pain. sleep.gif Many hugs for you and him! hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Thanks guys hug.gif

Still nothing, the child is hardly eating a thing but can I blame him.. ughhhhhh Last night dh could not get him into the out patient doc.. a freaking 6 hour wait mad.gif so they came home and I got him settled and he did sleep not to bad.

Days ago they were talking surgery if he did not have a BM soon, they all of a sudden it was a wait and see game. Not that I want him to go through that either, but OMG at what point does something get done for him sad.gif I am worried about his bowel exploding or something then I will have worse problems is what I am thinking. We are giving him til supper time then he is going back to out patients( the joy of having no family doctor) and dh said he is NOT leaving until something gets done.

And to answer someones question, yes they think it is from the antiobotics and yes he is drinking tons of water, apple juice, and had had numerous diffrent meds to help him go, none of it has worked. I mean a whole adult bottle of fleet given rectally (TMI again, sorry) did nothing for him at all.

Anyone have any other ideas??

Teesa®© replied: Can they not change his antibiotics then??? Or give him something else?

Glad to hear he's drinking lots, but not that he's not into eating so much. Liquids will help his stool a lot more than adding more solids to it. As long as he's eating SOMETHING, he'll be OK. When mine are that sick that they don't want to even eat, I'll chuck my "I'm NOT a restaurant!" right out the window and give them whatever the heck they want, lol.

As for a doctor, have you tried calling the hospital and asking if they have a list of accepting doctors? The clinics? The Health Unit? I'm not sure where you are - I try to keep track of everyone here so I don't keep asking the same questions, but it's hard! wub.gif - but on the off-chance you're in Ontario: Doctor Search
If you're in Canad-eh at all: All Provinces

If you're in the States, I'm sure there's TONS of sites you can search. The States has ALL the kewl links - we're pretty much still in the Stone Age compared to them tongue.gif emlaugh.gif

sparkys2boys replied:
Thanks, I am in PEI.

He is done of his antibotics, it was a strong three day dose.

LOL.. I play restaraunt any time in need. He just told me he wanted chicken nuggets from wendy's.. needless to say that is what he will be having.

coasterqueen replied: I don't know if this will help at this piont, but I'd put him on a probiotic like acidophilus or lots of yogurt. Antibiotics are VERY BAD on the system, they kill the good flora/bacteria that our bodies need to function properly. The probiotic will bring back that good flora. Hope he gets better soon. hug.gif hug.gif

momofone replied: fiber, some yogurt have the probiotics in them they are good, and flaxseed oil they sell them in capsules you can break them might also help. they sell childrens acildolfious in health food stores . they help replace benefical bacteria in the gut lost by antibotics. hth apples i think have fiber in them they might help.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Poor little guy! I don't have any advice to add, but I hope the both of you are feeling better soon! hug.gif hug.gif

MyBabeMaddie replied: Why aren't they disimpacting him? Is the blockage still in the small intestines? If he hasn't had a BM for this long they should have at least checked to see if he could be disimpacted. It's painful but it should provide instant relief. Has anyone stimulated his rectum?? I'm sure you don't want to do it to your own son, but I've done it at the hospital - Just put some lube on your finger and swirl it around it helps get things going. I'm sorry, poor thing I hope he feels better soon! hug.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Anything yet?

momofone replied: another thing to try castor oil.

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: omg - how horrible! I feel so bad for your little guy and you. I know you dont feel well and are probably worried sick about him, too.

Please keep us posted! hug.gif hug.gif

So all is well? He had a bm? My boss's granddaughter had to have surgery because of a blocked bowel last year at Christmas time. She is 4. Not a good time. I hope they got everything figured out. hug.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Still nothing.. ughhhhhh I am at my wits end here. He is happy and playing like normal, which is weird because he has been in so much pain. I dunno what the heck is going on with him. I can't imgine how is not in agony every second still.
