Going to buy a highchair - need recommendations
jdkjd wrote: What highchair do you use and why? Or is there one you can recommend that a friend or relative uses?
ediep replied: we use the graco double tray high chair Here is a link

I like it because it reclines, has toys on the tray, has a washable cover, 5 point harness and honestly because it matched my kitchen
Good Luck
MommyToAshley replied: I have the Evenflo Simplicity Plus... It has a removeable padding that can be thrown in the wash, it has different positions to recline, 5-point harness, and has different height adjustments if you wan to pull it up to the table. It also has tray "inserts" that are dishwasher safe. It's great except for one thing. The bars that the tray slides onto (which is made of sturdy palstic) has indinted seams... like a little groove where the plastic comes together. Food always gets in there and I have to use a toothbrush to get it out. I would look at that when you go to purchase a highchair, which is something I didn't really think about. (I don't know if they are all like that or not)
HTH.
jdkjd replied: I had read some bad reviews about the ability to adjust the height and wash the cover...have you had any problems?
MommyToAshley replied: Here is a link to some product reviews of the chair we have:

We had a prettier pattern though ... it is a teddy bear pattern with a boy an girl teddy bear holding hands. (This is the only pic I have that you can kinda see the pattern but Ashley is covering most of it up) We got it at target... I think it was close to $70 or $80, not sure of exact price. Like I said, it is a great highchair if you don't mind taking a toothbrush to the arms.
aspenblue1 replied: I have a fisher price high chair. It is adjust in height 3 levels and reclines I think 4 levels. I like it. Here is a picture of it
momofajcl replied: When ds#1 was a baby, I bought the First Years travel high chair. It is turquise and white and it folds up so you can take it with you. It straps to any chair with a back. Anyway...that is what we are using w/Nicholas. Since we are 99.9% sure this is our last, we aren't buying another big highchair (our old one was ditched because I couldn't find replacement straps for it). I love the travel one if you are in the market for a travel one. The parts are also dishwasher safe so when it gets trashed, I stick it in there to be cleaned though it is very easy to clean by hand too. I needed new straps for it as well and I was able to email the company and they sent me free ones.
ediep replied: No problems here, although I just set the height to whatever was confortable and left it there. I haven't needed to adjust again
kit_kats_mom replied: We have the fisher price Healthy care high chair. it is height adjustable, and it reclines. The tray is removable for dishwasher use also. I love it! Cary
mommytohaley replied: I have one that has height adjustments, reclines, has a washable cover, the whole nine yards. So far I've never adjusted the height, I've never reclined it (I didn't start solids until Haley could sit on her own so she didn't need to recline), and I hate having to wash the cover in the washing machine everyday. So none of those features did me much good. What I wish I had gotten is the one with locking wheels. I'm constantly dragging mine back and forth out of the way and wheels would have been so much easier!
HTH!

supermom replied: That was going to be my suggestion - make sure that it isn't a cloth cover - they are cute, but they are sure messy!! After washing my vinyl one three times a day I certainly wouldn't relish having to wash the cloth cover that often.......I would say you may not have to at first, but when they get older and start to self-feed, then it can be a REAL mess!
girlzmommy00 replied: We have a Peg Perego high chair. I do like it a lot. It's easy to clean, it folds up really easy and all the features are easy to use. And it holds up really well. The one we have we bought over 4 years ago and it still looks new. My in laws have the Graco high chair and it's a huge PIA. They have one of the cloth covered ones but just the whole thing seems like a pain to me (adjusting the tray, seat belts, etc) JMO
booey2 replied: Hi we have a peg perego too and I love it, the wheels lock and you can put the whole thing up to the table and use it like a booster chair or extra chair for a little one visiting. My father-in-law bought it about 5 years ago for our fist son and it still looks like new.
Julie (jem0622) replied: I inherited one from my sister that works fine and is a cheaper model, however, I do prefer my high chair that adapts to a regular chair b/c you can take it everywhere, takes up less space, can be used when they are a toddler, and is washable in the dishwasher. Several manufacturers make them. If I had to do it over then I would get the one that reclines.

jdkjd replied: I decided to get the Fisher Price Healthy Care High Chair. The only complaints I heard were that it didn't have wheels and there was a ruffle that got nasty.
Well they came out with a deluxe model that has wheels and no ruffle, and my only criteria was for it to have a vinyl cover, which it does.
Thank you so much for all of your input. It really helped me figure out what I wanted.
Roxworld replied: Hey Jenn....just curious....what does the "deluxe" model look like? It sounds like exactly what we wanted. We just bought the Fisher Price Healthy Care as well....but it's the one without wheels....I didn't see the one you mentioned.....but it sounds better.....i'm thinking exchange....hehehe.
MommyToAshley replied: Glad you found one...be sure to come back and let us know how you like it!
jdkjd replied: Here is the deluxe model. I ordered it from Target because the Target in town didn't have it. I'll let you know when it gets here...
