Girls Night Out

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Saturday night is girls night out at PF Changs. That is my favorite place to eat and I just looked at their menu. ohmy.gif The calories in their meals is outrageous!! What do I do???

Do I eat it and let it be my cheat meal for the first time in 2 weeks? Or do I eat before I go, drink some hot tea and ask for stir fried veggies (b/c they happen to have the lowest calories)?

It's really gonna suck being there and not be able to eat what I want...and it's been so long since I've been there. sleep.gif

booey2 replied: I would definitely eat a little meal before going, then have maybe half portions and ask for the other half to be put in a doggy bag and not brought to the table. Definitely do not deprive yourself or you may just dig right in and realize what you have done til you are done. hug.gif Remember that you are there to enjoy each others company and that the food there is only the second reason you are there.

hoosier momma replied: I would eat a healthy and filling snack (like an apple) on the way and order your favorite. Then, you wouldn't be able to eat the whole thing. You could always split something with a friend or even order from the kids menu if available for a smallere portion. Have fun and don't deprive yourself or you will crave it even more!! Everything is okay in moderation.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: My favorite meal has a total of 1890 calories and 76 grams of fat!! ohmy.gif Even in moderation that would be way too much for me right now. sleep.gif I'm sure it would even make me sick to my stomach. Not even the vegetarian meals are low in fat/calories.

I'm so mad at my friend for choosing that place after I told her there was nothign I could eat there. I just think it's inconsiderate. The people who aren't watching their weight just don't understand. It almost makes me not want to go, but then I would miss out on great company. *sigh*

I think I will just take my own food.

I sound so grumpy today...I'm pms'ing. blush.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: ohmy.gif WOW that meal is almost an entire days worth of calories ohmy.gif

I would eat before hand and find something like the veggies or an appitzer to order and enjoy the company and dont worry about the food.

and phoy on the friend who picked it.

hoosier momma replied: Wow on the calories, even half of it would be crazy! Sorry, it was a thought. Do they have a soup or appetizer that would work for you?

Kaitlin'smom replied: what kind of food is this BTW?

hoosier momma replied: PF Changs China Bistro

Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's Chinese food, but it's really good, fresh Chinese food. It's a trendy, expensive place to eat. That's why I haven't been in awhile. emlaugh.gif

They do have a wonton soup that looks really yummy. I forgot what the calories were on that. The lettuce wraps are an appetizer and they have stuff like egg rolls that are high in calories as well. unsure.gif

booey2 replied: We actually talked about eating out at my meeting last week and they suggested ordering a couple appetizers instead of a meal. I would have the wonton soup, lettuce wraps and maybe a couple of egg or spring rolls. HTH

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Thanks you guys. hug.gif I'm feeling so much better about it now. I suppose one treat won't hurt. wink.gif I just don't want to lose my focus. It's not that I'm afraid of gaining a pound...I'm just afraid I'll slip back into old habits. tongue.gif

When I order, I'll be smart about it. happy.gif

hoosier momma replied: I hope you don't mind, but I was reading some of your journal earlier. You seem very focused and motivated to me. It really sounds like you deserve one night out with the girls and I don't think it will wreck your plan or motivation. I think you really have it together and are in this for the long haul. I wish some of your motivation would rub off.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Thank you, Brandy. hug.gif And no, I don't mind at all. wink.gif

You're probably right. One good meal might do the body good. happy.gif

Thanks again! I appreciate the encouragement. wub.gif
