Gifts for boss

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: Those of you who work, do you give your boss a gift? I told DH that we should get something for his boss (he has two). He wasn't sure. I thought at least a bottle of wine. But I think he still feels uncomfortable. I convinced him to get a gift for the lady that helps him with bills, not his secretary, but she helps him a lot. He keeps second guessing it..saying if I get something for one person in the office, I should get something for everyone. I disagree. I think gifts go to those that have helped you tremendously, plus your boss. What do you do?

holley79 replied: I haven't really thought about it. I figure they make about 40,000 more a year then I do. emlaugh.gif

coasterqueen replied: My co-worker and I do get him a gift but he never appreciates it. He barely opens the thing. If we get him a gift certificate he regifts them. dry.gif growl.gif

This year we got him a digital photo frame so it cost us about $50 per person.

The funny thing is we buy him a gift from our personal money. He buys us a gift from him but uses the company credit card to do it. dry.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I have a new boss this year so I am not sure what will happen in the office, we are kinda small but I really cant afford to buy for everyone. I guess I need to probe around

PrairieMom replied: My boss isn't getting a single thing from me. He is a jerk, and I will just leave it at that. growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif AUGH! now I'm angry. dry.gif

luvmykids replied: I think it depends on the general relationship with the boss, kwim? I think I would stick to just them though, or nobody, jmho.

My3LilMonkeys replied: My boss flat out says, don't buy me anything - so I don't. tongue.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Uh, that sounds awful Karen! What a jerk. mad.gif

amynicole21 replied: Maybe if you bake cookies you could give him a tin full or something. That way it doesn't feel like you spent a bunch of money, but that you at least thought about him. I think that's what I'm going to do.

MommyToAshley replied:
thumb.gif Good idea, a little basket of baked goods would be a nice thought. And, I know you can bake, so that might be right up your alley.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
That's a good idea Amy! I actually made several dozen chocolate almond biscotti last weekend. Didn't come out great, they are funny shaped, but taste good. That may be cute in a nice bag with some nice coffee. thumb.gif I froze them btw. wink.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Me neither. He doesn't pay me enough to consider getting him anything, to be honest. We try to really only buy for those who we really "need" to buy for or else the gift buying gets way too out of hand and stressfull...family, is pretty much it. We have to draw the line and say no at some point.

MotherForever2043 replied: There is no way in the world I would EVER give my boss a gift!!! he's such a jerk growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif He makes more money than I do anyway dry.gif

bawoodsmall replied: Crap, i am starting to feel guilty. I like my boss but we are already doing a cookie exchange thing so that wouldnt work. Needless to say I do a lot for her so really she should be getting me a gift. I will try to think of something. sleep.gif
