Getting bathtub crayon out of carpet

coasterqueen wrote: Tuesday morning Kylie decided that she wanted to get up for the day at 4 am. So she and I went out into the livingroom so I could lay on the couch and close my eyes and let her watch tv. Well all of her stuff from staying at my parents over the weekend was in the livingroom as well. Apparently when I was catching a 1/2 of a wink emlaugh.gif Kylie got ahold of a brown Crayola bathtub crayon and colored our nicely light tan colored carpet. rolleyes.gif I was sooooo darn exhausted I took the crayon away from her and explained to her that it was not a good thing to do and left the mess there til later. Later on that night I sprayed it with our handy dandy carpet cleaner that gets EVERYTHING out. I scrubbed it and the brown part came out but it left red marks instead. I meant to scrub it again when Kylie went to bed but then I got busy getting DH ready and packed to leave town. sad.gif So I sprayed it again this morning and started scrubbing it and it won't come out for anything! Our carpet cleaner is the bomb and it didn't work on it. bawling.gif The stain is right out in the middle of the floor or else I'd try to hide it. dry.gif

Any suggestions? I'm gonna be in big trouble if it's still there when DH gets home tomorrow. rolleyes.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: eeeekkkk I dont know, I usuually use a oxi based cleaner altho they will build up dirty spots over time so I am finally goint to have the professinaly cleand.....

maybe call some carpet cleaning co and ask if they can recomend something

My2Beauties replied: LOL..I'm sorry I know that totally sucks but I'm just picturing her drawing on the carpet with a bathtub crayon thinking nothing of it emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif I would try OxiClean and if that doesn't work you may have to rent a steamer or call a carpet cleaning place, some of them are fairly cheap if you want just one room done!

Hope it works!

Proudmom2Hope replied: This may seem wierd for me to mention but i saw a show a while ago...they showed us how to use things around the house to clean stains and other stuff. And they said that shaving cream takes stains out of carpets. Im not sure if it will actually work because i never tried it. So try it on a tiny area where no one can see and test it.

kimberley replied: yikes! no idea how to get it out but hopefully one of the other suggestions will work. Kylie is a busy girl lol. rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied: Oooh you ladies are awesome! I'll get my arsenal ready tonight and work on those stains! Thanks! I'll let you know what works tomorrow wink.gif.

jem0622 replied: Get yourself some sure shot. I got black crayon off of my late gma's creme colored couch with it!

coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone. I got swamped with making baby shower favors last night and didn't get to it. sad.gif I had to spill the beans to dh and he wasn't upset. WHEW! But he said he would try the suggestions either today before we leave town or when we get back into town Sunday night.

Boys r us replied: I am IN LOVE with my bottle of Goo gone..I'm also quite fond of Greased Lighting!
Those two things seem to get EVERYTHING out!

Alice replied: You might want to check www.goodhousekeeping.com.

I think I remember reading somewhere to place an old washcloth over it, then go over it with a warm iron. The iron melts the crayon onto the old washcloth. But I would check with good housekeeping first. Good luck!

Mom2Boyz replied: I don't have any advice for you, just wanted to say that I hope you got it out thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Just curious, did anything work? If so, what did you do?

coasterqueen replied:
I'm so embarrased because it is still there on the floor. blush.gif We've been so busy with the basement and other projects that I've let it go to the waste side. blush.gif blush.gif I know I need to get it out, lol.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
what did you dh say about it?

coasterqueen replied:
He wasn't upset. He even forgot about it and asked me again last week what it was, lol. MEN! He said it would try to take the suggestions given to me and work on it when he gets a chance. Who knows when that will be. ROFL.

MommyToAshley replied: No need to be embarassed, we all know how that goes. I was just curious if anything worked. smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
No, I need to be embarassed because I NEED to clean my house. ROFL. I will definitely let you know what works when I do it. We should be done with the basement very soon (mid August) so I may just get some time to do some things around the house that need to be done. ROFL. DH was walking around the house over the weekend wondering what he could wear for underwear because I hadn't done laundry in so long! rolling_smile.gif
