GRRRR how hard is it....

mummy2girls wrote: to take your child out of the car when you need to enter a store...even if its only a couple minute stop in!AND to not keep the car running! on the news it told a story of a mom that ran into the store while her child was sleeping in the backl of the car and the car was still running... a man jumped in and stole the car! GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i get so mad when i see this! How hard is it.. seriously. I know it a pain expecially when the child is sleeping but what would you rather happen... you still have your child or the child gone! Luckily the man was caught and child is safe in the arms of mom!

luvmykids replied: Well with my three it is quite a pain, but it is why I choose not to stop at the store most of the time! I definitely don't leave them in it with it running!

1lilpeanut2love replied: I hear of storeis like this all of the time and it really ticks me off. I am so glad that the child is safe and sound.

Brias3 replied: Exactly what Monica said. It is a huge pain, that's why I only stop if planned or necessary when I have all three along. The only exception for me is when I lock the car and run up to drop a movie or mail in the outside drop box of a location.

NEWMOM05 replied: Oh my goodness this stuff makes me mad. I'm sure you all know how hot summers get in Vegas. Well a couple of years ago SEVERAL parents left kids in hot cars and they died. bawling.gif I can't believe people still do that even if for a minute. Glad this little one is okay. Scary, the stupidity of people out there. growl.gif

sorry to steal your post... unsure.gif

Nina J replied: It's not hard at all. In summer, children die so easily when they're left in cars.
And how could a parent just leave there child, unattended? I couldn't, anything could happen. mad.gif

EvesMom replied: I hate when people do that! growl.gif I even get angry when someone leaves a pet in the car!

b&bsmom replied: growl.gif It is horrible what some parents will do. I agree it is a pain to take them out for a quick run in the store but it has to be done. I have done it with up to 5 kids when I am caring for others. Like tomorrow I am trying to find someone to ride with me because I have to drop my dd off at her play performance at 2. I will have 4 others in the car and at least 3 will be sleeping. If I don't find anyone I WILL take all 5 out to go in and drop her off. It is just something that has to be done. People need to think. growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif

DVFlyer replied: Seems like a case of "nothing bad will happen to me" syndrome. I don't understand the risk they take. Sure, "probably" nothing will happen, but the consequences of that laziness is mindblowing.

Kated replied: Oh I work at a bank and the woman are the same way they leave ababy or young child in the car and then complain if we take too long. Yeah ok bring your kid with you. Poor thing doesnt want to sit in the car anyway. I will bring my baby everywhere. I want one of those cool sacks to carry him or her in.

ilovemybaby replied: I will never leave my kids in the car even if it is locked and we're only going to be a minute. Anything can happen.
I won't even leave Abby in our car in the driveway while we are packing the car when we are going out or when we go grocery shopping and are home unloading the groceries. Fortunately for me I don't drive so if we are using the car it is both of us so we have the two of us to take turns with Abby and the car (standing next to it) while the other runs inside.
I can imagine how difficult it is when there are three or more kids and you are all alone. But I would still haul them all into the store with me. Better to be safe than sorry I guess... but I know I have made decisions to leave Abby alone (in the lounge - hey we all gotta go pee sometime!) or turn my back on her for even five seconds and she once fell off a changing table onto a concrete floor at 9 months old.

I remember seeing a couple of stories on Oprah about kids left in cars. One lady left her three/four kids in her 4WD while she ran inside (her house) and one of the kids found a lighter on the floor and the whole car caught on fire. Every single child but one (I think) was burnt. The oldest and second oldest (I think) were really badly burnt.

Another lady popped into the store and a guy went to steal the car and if I remember correctly... the lady saw him and went to try and remove her baby from the carseat and ended up being dragged along the road and her baby died.

And in NZ I heard about a little girl left in the car and it was stolen, dumped and set on fire and the little girl was burnt to death.
