For those with toddlers over 2 years old...

MommyToAshley wrote: Ashley still takes a nap almost every day. But, none of the kids in the neighborhood that she plays with still do, and I thought that was strange. Most of the kids are at least 6 months to a year older, but I always thought most kids take a nap up till they started kindergarden. I know all kids are different, but I thought it was odd that none of the kids around here take naps.

Ohhhh, I dread the day Ashley gives her nap up, even though it's only an hour.

ammommy replied: Alec is 3.5 and still naps, thankfully. He just needs it. He went a few weeks napping every other day, but thankfully that was just a phase. Shoot, Megan is almost 2 and still takes 2 naps a day thumb.gif

coasterqueen replied: Yep, and thank goodness! tongue.gif Or mommy would be locked up in a straight jacket. rolling_smile.gif

At home she almost always takes at least a 2 hour nap to a 3 hour nap. At daycare she gets anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hour naps. Why on earth she doesn't get a good nap there..DRIVES me crazy. wacko.gif

She's only missed a nap a handful of times.

Kaitlin'smom replied: almost everyday, somedays she wont nap long and others it 2 hours. IMO she still needs it, other wise she can get cranky around 6-6:30p and thats to early for he to go to bed

ian'smommy replied: Ian only naps sometimes. Just to keep my sanity though, I put him in his room for 2 hours. He sometimes naps, most of the time plays quietly. Sometimes does both. He doesn't get overly cranky if he misses a nap unless it was a busier day than normal. So if he chooses to play in his room the whole time, that doesn't bother me. I just need the time to rest, get things done, read a book, etc. So regardless, he gets put in his room. From there, he decides if he is tired enough to have a nap. biggrin.gif

jem0622 replied: Gabe naps 1 1/2 - 2 hrs every day. If his mimi has gone missing then he fights taking a nap.

ETA - Nathan stopped napping regularly after he reached age 4.

5littleladies replied: Brianna still naps some of the time, but alot of the time not. Some days she just doesn't need it. I still try though. rolleyes.gif

stanleygirl replied:

I do the same thing and he has one nap everyday around the same time depending how he feels or what we are doing.
If he does miss his nap he is miserable the whole evening, wants to go to bed early and doesn't sleep well through the night.

DansMom replied: Daniel now naps about 30% of the time, but most of the time he plows on through to 8 or 9 pm, getting up between 7 and 8:30. It does occasionally happen that he gets cranky and difficult at dinner time, and we realize he should have had one that day. He has a lot of energy. When he's either fighting off a bug or he's having a big growth spurt, he naps.

ediep replied: Jason still takes a nap...it is usually about 2 hours. It may be longer if we had a very busy morning or if he didn't sleep well the night before.

paradisemommy replied: taven still naps anywhere from 2 to 3 hours/day..missing his nap maybe four times a month tops..thank goodness - being pg wears me out and i look forward to snuggling and napping with him~~ thumb.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: Cameron almost NEVER naps. If we can exhaust him then he might crash in the late afternoon, wake for dinner and then go to bed right after, but makes him irritable the next day. Usually he just has quiet time for an hour or so with puzzles or books or his leapster, that gives me abreak adn him some downtime.

mama3x replied: My DD isn't 2 yet but close & I am also going by my older DS when he was 2...

DD just went to 1 long nap earlier this year, about 1.5-2.5 hrs long.

DS napped until he finished kindergarten which made 1st grade hard!

Both get/got put down in their cribs no matter what. Mama needs a break! Esp. now with my 4-monther who has no pattern...

iluvmysweetiepies replied: Sophia is four and usually doesn't nap. We have a "quiet time" though where she's in her room, she either plays or once in awhile she naps. Now it just seems like if she naps she stays up later. rolleyes.gif

~KARA~ replied: yep!
If she dosent take one she tries to be in bed before 8 and thats way to early. She would be up at 6am then. She will sleep anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours.

Josie83 replied: No we phased it out a while ago. If she's really tired she'll sometimes just fall asleep in the car but we just moved her bedtime to be earlier wink.gif I thought I would hate it when she gave up her nap in th emiddle of the day but after a while you stop noticing wink.gif xx

chloe&tysmommy replied: Chloe will nap once in awhile... when she was smaller she would nap everyday at a certain time but she just outgrew it. If she wakes up too early she will more than likely take a nap (but is harder to put to bed at night) but most of the time she just goes to bed around 7:30-8:30pm and Tyler goes to bed at the same time so that's when I get my peace for the day happy.gif
