akbutterfly83 wrote: Should I take Mason in to the Dr.? He has a temp of 102.5. and he's teething.. has a tooth, poing threw...

I just wanna know if there is something I can do here....? giver him a cool bath? Tylenal? anything..... or should I just take him in..?

thanks!

ediep replied: tylenol or motrin will help, but I'd call the doc too.

good luck! Hope he is feeling better soon

akbutterfly83 replied: Thanks....

I've never delt with fevers from my little cousin's, when watching them, and so I didn't know what to do.... wavey.gif

amymom replied: Never a cool bath. Always a regular temp. bath. It seems like a cool bath would be the right thing to do but it is not. Other than that call the peds. They will give you good advice.

Jamielou replied: Laney ran a 103.7 temp last thursday and she is teething but i took her in on sat anyway turned out to be ear infections in both ears. I gave her tylenol and rubbed her forhead with a cool wash cloth to cool her down they say you can give motrin in between the tylenol if the fever doesnt stay down. I get real nervous with temps that high carley had a feveral seizure at 4 months old so get scared anytime it gets over 101. But hopefully its just teething, hope he gets better smile.gif

jdkjd replied: I was told by our doctor it give a double dose of tylenol to knock it down and to give regular doses every four hours after that. If the fever doesn't respond or does not stay down by itself after a couple days, I would take him in.

A fever isn't considered a "high" fever until over 102.5.

Also, you could let him suck on a pedialyte popsicle if you feel comfortable doing that-or if you have one of those mesh baby feeders you could put it in...

akbutterfly83 replied: I gave him some Tylenal, and he's sleeping.... He didn't sleep well last night @ all, tossing and turning, aking up ever 45 min to an hour..... wanting me to hold him....

I called the ped department in my hospitel, and the nurses and Dr.'s were all bussy... they said some one would call back, but it's been a while, so I just went ahead and gave him some Tylenal.... and he doesn't feel really warm to the touch like before..... he still feels warm though, just not as bad.....

I was worried because he was really warm to the touch....

He had an ear infection before, and pulled @ his ear, but I haven't seen him do it in the past few days.... I think if he don't get better by tomarrow I'll take him in.....

Thanks for your help everyone.....

akbutterfly83 replied:
I was thinking that... if it doesn't go down then go in...

I was told it's high if it's over 101.4.....

we have the pedia lite popciels, cause he was having them a few weeks ago, when he got a really bad flu that was going around, and he couldn't keep anything down... he reall likes them.... so I'll try that when he get's up....

Mommy2BAK replied: I hope Mason feels better soon!! smile.gif

Alice replied: In addition to all that's been said:

remember, fevers always seem to spike at night, so don't be surprised.

- Dress him in as little as you're comfortable with: maybe a diaper and a onesie with a light blanket-- you want the heat to leave his body.

I hope he's feeling better. My kids always ran fevers when they teethed, and Kira always got a wicked diaper rash too. Poor kiddies!

lisar replied: I was told by my ped that that teething will cause fever but not above 100.9. If it goes higher than that to call them. She said it should not cause one any higher that it would mean infection somewhere. Let us know what happens.

akbutterfly83 replied: I took him in @ 1, cause they called me back and told me to bring him in... but the Dr. said it was just teething, and that he seemed to be ok.... and healthy, other then the fever.... the fever went down by the time I got to the dr.'s office... it was 100.3.....

They weighed him.... last week on wednsday he was 17lb 15oz, and today he was 18lb 4oz..... that's 5 oz in the past 5 days.....

but the dr. told me to keep giving him tylenal, and told me to up the dose from .6 to 1.2.... so I did that.... he's naping now... and been drinking loots of water....

thanks for all the info....

MommyToAshley replied: Glad he is feeling a little better. I probably would have taken him to the ped, at least now you have a little peace of mind.

Poor baby, those toofers are aweful sometimes. If he seems like he is in a lot of pain, you might want to try Hyland Teething Tabs... they worked wonders for Ashley. (They're all natural, non-medicated)

akbutterfly83 replied:
Thanks.... I'll have my DH get some if he's hurtting... he's been fussy/clingy, but I guess that should be normal if they aren't feeling good, or they are in pain....

other then that, he's doing ok.....
