Nina J wrote: Anyone have any favorite quotes? I have 3, all from George Orwell.

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

Happiness can exist only in acceptance.

The very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world. Lies will pass into history.

I really liked what it said in Nicoles (nix4noles) signature awhile ago, We're all the same color, just look at our palms (I think that's what it said) happy.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Thanks Nina! wub.gif

All around my college, we have quotes on just about every wall in every room, including the break room, and daily each instructor has an encouraging quote for the day on the white board.

One of my faves is:

"Whether you think you can or you can't.... you are right." ~~Anonymous

Another one that is on my signature for one of my e-mails is this:]

"There are two theories to arguing with women; Neither one works" ~~ Anonymous laugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. - Edmund Burke

luvmykids replied: "Hit it where it lies", I don't know who "coined" it but it's a commong golf phrase and for me it applies to life too.

"Happiness lies not in getting what you want but wanting what you get."

There are more but I can't think of them right now.

toady_buckshot_noodle replied: biggrin.gif One that comes to mind right now came from a 13 year old friend of my daughter...."LIFE'S A GARDEN...DIG IT!!!"

I think it is cute and to the point.

BAC'sMom replied: Gardening is cheaper than a psychiatrist.

Having kids is like being pecked to death by a duck.

Put on your big girl panties and deal with it!

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.

Brias3 replied: I love this one by Marianne Williamson:

"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond all measure."

My3LilMonkeys replied: I love quotes!!! When I was in high school I kept a notebook of favorite quotes. Here's a few of my favorites:

In the battle of the sexes, we're all sleeping with the enemy - A HS friend of mine

When choosing between 2 evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before - Mae West

Evil will always triumph because good is dumb - Dark Helmut, Spaceballs.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all have to learn to live in the same box - unknown

Man has always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had acheived so much...the wheel, New York, wars, and so on, whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely the dolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than man for precisely the same reason - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Pam, I kept my notebook from high school into college. It started as a creative writing exercise (collect 20 quotes). By the time I turned it in I had near 100.

Here are some of my faves.

"What appears to be the end of the road may just be a bend in the road...so don't slam on those brakes." - Robert H Schuller

Here's one from mil that dh has adopted: "Wish in one hand, spit in the other, see which one fills up the fastest." (A little sad in my opinion, but I still find it funny.)

Even at that early age I had strong convictions about things and having a sister who was so wishy washy in her beliefs.....believing whatever was hip at the time, or switching her beliefs to fit in with whoever she was talking to....drove me insane.

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts...
