Ethan's surgery will be

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: On November 26th. The day after (American) Thanksgiving. I think it will work out perfectly being on that day.

She told me that the anesthesiologist would contact me in a couple of weeks to go over everything with me. After she said the bit about "no eating or drinking after midnight" she lost me on the rest of it. I didn't even think about that. Which is weird b/c I worked in a surgery facility. I honestly have no idea what else she said. unsure.gif The surgery will be at 11 a.m. We have to be at the hospital at 10 a.m. How in the world am I going to handle him not being able to eat??? I don't have a choice. Right now he is sleeping 14 hours at night and hopefully that continues through the next couple of weeks.

Just wanted to let you all know.

A&A'smommy replied: It is going to be just fine!!! ((((HUGS)))) to you because I know your worried, I hope he keeps sleeping like that too, your SO lucky that he sleeps that long!

MommyToAshley replied: Maybe you could just feed him a late dinner or snack and make sure he drinks a lot before he goes to sleep... at least he will be asleep during most of that time and won't miss eating/drinking.

I know it must be tough and you are going to worry, but just try to remember how much better he is going to feel when this is over and done.

And, don't forget to call me (collect) on the day of the surgery and let me know how things are going.

I know everything will be ok, but I am sending lots of calming vibes and P&PT's for you. grouphug.gif

ediep replied: oh Aimee, I know how upsetting this is, but he is going to be just fine. on the night before surgery, maybe just put him to bed a little later than normal so hopefully, he will sleep until you have to leave for the hospital.

ps- how great that he sleeps 14 hours...Jason has never once slept that long in one strech.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

I feel very lucky in that both of my children love to sleep. thumb.gif I wasn't sure about Ethan at first. He is a very light sleeper and some nights he doesn't do so well, but lately he has been sleeping a lot. Could be a growth spurt. dunno.gif Let's just hope he is still growing when the surgery rolls around. emlaugh.gif

Boys r us replied: Ohhh Good Luck Aimee!
I know this will be tough on you and Ethan, but it will all be okay in the end thumb.gif

coasterqueen replied: Ugh! That will be hard not letting him eat anything! ohmy.gif I can't remember if you said you were able to get him back to breast or not?.....I ask because you can almost definately breastfeed up until the surgery since breastmilk has 90 some percent water in it it is allowed. If you aren't then I'm not sure what to say...hopefully he'll be just fine with it. Maybe keep him awake later the night before so he'll sleep most of the morning right before the surgery.

grouphug.gif I'm sure the surgery will go well. wink.gif

My2Beauties replied: That is odd they're having the surgery so late in the a.m, when Hanna had her tubes I couldn't feed her after midnight and they her surgery was at 6:00 a.m., had to be there by 5:00 am. It wasn't so bad since she was still asleep when we got her there!! The nurse told me they always schedule infants early! Well my thoughts and prayers are with you and Ethan! All will go well and keep us updated on how it goes, lucky you that sleeps 14 hours straight biggrin.gif

darrylswifeskylersmom replied: I know how u feel hon!!

DansMom replied: Hugs! grouphug.gif I'll be thinking of you guys on the 26th.

kimberley replied: p&pt for his surgery. i am sure he will be just fine grouphug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I send you good thoguths the day, I am sure everything will be fine.,

TANNER'S MOM replied: It's going to be fine. Kids recover so fast. I promise it will be harder on mom then him! wink.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I'm sure everything will be just fine with Ethan
Let us know how he does grouphug.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif I'm sure that everything will go well! I know it was hard for us when Claudia had her surgery not to give her anything eat. But I think if you bring a lot of toys to distract him, he should be okay. grouphug.gif

MomToMany replied: grouphug.gif Hugs, Aimee! I know it was hard with Logan when he had his surgery at 3 months old. We did a lot of walking and he got a pacifier to suck on, but that was it. It was heart breaking to hear him cry when he was hungry and I couldn't feed him.

And ITA it's awesome he sleeps so long. I hope he continues with that til the surgery. And I agree that's it's harder on Mom than baby.

P&PT's for you guys; I hope it goes well. grouphug.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

Yes I was really hoping to be there at 6.....I don't know why they don't do children first thing in the morning. mad.gif
