Easter Basket Goodies

MommyToAshley wrote: I started to pick up a few things for Ashley's Easter basket. I don't think I am going to put chocolate or candy in there since she hasn't had either yet. (I *MIGHT* put a chocolate bunny) But, I thought I would put some plastic eggs filled with her favorite snacks... cheerios, veggie crakcers, some teddy grahms, etc. in her basket.

I went to the Dollar Sore today and picked up a few things for the basket as well... a couple of books, a puzzle, some sidewalk chalk, some hairbows, bubbles, a sandbucket/shovel set, coloring book and crayons, some silly sunglasses, and playdough. The latter -- the playdough -- has me a little worried, hee hee. Have you given your tot playdough yet and how did they do?

Also, what are you putting in your basket? I remember there was a thread about this earlier, I am just wondering if you have gotten anything yet?

pinka_star replied: I haven't gone Easter shopping yet. I'm not too sure what to put in Emma's basket since she's only 9 1/2 months. Probably a stuffed animal of some sort since she LOVES stuffed animals. The eggs full of their favorite snack is an awesome idea, I think I'll do that for Emma. Not sure what else though, I don't want to put candy in it, I think she's too young for that.

Elle replied: I haven't gone Easter shopping either! I think I'll put a chocolate bunny and candy in each basket, but I'm not sure, this may change any minute. smile.gif

Boys r us replied: Well, my little guy is a little older(almost 2), so he'll definitely be getting some candy in his basket! But in addition, he'll be getting bubbles(this is something even babies enjoy), books, a stuffed animal, a rubber ducky family for the bath tub, some matchbox cars, a small set of leggos to go along with his collection and a few other litle odds and ends!

aspenblue1 replied: I haven't went shopping yet but I was thinking about coloring books and stuff like that.

Elle replied: Bubbles! That's a neat idea! Brighton is only 18 months old, and he's getting some candy, but less than his sisters... So I'll have to put something else in his basket... The bubbles sound cool smile.gif

ediep replied: I got Jason coloring books and crayons, new sneakers, little people school bus....which doesn't actually fit in the basket but thats ok

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif Wow you are really organized Dee Dee. I have 3 children and I haven't even started shopping yet! We also have Emily's 9th Birthday on Easter Monday and we haven't finished shopping for that! This is the second time her birthday has fallen on Easter.

wink.gif Now for the Easter Baskets. In our house we started a tradition and we put lollipops between the rungs on the banister, so as they come down the stairs in the morning they find these lollipops. I overheard them yesterday wondering if the Easter Bunny was going to do this again. I always get them some kind of outdoor play toy (skipping rope, pail and shovel, plastic trucks, little boats, sidewalk chalk, etc.) and they each get a big character chocolate (winnie the pooh, buzz light year, disney princess, etc.), I also buy 2 bags of the foil wrapped eggs and we hide those around the house. I always get them a short set. Emily always gets an egg filled with gummi bears and Spencer gets one filled with m&m's. They don't get too much candy. I love Easter, I just love hiding all the eggs. biggrin.gif

kimberley replied: Jacob is getting a soccer ball, some craft stuff, a coloring book with markers, and probably some doritos (he can't stand chocolate biggrin.gif )

James is getting some chocolate, a coloring book with crayons, a small toy, and bubbles.

Jade is getting an outfit of course and a little stuffed bunny with an adorable easter snow globe. i also ordered two bunny books that come with a little charm bracelet but i don't know if it will be here in time.

i get all their stuff from the dollar store or wal-mart so i am not spending that much money.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Well so far I got her beautiful basket....inside will be a

an short outfit (pink of course)
a swimsuit (she will need several)
A stuffed bunny (I will take her shopping for one)
I also plan on plastic eggs with favorite snacks
and probably some out door stuff, like maybe a hat, sunglasses, pool toys and maybe some money

could be more still need to go shopping for someof it so we will see.

kit_kats_mom replied: Dee Dee. Katherine LOVES her playdough. She calls it "lay-lo" and asks for it from the time we walk in the door. She's been playing with it for months now. It kinda messy but I just put her table on the wood floor, give her the basket of playdough and accessories and let her go nuts.

coasterqueen replied: We've given Kylie home-made play dough and regular play-dough. She tries to eat the home-made kind because it's made with kool-aid so it smells REALLY good, lol. But she does really well with regular play-dough.

I'm not going to put much in Kylie's basket this year because of all we've spent on putting her jungle gym up and the play area around it. Plus DH wants to put a picnic table and umbrella out there and a pool for her.

So....unless I go bonsai (again rolleyes.gif )...I got her some plastic eggs, which I will put a $1 or two in one so she can put it in her piggy bank. She loves putting money in her piggy bank. biggrin.gif The others I will put fruit snacks, crackers, etc, etc. I did get her a chocolate bunny because it's tradition and I wanted to start it this year. She will only get a bite of it, though. I also got her sidewalk chalk, a puzzle, a nice pair of pretty girlie pj's, a travel magnadoodle so she can play with it in the car, one of those cheap little fuzzy bunny banks. I always got one every year as a kid and I loved it. Even though Kylie already has a bank, I just had to get one, lol.

I think that's all I got her. My parents are getting her "sand stuff" for her sandbox, so I don't have to worry about that. I did good this year on not spending much smile.gif

chloe&tysmommy replied: I started on Chloe's easter basket and so far I have:
- a stuffed easter bunny that my mom gave to me when I was younger
- A Winnie the Pooh Story book (it's a really nice thick book)
- 2 coloring books w/ crayons (Bear in the big blue house/ Winnie the pooh)
- bunny ears (from the dollar store)
- plastic easter eggs which I will fill with her fav snacks (I got this idea from this board awhile ago..thanks tongue.gif )
- a chocolate easter bunny (I may help her eat this LOL)
and I have yet to buy her - mega blocks that come in a wagon (another idea from this board haha)
and maybe one more thing....we'll see!

My mom got her a doll stroller which she LOVES, her cousins have one and she had a ball playing with it
- and a tea cart w/ cups, saucers, spoons and a teapot

DansMom replied: I have a beach pail instead of a basket, with sand/water toys. I'll use the easter basket grass stuff, along with plastic eggs filled with snacks he likes, and a pinwheel. He totally loves pinwheels.

Julie (jem0622) replied: We will have an Easter Egg Hunt with my in laws. Whatever they give the boys. I don't plan to do baskets.

Julie

coasterqueen replied:
That's a good idea on the pinwheel smile.gif I got some for Kylie last year to put around her swing so she could look at them while swinging. She loved them. I will have to get her one of them. Thanks for the idea wink.gif

chloe&tysmommy replied:
Hey, that is a great idea! Thanks thumb.gif

I'm going to try and find one and try and jam it into Chloe's basket...it's really full laugh.gif

megsmommie replied: EEKK!!!!!! I haven't even gone shopping yet and I have 4 to buy for this year!!!! I better re read what all you gals are g etting to give me some ideas!!! wub.gif

juliajaj replied: I bought Olivia's basket at Target a few weeks ago. I liked it so much that I went back & bought another one for baby #2 for next year (this way they'll have matching baskets). The baskets appear to be pretty sturdy, so I'm hoping they'll hold up over the years.

Here's what I was thinking of giving her (some of the items won't fit in her basket):

My Little Pony (I won't give her the brush/comb/accessories that come with it since they're so small)
Swimming Hippos bathtub toy
Bathtub mirror (still need to buy this)
Easter book
Picture of Jesus with children for her room (she loves the picture of Jesus we have hanging in our room. She's always smiling at him)
Plastic eggs filled with Goldfish, Teddy Grahams, yogurt raisins, mini-marshmallows, etc.
Chocolate bunny (possibly)

I might take another run to Dollar Tree for a few filler items (I've accumulated some great ideas based on this topic).

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Of course Maddie has had playdough, but she is almost four. I just let her start playing with it this past year. wink.gif

I got her (so far) a jump rope, Strawberry Shortcake plate, cup and bowl set and eating utensils, candy. I'm trying not to go overboard this year, but you have some great ideas. thumb.gif I was wanting to get her a swimsuit and a movie as well.

TeeHee! That is my favorite store!! biggrin.gif

Mom2Boyz replied: I know Conner won't know whether he gets a basket or not, but it's his 1st easter, and I WANT to get him one. Does anyone have any suggestions for goodies for a 4 month old?

coasterqueen replied:
I can't remember..are you feeding Conner solids yet? Kylie was a bit older than Conner last year, but I just put a little stuffed bunny, a jar of peaches...her favorite, and some biter bisquits in her basket. I know I could have gotten her more like clothes and such, but she didn't even know any better so I saved the money wink.gif

payton01taryn01 replied: Message to Connor's mom regarding Easter basket for a 4 month old. I have a 5 month old angel girl and I am putting a purple bunny stuffed animal, a new teether, a pair of pink soft sunglasses, a new swimsuit to match her older brother's, a sun hat, teether biscuits (which she has not tried yet), and maybe a new tub toy since she just began to sit in her bath ring/seat. I am not sure what else. Good luck, Ramona

paradisemommy replied:
i would suggest getting him some more baby toys..rattles, those big teething keys around the ring, maybe some plastic eggs that are just empty but fun to hold or look at (you could fill it with rice or coins) so that it rattles.. wink.gif

3xsthefun replied: I guess I'll be going shopping tomorrow for Kaitlynn and Maegan's easter basket.

I'm not sure what I want to put in their's yet. Probably some candy for Kaitlynn and some other small things. I'll just wait and see what I can find for tomorrow.

Maegan may get a outfit and a small stuff bunny or something.
