Boys r us wrote: volunteered for any charity type organizations?

Boys r us replied: I wish I had more time to do this type of thing these days!

I've volunteered for Big brothers/Big Sisters for several years and when I was a teen I volunteered for a place called Teenline, basically I took phonecalls on a hotline from troubled teens who needed a person to talk to, I had to go through an extensive training class for 10 weeks on how to counsel people before I could do it, but I really enjoyed volunteering..but now with working full time, being mommy and wife and just starting back to college again..my plate is full!

kimberley replied: i haven't really volunteered for a charity but i did volunteer at a midwife clinic. we actually had a 15yo girl have her baby in the office. it was a great place to be smile.gif
and i volunteered at the boys' daycare until they hired me as a casual and a cook for a few months. the only thing i really do these days is make cookies or food for the school or church.

Julie (jem0622) replied: I was a site coordinator for the International Soundex Reunion Registry (ISRR) for the RegDay event one year. Very fulfilling job. Wish I had time to do it every year.

A&A'smommy replied: I helped a crisis pregnancy center with a yardsell once.

kit_kats_mom replied: Before I had Katherine I woke up early every Saturday and drove out to the country and volunteered at the Wildlife Rehab Center. I got to feed wild animals, clean cages and assist the vets. It was mostly orphaned squirrles, possums, raccons and birds but there were some bobcats, owls, hawks, bats, deer, turtles etc. It was pretty cool!

megsmommie replied: Embaressingly enough, no I have not. wub.gif

coasterqueen replied: I did some charity work for a local animal shelter for college, but that's about it. Oh and I did work the breadline one summer in summer camp blush.gif I had always said if I was a SAHM, and my kids were older and in school I would do such work. That will never happen as long as I'm a WOHM sad.gif

CantWait replied: Yup a few...... besides volunteering in school, I've done

Serve Your City Day (twice), this is where a group of people go out and paint a park, clean a local organizations yard, etc...

I've volunteered for a couple years at the Military Family Resource Centre when I lived in Ontario

And also for a deployed wives group for 6 months.

I haven't done anything in the last few years though, I really need to get my butt out there again smile.gif

porksdad replied: spent last 5.5 years working with slum kids in the squatter areas of cebu, philippines, through a church, unpaid smile.gif and funding most of the work myself LOL does that count smile.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
Is that rehab center out there at the Tallahassee Museum off of Lake Bradford? That was a nice place to go and walk around. I think the first time I went out there it was for a class.

I have never volunteered for a charity and I really don't know why. It is something I have thought about doing though.

Elle replied: I used to help a lot with poor kids in mu church when I was a teen... Now I moved to another town and I don't have time to do those things... But I absolutely loved doing that, playing with the kids, most of them were so adorable wub.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
Nope, it's out in Havana. About a 30 minute drive for me but very pretty. I really enjoyed the quiet drives and spending time helping the animals.

We go to the museum that you are talking about at least once a month. It's fun!

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
Oh yes I have been up there. My parents took me up there once when they were visiting. It is a very pretty drive. We stopped at some of the antique places up there.
