Did you turn your child FF when they turned a year - car seats

Dh turned Kylie FF when she turned a year old because she was so unhappy RF. I didn't want to, but reluctantly went along with it with the understanding that if she didn't like being FF then we would turn her back RF. Well, too my suprise she likes FF MUCH BETTER!!!! I've heard people tell me that turning them around doesn't make them happier, but in our case DH proved me wrong. rolleyes.gif

We were traveling not to long ago and I started a bad habit, though. We have a DVD player in the van and too keep her occupied for the 1.5 hour trip I put a movie (Wiggles) in for her. Well, now every time we get in the van, even if it is just a 1/2 mile down the road to the sitter, she looks up at the tv screen like "mommy, aren't you going to put a movie in for me?" LOL. It's cute, but geesh, I started a bad habit. Now if I don't put something on the screen for her she throws a fit. I still don't do it every time. dry.gif

jdkjd replied: Yeppers!! Bailey is much more cooperative...

amynicole21 replied: We haven't yet because Sophia wasn't 20lbs at her 1 year check-up. I think she should be close by now, so we will probably turn her in a week or two. smile.gif

~CrazieMama~ replied: Brianna went forward facing a couple months before she was a year old. She was sooo tall that she did not fit in her car seat anymore. I moved her to a FF carseat early, much easier that way.

MomToMany replied: Hannah was only 18 lbs. at a year, so we had to wait awhile longer. We turned her around a couple of months ago, and it's been very pleasant ever since! She enjoys looking out the front windows (her seat is in the middle seat in our minivan, so she has the perfect view). Plus, she can keep a better eye on Mommy rolleyes.gif .

ediep replied: we just turned Jason around yesterday. He likes it. He was just a few ounces shy of 20 pounds at his 10 month visit, so I know that he is over 20 by now.

aspenblue1 replied: I turned Isabella FF at 1 year she loves it.

Kaitlin'smom replied: sad.gif I cant waite to turn Kaitlin FF. She is just about out of the infant seat so I need to go get a new car seat, guess I will have to get a convertable one.

MommyToAshley replied: Yup! We turned her around FF a few days before her birthday and she LOVED it! She is sooo much happier in the car now, and I am too since I can just turn around and glance at her.

chloe&tysmommy replied:
Thats what happened with us too, Chloe was way too tall for her infant seat so we bought a FF carseat and she was way happier!!

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

Us, too. smile.gif Maddie was blessed with her daddy's long legs so we had to change her way before she turned 1. I'm sure she weighed enough to be FF, too.

paradisemommy replied: yeah - we cheated too - we switched him ff when he was about 9 or 10 months - he was SOOOO much happier - don't blame him - i wouldn't want to stare at the car seat either the whole time rolling_smile.gif
he was already 20 pounds though..and could really hold his head up good.. rolleyes.gif wink.gif

alice&arik replied: I turned Arik's around on his b-day. It is so much easier to keep him happy. Plus he really likes the view, right out he front! For the 1st week or 2 he would cry whenever I stopped, he liked it so much.
