Do your kids have one and how old are they?

Celestrina replied: DS is six and got one for his birthday back in April. He loves it, and we use it as a reward. It is also a godsend when we might need something to keep him occupied, such as a long trip.

CantWait replied: Anthony is 6 and we just got one for him this summer. Dh's idea. He'll go to the gym with me and sit really nicely playing it the whole time I work out. He loves it, but doesn't actually play with it as much as I thought he would, still prefers the T.V.

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley got one for her 6th birthday and loved it. She still loves to play it now. A lot of the Nintendo DS adventure type games require reading, so I don't feel too guilty about letting her play a little each day. I don't think the Mario Racing requires any reading, but I don't remember for sure.

Ashley likes the School Teacher one and the Wizzards for Waverly Place right now. She used to really like the Littlest Pet Shop games. But, the boys seem to really like the Pokemon games.

They are awesome, but I would recommend using it as a reward and still encourage her to do other things. Be careful in choosing what games to get. I've found that just because they are rated E doesn't mean they are for everyone. Also, try and get used games, they cost way less than new ones and most game stores have a great selection.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia got one for Christmas last year. She was eight. It's handy for long car rides or rainy days. She likes it but is not obsessed with it like plenty of kids we've seen.

We have way too many games.

We've had them for a couple of yrs and the boys STILL love them. I think it was a smart purchase, just watch how much he plays it. My boys would play all day if they could.

coasterqueen replied: I think he'll like it. My friend's son is 5 and he's had one for awhile now. Kylie got one for Christmas last year and she plays it, but not near as much as my friend's son does. He's borderline addicted to it. Kylie usually plays it when we travel.

You just have to be careful because alot of games have alot of reading. And being 5 Jacob can't read. So he always comes to me and says mom..what does this say?
