Creative Memories digital scrapbooking software

coasterqueen wrote: Anyone use this? I bought it back in October of last year and just installed the software today. I actually bought the software, not using the free version. My question is do you have to go with one theme for the entire book or can you mix and match the themes throughout the book?

coasterqueen replied: I figured it out, never mind. blush.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: I saw a demo of it at a crop I went To last Fall. It looked pretty cool for digital scrappers! Are you liking it? Finding it easy to use? Can you mix the styles within a book? Inquiring minds want to know rolleyes.gif

coasterqueen replied: Cheryl, you can change themes throughout the book. I still have two months in 2006 to scrapbook in an old program, but I was so excited after installing this new program that I'm going to have to work on it tonight at home. I had planned on doing 2007/2008 in the new program. biggrin.gif So I'll let you know how it goes after I've played around with it.

I just use the pre-designed templates as I don't have a lot of time to mess around with designing my own. I'm not sure if you do that or not. I've seen a finished product at another party and it looked great. I'd love to get away from printing and using binders like I do now, and going with the bound book.

CantWait replied: Ok, question...

Is it like a scrapbook where you can actually scan through pages like a book on the computer, or is it only for printing and have to open it page by page in seperate files?

Does that make sense at all?

coasterqueen replied: Yes this program lets you look at the thing like a book. My old program was where you had to save it one page at a time. I really like this new program. So far it's easy to use. thumb.gif

booey2 replied: Awesome, thanks for the reviews, now I am going to go and find it as I really want to start digitally scrapping, it is way easier for me and less time consuming. I told my mom about it and she didn't like the idea of all the cutting and pasting on the computer, but I told her it beats real cutting and pasting and I do it all day at work anyway. LOL

coasterqueen replied: Before you buy the program, which I can't remember how much it cost - I think it was $45, you can download the free version on Creative Memories site. I recommend doing this if you haven't had a demo done of the program. I bought the program only after I saw the demo in person.

booey2 replied: Thanks for the heads up, will do it tonight from home either from my laptop or one of the boys computers. Theirs are faster than my laptop and I really shouldn't do it here at work. rolling_smile.gif They actually expect me to work here, the nerve. tongue.gif

CantWait replied:
Thanks. thumb.gif thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: hummm I might give this a whurl. can you have it printed though? so if I wanted a 'hard' copy?

mom21kid2dogs replied:
Yes you can. Many sites (shutterfly, etc) now print 12X12's. I always get hard copies of my digital pages at Archivers.

Karen~One of my sisters friends got the program at a crop we were at and has never scrapped another paper page since. She just loves it. I still love playing (and buying) my paper but you can't beat digital for speed! I've done some digital books as gifts and they are so fun to do! One more question though. Can you import other digital images (like embellies or specialty paper downloaded from another site) into the CM program? I can do it with Scrapbook Factory but didn't know if you could do it with the CM. Do they add other digital features periodically or is what you buy what you get forever?

coasterqueen replied:
I am absolutely LOVING this program. tongue.gif I love it so much I got 1/2 of 2007 done already for both girls. blush.gif

Cheryl - to answer your question I'm not sure. It appears that you can, but since I just use the templates already given (I'm SO lazy) I can't say for certain. There are free download templates that you can get off their site and as of right now there are 4 additional ones you can buy for $7.95 each. I bought the other four as well. I was told they are updating all the time, but I can't answer for sure if what you buy will be all you get. I know they've upgraded several times since their initial run of the program.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Souds like you can definately get "updates" with it then. I might just have to go to CM and download their demo. $45 is very reasonable for the program. I SUPPOSED to be saving for my Cricut but what the heck~I can always mooch my sisters! Thanks for the info, Karen!

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif Just don't hold it against me if you don't like it. tongue.gif I'm a very odd individual and it always seems that what I like others don't. I'm not a "true" scrapper. I'm a lazy one and when I find programs that have a lot of templates and make my digital scrapping easier I run with it. happy.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
so if I make one I can print the album out?

coasterqueen replied:
Yes, you can send it to them to be printed or you can print it yourself.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Di~
Here's the link (although Karen already answered your question) for the free download

Karen~
I saw the demo at a crop, too, and thought the software looked pretty cool. BTW, digital or traditional scrapper, one's not more or less than the other. It's just about preserving the memory IMO. I love the digital books!
