Chronicles of Narnia

cameragirl21 wrote: i was just watching this movie (again rolleyes.gif ) before going out tonight and i must say i absolutely love it...wouldn't we all love to find an alternate world that we could get to just by crossing through a wardrobe where animals talk and some are part animal and part human and the best part--that time completely stands still while you're there and you can go there for what seems like years and then come back as if you never left?
idk about some of you but i guess i haven't grown up yet because i get so jealous of these kids when i watch the movie...it's such a wonderful idea.
also, i think the animals look so real...the beavers look fake but that lion looks very real, that's some amazing CGI, don't you think?

luvbug00 replied: I was gonna watch it tonight. Love it ! thumb.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: The girls have it, but have never watched it. I have watched the first couple of minutes or so, but not any other parts.

I may just watch it one day after all.

A&A'smommy replied: I look forward to watching the next one I should read the books but I haven't made myself do it yet.... but anyway I look forward to finding out how they get to narnia in the next movie, when does the next one come out.

Crystalina replied: You know what I'm jelouse of is that wardrobe. I love that thing and it would look so good in my house. cool.gif Could you imagine the price tag on that baby? I told my FIL to look at it carefully and make a replica because Christmas is a-coming. Yeah right, he's good at woodwork but that would be hard.

I watched the movie once and I don't want to spoil it but let's just say I cried my eyes out and will not watch it again. Anyone who watched probably knows what I'm talking about. It is a very very good movie though. wink.gif

Nina J replied: I love that movie, but I love the books even more wink.gif

withchild334 replied: I want to buy the film for my kids. (Mental note to put on xmas list).

redplaydoh replied: My mom sent me this DVD when it came out, I have yet to watch it... maybe now I will, it sounds interesting to say the least.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I've never seen it blush.gif

Crystal... ENTER for your chance to win a replica of the wardrobe. wink.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Does anyone know the history behind that movie? It's pretty interesting. smile.gif I haven't seen it, but I have heard rave reviews from many people.

mom2my2cuties replied: The history behind the story is amazing. Crystal - they sell a VERY similar one at the Antique store here for $2500.

It is a GREAT movie - I love watching it, but the books are more memorable to me

Nina J replied:
The movie is from a book in the Narnia series..there are 7 books in total I think, I can't remember off the top of my head. The lion, the witch and the wardrobe was writen first, but then C.S Lewis wrote 'The Magician's Nephew', which takes place before the movie.

I got this off wikipedia:

"The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven fantasy novels for children and is considered a classic of children's literature. Written between 1949 and 1954 and illustrated by Pauline Baynes, the series is Lewis' most popular work having sold over 100 million copies in 41 languages (Kelly 2006)(Guthmann 2005). It has been adapted several times, complete or in part, for radio, television, stage, and cinema. The series has been published in several different orders, and the preferred reading order for the series is often debated among fans.

The books contain many allusions to Christian ideas which are easily accessible to younger readers; however, the books are not weighty, and can be read for their adventure, colour and richness of ideas alone. Because of this, they have become favourites of children and adults, Christians and non-Christians. In addition to Christian themes, Lewis also borrows characters from Greek and Roman mythology as well as traditional British and Irish fairy tales. Lewis reportedly based his depiction of Narnia on the geography and scenery of the Mourne Mountains and "that part of Rostrevor which overlooks Carlingford Lough". Lewis cited George MacDonald's Christian fairy tales as an influence in writing the series.

The Chronicles of Narnia present the adventures of children who play central roles in the unfolding history of the fictional realm of Narnia, a place where animals talk, magic is common, and good battles evil. In the majority of the books, children from our world find themselves transported to Narnia by a magical portal. Once there, they are quickly involved in setting some wrong to right with the help of the lion Aslan who is the central character of the series."
