PrairieMom replied: so what are the arguments either way? IMO its called cheeseCAKE
indywndy_04 replied: To me, Cake is bread like...and Cheesecake is more creamy, not cake like. I think we should call is Cheesepie...ha, boy that sounds gross!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well I've never seen a Cheesecake that looks like a pie, and since, you know, it's CheeseCAKE, I voted cake...
I suppose if it was in a pie crust, I'd call it a pie...
indywndy_04 replied: But - it is in the same crust as a Key Lime Pie. So, that is why I call it a pie.
msoulz replied: Call it whatever, just send me a piece!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Key lime pie is in a PIE crust... cheesecake is not.... lol
at least not the ones I've seen
sparkys2boys replied: Ummmm Rocky.. was that sopposed to be a help..lol???
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well, it was a help for me...
sparkys2boys replied: Ummmm okies!! Im still confused!!
Cece00 replied: Actually I dont think it is either.
Correction, apparently it is a cake.
>>A cheesecake is a sweet, cheese-based dessert. The combination of its crust and filling (typically containing eggs, cream, and a soft fat like cream cheese) make it a closer relative of custards like buttermilk pie or creme brulee than of a traditional cake, though cheesecake is still cake. The first recorded mention of cheesecake was during the ancient Grecian Olympic games in the occidental world. Cato the Elder wrote of cheesecake preparation in his farming manual "De Agri Cultura".
grapfruit replied: Well I guess that settles it!

Kaitlin'smom replied: huh, I have always thought of it as pie since its in a pie crust, never seen it like a cake. Oh and thanks for the info deffinalty interesting.
Mommy2BAK replied: The only way I've ever had it was in a graham cracker pie crust
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I've had it on graham cracker crust... but it was just on the bottom.
I've ever only had cake shaped cheesecake. The crust was only on the bottom, not like a pie where it comes up the sides. And it's high... like 3 inches.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I didn't vote because I consider cheesecake to be an entity of it's own.
**Licks lips and wishes this darn diet was over**
My3LilMonkeys replied: Me too....I never considered it a pie or a cake.....it's just cheesecake.
BabyOwen427 replied: I asked my home ec teacher this question in highschool and she was stumped too I always make it in a pie plate with graham cracker crust so for me it's a pie although I've seen it as a cake and I like it that way too

indywndy_04 replied: No, it is in a Graham Cracker crust like Cheesecake is in.
Those two are my favorite, so I make them all the time....YUMM!!
CantWait replied: I agree, but I voted cake.
Kaitlin'smom replied: so I guess the real answer is its BOTH
Calimama replied: Same here! I voted pie.
redchief replied: It's a cheese custard pie.
MotherForever2043 replied: I think it'a a pie. But, the big question is; where's my piece? It's my FAVORITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HuskerMom replied: I can't stand cheesecake but I've always considered it a pie. Even though I don't like it I make a mean cherry cheesecake.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I've always considered it a cake, but have to agree with Kelly that it's in its own category.
