The "...Baby One More Time" singer gave birth to a baby boy Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles. The child is Spears' first; Federline's third. He has two young children from his previous relationship with actress Shar Jackson.

According to U.K.'s Sky News, Spears was considering naming her and Federline's child London, after the British capital where their romance blossomed. Us Weekly's sources had the singer set on Preston Michael Spears Federline. Spears' publicist had no official confirmation.

The 23-year-old Spears recently told Elle that she considered pregnancy "mindblowing." "And therapeutic--all the secrets from your family come of the closet," she said.

One aspect of the life cycle Spears was not looking forward to was the business of labor. Saying she didn't "want to go through pain," the pop star told the magazine, "I have a feeling I'm going to have an operation [a Caesarian section]. I don't know why, but I hope so."

Per reports, Spears' dream came true. The entertainer, accompanied by Federline, checked into an L.A. hospital about 6 a.m. to undergo a C-section.

Througout Wednesday, the tabloids and glossies jostled with each other over the baby story--treating the birth like hard-news outlets treat election night, with each seeking to be the first to call it.

The National Enquirer was first out of the gate at about 9 a.m. with news of Spears begin admitted to the hospital for a C-section. Life & Style followed with a press release outlining alleged complications. Us trumped everyone with a press release announcing the birth; the magazine sent out the alert at 1:30 p.m.--just a half-hour after Baby Spears made his debut.

Spears and Federline, a 27-year-old former backup dancer, wed last year, only months removed from Spears' 55-hour marriage to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander, and the birth of Federline's second child with Jackson.

In the wake of her marriage, Spears, a media magnet since the age of 17, split with her longtime manager, declared her intention "to just chill," put down roots in a $6.9 million Malibu mansion and talked about her desire to start a family.

Spears and Federline confirmed the "wonderful news" of their pregnancy in April. Days later, the duo launched another joint production: Britney & Kevin: Chaotic, their little-watched UPN reality series.

The arrival of Spears' baby nearly coincides with Thursday's launch of Spears' new fragrance. In a note to fans, the singer described Fantasy Britney Spears as a "completely magical" blend of "enchanting scents and flavors," with "a hint of cupcakes."

zdk753 replied: All I got to say is I feel sorry for that poor baby.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: baby.gif Glad the baby is healthy-but I think too much money does crazy things to some people! wacko.gif emlaugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I wonder how long it will be till Kevin ditches this family for a new one??? Sorry,,,I have no respect for a man that leaves his pregnant fiancee just to hook up, marry and knock up another one.....plus he looks nasty.

MM'sMama replied:
dito.gif

I just hope the baby turns out ok wacko.gif

MomToMany replied: sad.gif Poor kid, I feel sorry for him too. THAT relationship isn't going to last!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh boy! That poor child. tongue.gif Atleast she named the child something normal.

Did anyone else think she looked like a COW???? She is SO gross. I dont' think she ever even wore maternity clothes. blink.gif I wonder how many weeks it will take her to lose her weight.

luvbug00 replied:

None she got a tummy tuck too I bet. I think she had a c-cection for that reason. rolleyes.gif

I really feel bad for that kid and having to have all his friends make fun of him for all the stuiped stuff she did and continues to do .... mad.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Oh. Didn't think of that. I bet you are right...that's why she scheduled the c-section. dry.gif

A&A'smommy replied: That just pisses me off.... People like that should NOT be alloud to have babies!! Maybe she will grow up and COME ON I KNOW she chose to have a c-section why in the freakin world would you put yourself and your body through something so incredibly huge and dangerous just so you don't have to feel the pain c-sections are painful too she is an idiot!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: That tummy tuck will be even worse pain! blink.gif She doesn't know what she has coming. I don't know of a doctor that would do that, but I guess Hollywood is different. dunno.gif

CantWait replied: What a pathetic excuse for having a C-section. That poor baby. She gained so weight I bet she's just racing to the plastic surgeon. I hope they're happy though dunno.gif At least that baby will have everything it will ever want or need.

MommyToAshley replied: I'm glad the baby is healthy. And I hope they work out and stick together for the baby.

But you are probably right....

She had "knee surgery" and came with boobs two cup sizes bigger, so now she has a "c-section" and will probably come out with a waiste two sizes smaller. laugh.gif Shame on me, did I just say that? blush.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: I wish their family the best! wub.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

yessmiley.gif Yep you sure did!!! yessmiley.gif And I am cracking up!!! emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

mom2three replied: Not a Spears fan myself
She so much reminds me of a kid from the wrong side of the tracks.
Poor lil baby

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
I was going to say the same thing. And I bet a v delivery hurts for less time than a c-section.

DblTblDad replied:
I agree. If I was that baby and I grew up to find out what my mother had done, I'd be embarrassed. I don't think Brittany Spears can take care of a baby. Look at her lifestyle. C-sections are risky and to have one just because you don't want to feel pain is stupid. I've been around people who had c-sections and they're in a lot worst shape than women who gave birth vaginally a lot of times. Suck it up woman.

Jamison'smama replied: Well, I wish they'd given me a tummy tuck following my second C-section!!! ---And a few other procedures for that matter.

luvbug00 replied: This morning they had doctors on the radio BLASTING her for doing the c-cestion and saying that the baby was brought out premituere to it's "real" birthdate and that it was alredy a bad parenting choise. ( the doctors said) I understand for emergencies such as baby in stress buit she did it so it wouldn't hurt. wacko.gif

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif I told Dh that if I didn't get to have a VBAC with Megan and had to have a c/s he better line a doc up to do a tummy tuck at the same time. Didn't happen, though. happy.gif

Whitney&Candace'sMommy replied: she's so crazy, at least with a vaginal birth you only really have the pain when your giving birth. I'd much rather have that than have someone cut into my uterus without no real reason, I mean the people who get c-sections actually need them, they don't usually want them because of the pain. One of my sister had a c-section because she didn't want to feel the pain, I'm pretty sure she didn't want the baby either because if she hasn't got the nanny looking after it she loads it off on the house-keeper dry.gif

My2Beauties replied: OMG that girl just has no class whatsoever! Scheduling a surgery for the sake of not going through the pain is really actually very dangeruos! The recovery from a c-section is 10x worse than the recovery from a vaginal delivery - I bet she didn't think of that one - Oops! wacko.gif I have no respect for her or him, he is such scum, a man who leaves his preggo fiance to go off and marry some sleazebag who has money is scum in my book! Ha Britney will be paying his child support anyways rolling_smile.gif
