Blood test results

hopefulmomtobe wrote: I have been waiting and taking pregnancy tests, went to the doctors and got blood work done to get the quanitive blood count of hormone levels....they called and said it was negative.

I have never ever expierenced anything like this before, I am nauseous and it can't be in my head because I am fine with the results either way but I just was shocked to hear that it was negative.

The doctors office told me to take another test next week, but I am just going to not think about it anymore and give it some time.

Has this happened to anyone else?

When am I suppose to even start trying again, I dont even know now when to expect my AF. wub.gif

ashtonsmama replied: I don't know what to tell ya. But good luck!
hug.gif

youngmomofone replied: Yep a lot recently. I just started af yesterday after almost 3 months without having one, and let me tell you there were several times when I thought I was pregnant. I wasted tons of tests, but for once Im glad to see her show so I can start fresh.

hopefulmomtobe replied: I agree, I want to go ahead and start so I know when to try again. The nurse mentioned to me that you are most fertile right before you start and if I happened to get pregnant then all the test would come back negative because I would only be like 2-3 weeks. She told me to test again right next week. I have never ever missed, well except for being pregnant, but I have never missed just out of the blue and I am feeling sooooo nauseaus just like every other time being pregnant. Wierd! I guess only time will tell, so I am not thinking about it anymore and just waiting. (sooo hard though!)

Keep me updated on your progress and I will write back with mine! smile.gif

Greetings from Atlanta!!

Wendy

2BMom replied: It happened to me too. I went to the Doctor and it was negative also. The doctor told me "Sometimes when a woman is trying to become pregnant she starts feeling things that point to pregnancy, because she just wants to be pregant so much".

Jerk!

I told him "That is an interesting theory, but I was not TRYING to get pregnant. So I guess it does not apply to me." tongue.gif

I love my doctor, but he is a man and I swear (sorry to be sexist), but sometimes they are just so clueless. growl.gif

Funny thing is... The possibility of me being pregnant made my husband and I really think about having a baby. When it turned out I was not pregnant... we were a bit disappointed. rolleyes.gif So we started trying. Funny how things work out, huh?

I just finished ovulating, so we will see if anything took place this month.

Good luck to you!

hopefulmomtobe replied: Keep me posted on your progress! I have not started yet so I am not sure when we are suppose to start trying again...

Let me know!!! BEST OF LUCK!!

My2Beauties replied: Actually the best time to try (when you ovulate) is approximately 7 days after your period, not right before! I just thought I'd let you know, that nurse gave you incorrect information. I just recently found out I was preggo through a blood test and the nurse told me that they can tell up to 72 hours after conception with blood tests, so it's possible you could have conceived within the last 72 hours and it not have showed up but I doubt you would be feeling sickness yet.

hopefulmomtobe replied: That is what I thought to....I also read that you can actually get pregnant during your period. I guess anything is possible but maybe not highly likely. Since I skipped this period, I am 2 weeks 2 days late..I am assuming I should just wait when I start. Who knows when that will be...I thought this would be a little easier. smile.gif I have been on BC for the past 7 years. I have three children from a previous marriage and my husband and I have been trying for one for about 3 months. After getting off the pill, i had 2 normal cycles. So, I thought that if I was going to miss from just getting of the pill, then I should have missed in the beginning and not just out of the blue now.

Wierd! Thanks for writing and I love your pictures!!!

2BMom replied:
I have noticed that on different sites, when you should ovulate can be a day or 2 different.

This is what my doc told me...

He said you ovulate about 8 days after the first day of your last period. So, he suggested that I...

Get a calendar and count out eight days from the 1st day of my last period and then make love 4 days before it and 4 days after it.

So, I would end up doing IT the the 4-12 days after the 1st day of my last period.

Make sense? Hope it works!!!

I also read somewhere on the internet that the chance of pregnancy increases if the woman has an O! HA! blink.gif

2BMom replied:
Whoops, I mad a booboo. I should have said....

He said you ovulate about 12 days after the first day of your last period. So, he suggested that I...

Get a calendar and count out 12 days from the 1st day of my last period and then make love 4 days before it and 4 days after it.

So, I would end up BD'ing the 8-16 days after the 1st day of my last period.

hopefulmomtobe replied: Hi guys, just checking back in with you. Well, I took an HPT yesterday afternoon and it came up positive...it didnt show up right away but took about 5-10 minutes and I looked at it this morning and it is still there as a positive. It had two tests in it so I took the other one and it was positive but lighter. I showed them both to my girlfriends just to confirm and they agreed they were both positive smile.gif A friend suggested that I take another test first thing in the morning, so I did that with a First Response Test today and it came up negative.

What do you guys think?

2BMom replied: Talk about confusing!!! You Poor thing.

When was the last time you had your period? When should you be getting it this month?

2 positive tests is a good sign. BUT the results my not be valid if it took 5-10 minutes to show up. I thought the instructions usually say that after 5 minutes the test results are no longer valid.

You may need to take a trip back to the doctor to verify.

Good luck and let us know. hug.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: I am so sorry you are going through this - I had to deal with something similar with Andrea -

But about the tests - the reason that they tell you not to look at it later than the time limit - is because every woman carries very low levels of HcG in her body - and usually after the test sits you get a false positive because of that.

ETA - Here is a website that you should check out - some interesting information about tests and the info I gave you above Pee On A Stick

hopefulmomtobe replied: Your right, but I have taken plenty of tests during this month (because I am so late) and they all said negative with no sign...ever of a positive appearing...so, this is the first time I have had two say positive and stay there.

I have seen that website...it is great!!

Thanks for writing back! smile.gif

Congrats on your new news too...

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
Usually the directions say that not to read it after 10 minutes, so if you got a positive within 5-10 minutes I don't think it would be an evaporation line. It might just be taking a bit longer to show up because your levels aren't high yet. I saw your ticker said you were on cycle day 52 ~ could you have ovulated late?

KUP!! hug.gif hug.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: Yep, that is what I am thinking too...that is what the nurse said when I talked to her a couple of weeks ago and she told me to take an HTP this week. I think I am preggo because looking at this test...it says positive for sure, everyone that I have shown it to is hugging me saying congrats..ha, but of course I am questioning it because I want it to actually be a 100% positive. smile.gif

I will retest in a couple of days to see if it says positive again or not. I don't want to go in for another blood test because I will feel stupid. I have an OB appt on the 11th of Oct, so I will just wait until then.

I was also told not to take different brands of tests real close to one another because one may say yes, were another may say no. It all depends on the sensitivity.

Thanks guys... baby.gif <-----hopefully

mom2my2cuties replied:
Crappy - I quoted the wrong post - oh well - I am with Roosmomma - I think your ovulation sounds like it might be off by a few days - I would check an ovulation predictor.

youngmomofone replied: I really hope it is a positive for you!! Let me know asap!!

hopefulmomtobe replied: Ok guys.....great news. I took my friends advice and went over to the doctor across the street from my office and asked them if I could do a pregnancy test to confirm, they did it for free...(wow!) I wasn't expecting that...It is confirmed. It was positive! So....this goes to show that anything is possible, I am 4 weeks late and it is just now showing up as a positive. smile.gif

I was on the bc for 7 years, I stopped taking them July and started trying August....the first month I tried...I got pregnant. smile.gif

Best of luck girls!

Names already picked out: Jake Benjamin and Amberlie Grayce baby.gif

Tons of baby dust to you all!!!

mom2my2cuties replied: CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! smile.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: Thank you! I got excited and changed my ticker. smile.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: You might want to make a new post smile.gif And post it in General Discussion smile.gif We LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear about the new and coming sweet peas.

hopefulmomtobe replied: Thanks...As I agree with that...I also want to continue supporting everyone here and to let them know that there is hope and not to get discouraged. I also want to keep up with their progress too. smile.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: smile.gif That is so sweet of you smile.gif

Some of the women have been trying to concieve for a long time - smile.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: I am spotting brown. This cant be good right?

Any advice?

mom2my2cuties replied: Well first and foremost - Call your doctor NOW!

And it could just be from the exam (can't remember if you said you had a pelvic or not) but sometimes those cause very light bleeding.

hopefulmomtobe replied: ok, did. They said it is normal and not to worry unless it gets worse.

Thanks!

mom2my2cuties replied: Glad it was nothing to worry about smile.gif

jcc64 replied: The spotting can be normal- it's even got a name- inplantation bleeding. I had it with my dd (now 4), right around the time I would have gotten my pd, had I not been pg. Unless it becomes heavier and redder, I wouldn't worry about it.
Congratulations!

hopefulmomtobe replied: Thank you for your reply....unfortunetly I did start bleeding more red, not heavy but it is like a normal period.

mom2my2cuties replied: You should probably go into the ER and be checked. sad.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: I called the nurse and she said they are going to do blood work to see if I still am pregnant or not and take it from there. I know what you mean though, I feel like I should go to the ER, but she told me to just hang tight and if it gets worse to call her back, but they want to give it a couple of days to see if I am still registering positive or if maybe it did miscary. sad.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: I'm sorry sad.gif I tend to be a little over-cautious and honestly - If I waited around and found out I miscarried days earlier I would be ticked that they made the agony of not knowing keep going longer than it needed to...So I would go in anyway to get checked.

hug.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: I am going to see my doctor tomorrow, I feel more comfortable with him. I took a pregnancy test and it said negative.

This is God's way. He knows best. I am just keeping the faith.

mom2my2cuties replied: He does know best. A miscarriage is always a small risk of having a pelvic. sad.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I really don't know what to say.

youngmomofone replied: hug.gif Im so sorry! sad.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: Thank you, I go to the doctors today to make sure everything is ok and to hopefully get the green light that it is ok to try again.
