Birth Announcements.....??????

akbutterfly83 wrote: Just a quick question, cause my DH says they are too exspensive..... so we weren't going to.... until my dad said he wanted us to have them and that he would pay for them.....

He said he want's his first grandbaby to have them...... for sure..... And since we have everything we need so far.... he said he didn't get a chance to get us anything we need..... so he wanted to do this.......

So I was just checking to see what you all thought.......

A&A'smommy replied: I didn't buy them for Alyssa because at the time I didn't have the money, I personally think they are really neat and say go for it!!! I want to do it next time I have a baby but I want to send out pictures of Alyssa and the new baby saying something about welcome my new sibling I think that would be neat thumb.gif

party-of-six replied: They do not have to be fancy and you can even print them yourself on the computer. I for one rely on a birth annoucement to send an appropriate gift for a baby, expecially if it is not someone that I am terribly close to such as my husband's cousin. She has not sent announcement one....and of course, I have no idea of sex of baby, name (for embrodiery) or weights/length's for clothes sizing.
Just a thought.

deimer replied: I got announcements for both my dd at www.InvitingSmiles.com. They are really cute, but I guess it depends on how many you plan to send out, etc.

If you have a decent printer, there is another website I found where you can order any of their card designs as blank cardstock - www.storkexpress.com. I just ordered some baby shower invitations for a girlfriend and the ones I chose were only $1.00 a card with free shipping over $50. I think that is the average cost for most of the cards they sell. In addition, they can give you wording ideas or there is a website called www.verseit.com that can also give you wording ideas.

Hope this helps - let us know what you come up with!! smile.gif

MichaelsMommy replied: I had mine done at the kiddie kandids inside the babies r us.
They did a great job.

Allyson&Patrick'sMom replied: With Patrick, I made my own with stamps from Stamping up....... wacko.gif Stressed me out to no end. PIA!

With Allyson, I ordered them from a magazine, I ordered the candy bar wrappers and they were so much easier. Not to expensive either. But, that was 8 years ago.

amynicole21 replied: I agree that it doesn't have to be anything fancy. Even if you just make a card on your computer with a pic of the baby (I think that's always a nice touch - everyone wants to see pics smile.gif it would be great!

kit_kats_mom replied: I made/bought some but they were pretty inexpenisve.
I put our favorite photo of DD on either Shutterfly.com or Ofoto.com and ordered photo postcards for everyone. I put the stats on the back.
The best part was that they mailed them all out so that took a bit of the hassle out of it for me.

moped replied: Sort of............they were just a greeting card that was a pic of him and said "its a boy" and some that said thank you for gifts........sent them to people in our families etc........

Everyone likes a picture

Mommy2BAK replied: I think they are very cute, but not neccesary. But I have even seen some at Wal-Mart that were very cheap.

MomToMany replied: I never did them with any of mine. Call me lazy, but I'd rather spend time with my baby than address a bunch of cards. Besides, I don't know who I'd send them to anyway! I don't know that many people!

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
That is an AWESOME idea and so perfect for a new mom! thumb.gif

DansMom replied: I did buy them and sent a wallet picture (printed on my computer) with each announcement. I really appreciate getting them. My cousin had a baby daughter in September, and I don't even know how to spell her name yet. Nobody in the family seems to know!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I sent them out. Almost all of our family lives out of town. wink.gif I made them on the computer. They were so easy and very elegant. wink.gif Both of them had a picture at the top.

elvisfan replied: I never did them with any of my kids. I called everyone I was close to. And I don't have that many friends so I didn't worry about getting any.

Kila replied: I just did Sydney's and went through shutterfly.com. They have some cute borders you can choose from. We just combined her birth announcement and CHristmas card into one. I think we paid a little over $20 for 25 announcements plus envelopes.

jolene555 replied: I took a really cute picture I had taken myself and made wallets of it on that scanner thing at WalMart. Then I made label stickers of her name, weight, etc. and put those on the back, and put them in my thank you cards from my shower. LOL. I also threw in change of address cards. I used those stamps for all they were worth.

bucky replied: If someone else is paying, definately!!

If you have the extra few bucks, why not!

But I voted no because we didn't have any of that.. I just made a web site and put all the pics online and shared it with the world. biggrin.gif
