Ashley is going to be a flower girl, have a ?

MommyToAshley wrote: Ashley is going to be a flower girl in May. The bride is going to pick out the dresses this weekend and asked me what size she should get Ashley. She is in 18-24 months now, what do you think? My first reaction was 2T, but then I remembered that wedding party attire usually runs small... do you think I should tell her to go with 3T? We can always take it in if needed. HELP! I am clueless as to how much she will grow between now and May.

maliksmommy replied: I would say a 3T because it is easier to alter to a smaller size than to a bigger one. She is going to be the cutest flower girl ever!

aspenblue1 replied: I would say 3T it is easire to make it smaller than to make it bigger

5littleladies replied: I guess I'd say 3T also. Bigger is usually better, although when my dd was in a wedding when she was 3 we got her a size 4 dress and it fit the brides 8 year old sister. Sizes are crazy to figure out! It was ok when we took it in but you could tell it had bee altered quite a bit. Still-its much easier to take it in than let it out so bigger is probably better.

I bet she is going to be adorable!!! wub.gif

coasterqueen replied: I would say 3T, too. I know my Kylie can wear *some* 2T stuff now, but mainly wears 18 to 24 mos It would be easier to "trim" the dress down in size than add more material wink.gif

That is sooo cool she is going to be a flower girl wink.gif I want Kylie to be a flower girl. Sniff. The only way that will happen is if my sis gets married and she's probably gonna be an old fart before that ever happens, lol. She's only 23 now, but she has no plans to tie herself down as she puts it.

jem0622 replied: ITA with the others. 3T. Always better to have the room and take it in then to be stuck with a dress that doesn't fit right! It's hard to add fabric!

MommyToAshley replied: I think you are right... I will call her and tell her 3T. I wish I could pick out the dress or at least have some say in it. I know that sounds silly, it is her wedding and she should get to pick the dresses. I just hope she picks something cute. I sound aweful, don't I???!!!?? I should be ashamed of myself! blush.gif

5littleladies replied:
No don't be. When Maddie was a flower girl her dress was this strange sagey green color and I didn't really like it. And it was 150$!!!!! She looked cute though. I'm sure Ashley will look adorable in whatever she wears!!

chloe&tysmommy replied: oh my, she is going to look so beautiful! I can't wait to see pictures....

I agree to go with the bigger size smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Definetly go with the bigger size that way you can take it in. Maddie was a flower girl in May of 2002...a month before her second birthday. She did really well. Her dress was pretty and it was a little big (2T) but she is small. Tall, but small. wink.gif

Here are some pics I found of her in the dress........

Maddie&EthansMom replied: and another one....

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Wow that is tough. I would get 3T or bigger just to be on the safe side!

MommyToAshley replied: Aimee... Maddie was such a beautiful little flower girl!!!! wub.gif wub.gif She's so precious! Her dress was really pretty! Did you make it? It's encouraging to know that she did well, I hope Ashley will walk down the aisle. smile.gif She will be 20 months old at the time.

I just heard from my MIL that Ashley's dress will be taupe.... isn't that like a brown. EWWWW! I hope it is prettier than it sounds. puke.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

Thank you! She did pretty good. It was my Best Friend's wedding. I was the matron of honor so I walked Maddie down the aisle holding her hand (since she was so young). She doesn't remember it. wink.gif She had a cute little head piece made of flowers that she wore (she didn't wear the bow). I'm sure Ashley will do fine. smile.gif

I didn't make the dress. We have some great stores in Dallas that sells them really cheap. (my best friend's mother bought it) I hope you get a great deal on Ashley's and it is something really cute!
