Ashley gave up her morning nursing!
MommyToAshley wrote: This morning, after Ashley got up, DH went and got her out of bed. She chased him around the house for awhile... they like to play hide 'n seek. And, then she went into the kitchen and stood by the highchair, pointed, and said "yum". I took that as a clue she wanted breakfast.
She still nursed this afternoon, and I can't imagine that she would give up her nursing session right before bedtime. But, she is growing up way too fast.
supermom replied: They do grow up too fast, don't they? And I think the older we are when we have them, the faster time seems to go....
She may suprise you and go back to wanting to nurse again tomorrow morning, Anders teetered back and forth with the naptime one for weeks - one day he would, and then one day he wouldn't.
Hugs to you and hope she stays nursing until you are both ready to quit!!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I think I would be heartbroken if Claudia gave up nursing so soon! We haven't even been nursing for a year, I think I would feel cheated! I'm sure it was probably just a one time thing. Hope she goes back to her regular schedule tomorrow!
aspenblue1 replied: I was heartbroken when Isabella weaned herself.
coasterqueen replied: KWYM!! Kylie refused to nurse from 7 am yesterday til 8 pm last night She took a sip once, but that was all. I tricked her into nursing at bedtime last night. I was soooo freaked out, but then today she has nursed fairly well. WHEW! She had me scared, that was tooo drastic of a change, lol.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That is bitter sweet. It is good that she took to weaning from her morning nursing session so well, but sad in the same sense.
MomToMany replied: {{{HUGS}}} to you, M2A! I know how you are feeling. Sometimes Hannah doesn't want to nurse in the mornings, either, and will go until the afternonn before she does. I offer it to her, and she will just point to it and smack her lips and say Yummy! But some days are better than others, and she will nurse 8 times or more in a day. She's still nursing to sleep at night, but it's getting shorter and shorter. She's also asking for water a lot when she's done, so I think my milk is changing into colostrom already.
Hopefully it was just for one day, and she gets back to normal soon for you, and continues until you both are ready to stop.
More {{{HUGS}}} for you!
amynicole21 replied: Awwww... Hugs to you M2A!! I'm sure this was just a fluke and she'll be back on schedule by today.
This stage is a strange time for bfeeding though... you don't know whether you should offer to nurse them or just let them grow up and wean themselves... I'm so conflicted about it really. I'm not ready to let go yet.
Kaitlin'smom replied: aww sorry I missed this one. Has she given them up completly or was that just a fluke?
CantWait replied: I'm so sorry she missed out today. Maybe it was just a one day thing and she was excited to play with Daddy this morning. Hope she wakes up tomorrow asking for boobie
MommyToAshley replied: Well, I think she is down to just two nursings-- afternoon before her nap and at night before bedtime. She hasn't nursed in the morning for the last three mornings. I think she likes her oatmeal too much.
I don't think I am ready for her to grow up so fast. I love watching her learn new things, but I just can't give up on hanging on to any part of her babyhood that I can!
Kaitlin'smom replied: awww hugs to you. Guess you might be ready for another one soon. J/K take your time and enjoy Ashley, she is so cute and such a smartie. If and when you do have another baby I can just picture Ashley with him/her. She will be the boss (or at least think she is) and very protective. Just thought I would share that mental image I had.....
Jamison'smama replied: M2A--What type of oatmeal will she eat--I am trying desperately to find some things Jamison will eat for breakfast
MommyToAshley replied: She likes the Quaker Instant Oatmeal... She will eat any of the flavors but she really likes the ones with cream in them. It has a little bit of sugar, but she doesn't get any other sugar all day so I don't mind too much. There's a variety box that has Bananas'n Cream, Blueberries'n Cream, Peaches 'n Cream, and Strawberries'n Cream. Peaches'n Cream is her favorite. She'll eat the entire bowl!
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Sniff, Sniff....I know what you mean. ((((HUGS)))
CantWait replied: yummmmmmmy strawberries and cream, must to an american thing, we don't have that flavour here.
