Arrgh... today I got a taste of what it's like - to have a really fussy baby
~Roo'sMama~ wrote: Andrew was almost impossible to keep happy today! He has been constantly wanting to eat since I got up this morning at 8:30, but every time I tried to feed him he acted like he does when he has to burp or has gas and wouldn't stay latched on ~ all he'd do was arch his back and cry, then frantically search for my nipple again. He does that a lot but usually after I burp him it gets better, or if I give him gas drops it will be better the next time. But absolutely nothing was making it better today - it was the most frustrating day ever. Thank goodness for the swing my mom and sisters got me for my baby shower on sunday ~ that worked for him 2 or 3 times today and I don't know what I would have done without it. He's finally sleeping in it again now. I just don't know what the problem was today. I really hope tomorrow is better!
MommyToAshley replied: Sounds like a bad case of gas...poor guy.
I hope he doesn't have reflux... almost sounds like Ashley with her reflux. I hope tonight goes much better.
kit_kats_mom replied: ITA with M2A. Sounds like gas and a growth spurt all rolled into one. Do you have forceful letdown? I know that I do and when Lauren is cluster feeding she gets really frusterated when the milk doesn't just pour into her mouth like she's used too.
MommyToAshley replied: I jsut thought of something else. Could it have been something you ate that gave him gas? With Ashley, I had to avoid chocolate, onions, and green peppers or she would get bad gas pains.
A&A'smommy replied: (((((HUGS))))) that sounds awful I hope he feels better tomorrow!!
coasterqueen replied: I was gonna say growth spurt . He's prime time for one. I know I know, you are saying "didn't he just go through one?" They go through so many in the beginning, but rest assured by 3 months they will start spacing out. Here's a link on growth spurts for you: Growth Spurts
Here's also a link on fussy while nursing: Fussy Baby. It's more than likely the gas and growth spurt causing it but that link will give you different things that can cause it. You can browse through it and see if anything else strikes a chord.
HTH!
paradisemommy replied: my first thought was it may be something you had eaten that is making him gassy and fussy - with taven, i couldn't eat veggies without it upsetting his tummy and making him really gassy..
here's hoping tomorrow is a better day!!!
Josie83 replied: Sara. He must have been having one of those days xx
mammag replied: Poor buddy! Definitely sounds like gas with the back arching. For Cade it was anything red (pizza sauce, spaghetti, salsa) that caused him bad gas. Hope he has a better day!
5littleladies replied: Hugs Sara! I think he's just mad because he didn't get to see his Auntie Jennifer. I agree that it's probably just bad gas combined with a growth spurt. I'm sure he will settle down before you know it. Hang in there!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I hear you!!! Mackenzie had a lot of those bad days, but now that she is older she doesn't have them as often. I hope today goes better for you!!!
angelhair replied: i can relate and sympathize. i know it can be very frusterating, but hang in there, you are among friends who care love dee
moped replied: Ahhhhh that 's what I think too.................my sister will say that all the time if something is wrong with Jack
iluvmysweetiepies replied: ((((HUGS)))) I hope today goes a lot better!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Thanks for all your replies! I haven't been online for a couple of days so I didn't see most of them until now. He's been doing better today and yesterday, so I'm thinking that it was partly something I ate, along with a growth spurt. I do have forcefull letdown, but I didn't that day because he was eating so much my bb's didn't get a chance to refill. He still has to burp a couple times during a feeding and last night he had gas again but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was before. I guess I have to cut down on the frozen pizza - which means I have to start cooking again.
jacobsmama replied: Well I"m glad he is doing better fussy babies aren't fun!
