Are they a lost cause?

coasterqueen wrote: My hips that is. sleep.gif I know my hips didn't spread with Kylie, probably why I had to have a c/s but they spread BIG TIME with Megan. Sad news is I already had super wide hips, big bone structure and too much junk in my trunk before kids, now it's worse. Are my hips ever going to go back? I think I know the answer to that, but they HAVE to!!! They just have to. I know I'm loosing inches in my legs and maybe a bit in my butt (barely though), but nothing in the thighs/hips. When I try on my old clothes I so desperately want to wear I can't get into them because my hips are SO wide! Am I just hanging on to these clothes thinking I'll someday get them up over my wide mass load of hips? bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

Sorry I'm just having a bad clothing day. The clothes I bought back in October for Session are WAY too big in the legs, not the waist but all my old clothes are a bit tight in the legs (but wearable) but can't get them up over my hips. bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

I should just go live in a nudist colony and get over it. wacko.gif

Edit for grammar

ammommy replied: hug.gif They can come back, I promise. Have you tried pilates? It's great for toning.

coasterqueen replied:
No I haven't tried pilates but I'm doing Carmen Electra's Fit to Strip DVD (#2) and it's a great toning/strengthening tape. I'm not sure I have what it takes for pilates from what I've heard. dunno.gif Guess I should rent a tape at the library and find out.

ammommy replied: biggrin.gif If Pilates scares you, here is a good outer thigh/hip exercise. Stand like you are doing a wide squat with legs slightly wider than shoulders. Go into a deep squat (I have to turn my feet at a bit of an angle to do this). As you come up raise one leg into a side lift with it as straight as possible. Squat and repeat with other side. As that gets easy you can add resistance by either holding weights on your thighs or just press down on them with your hands.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well, I was very wide before. I have lost alot of inches in my hips. I think you can. I think it just takes longer for some people. I was a 40 inch waist and I am not sure what my hips were before..but I can loose how wide I am..then anyone can.

I do yoga now and I can tell a huge difference. I know I will never be prechildren..which for me was maybe 110 but I will be smaller.

I think you look GREAT Karen. I have always been so jealous of you!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I hope so. I just did measurments this moring and will do them once a week to see if I am losing inches in the areas I want to, pretty much all over but if I can see that go down that will help

coasterqueen replied:
I think I'm doing that on Carmen's DVD, if I remember, lol. Cool.

coasterqueen replied:
Ah thanks Mel. smile.gif YOU are my inspiration girl, seriously! thumb.gif

I have a fairly tiny waist, it's just these darn hips sitting out there that cause me grief. Like I said, just a bad clothing day. rolleyes.gif

moped replied: Karen, I don't really htink you have big hips from what I have seen, don't be so hard on yourself - LOL, easy for me to say right~

Walk walk walk - I found after Jack we walked a LOT and they really weren't as big - big now but not then - LOL

ammommy replied:
If you have a small waist, then your hips are going to look big whether they are or not. I vaguley remember those days cool.gif For years, I had to take in the waist of all of my pants and skirts. I thought that I was big then, but looking back I was a bit underweight (140ish at 5'8). Just another thought.

coasterqueen replied:
No I'm not being hard on myself at all, seriously, if I could take a pic of me nekked to show you without grossing you and everyone else I would. I have that upside down pear shape thing or whatever you call it going on. SERIOUSLY. Believe me, I wish I didn't. It's a tragedy for sure. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Are you thinking I'm underweight? I'm confused, lol. I am 5'5" and 146.5. The majority of my weight is ALL in my hips, thighs and butt. Seriously. Besides my arms my upper body is just the right size but then you get down to my lower half and it's HUGE. I'm so not being hard on myself. Same thing goes with my mom. Heck, I'd take 146.5 if I was proportionate all the way - up and down. rolleyes.gif

But yes, to get something to fit my hips and butt it means the waist is WAY TOO BIG dry.gif and then I have this big gap in the back of my pants at the top of my butt which looks horrible.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen I'm so sorry you are feeling down. YOu are doing a great job at losing your weight, though. I know once you hit your goal weight you will feel so much better and more than likely your hips WILL shrink. It just takes some time. Megan isn't even a year old yet. wink.gif

I gained a lot more weight with Ethan than I did with Maddie, but in different areas. dry.gif And I fear that I will never lose this flabby stomach. bawling.gif

coasterqueen replied: Thanks Aimee. I'm not really down per se, I just had one of those mornings where I tried EVERYTHING on and nothing worked, ya know. Sucks having to be in the public eye every day and not like what you wear. dry.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: hug.gif That does suck. I remember those days. Nowadays I just wear my fleece pants and a t-shirt or jeans. blush.gif But, when I do want to dress up I feel the same as you...I don't like anything I put on or nothing fits. sad.gif
