They have something like 16 kids now, all biological, and they say they're not DONE yet!!! Whew. And she homeschools all of them...I really gotta respect her for that...I can't imagine being pregnant EVERY year for like 16 years...OW.

Can you imagine?!?

holley79 replied: I saw her and her family on CNN a while back. More power to her. I would be wacko.gif I don't think I could handle being prego every year like that though.

My3LilMonkeys replied: I've seen a few TV specials on them - those are some of the best behaved kids I've seen.

16 is way too many for me - but they seem very happy!

luvbug00 replied: I've seen them over and over since child # 12 . I personaly think it's selfish of them. But that's JMO.

CosmetologyMommy replied: I saw the house they built! It was beatiful. I know they have a very simple lifestyle like no tv, not internet, they make clothes, etc but like happymom, I feel it is a little selfish. I do not know how much money they have though and their kids seem happy. Her body must be so tired through!

Brias3 replied: I've seen the last two specials on them. WOW! I would go wacko.gif

luvmykids replied: They do a thing with their kids thats kind of neat, the older ones are buddied up with a younger one and kind of mentor them. Some might say thats the parents job but considering how happy and well behaved the children are, I've gotta give it to em!

ediep replied: I have seena few shows about them.....its crazy!!

crj2006 replied: I've seen them on DHC a couple times. that woman really has it together!
I wouldn't want that many kids, but they seem very happy with such a large family so more power to them! and they are debt free too! I think there whole story is so amazing!

~*Just Me*~ replied: I don't agree with some of the methods they use, but it's their lives, and they can do what they want!

~~*Missi*~~ replied: yes i believe that woman is a saint. i know i would be a DRUNK!
lol

ashtonsmama replied: I agree pretty much with what you all said! Hey, if she can handle it, and they're not all on welfare or something, more power to them! Whew-it makes me tired just thinking about it...
I like the buddy system thing though-

Maybe I'll use that with my kids...then maybe I won't have to do anything...
HMMMMMM...
NOT!

MamaJAM replied: I have major issues with the 'buddy system' they use....let's just leave it at that.

Personally - I have nothing against large families...no matter what the size (as long as the parents are taking care of their family -- meaning they are not on assistance programs, etc). There are some large families in mine and DH's background...and we have 5 kids of our own.

J-rod replied: as long as they are happy thats the main thing... but to me its not right....cause how can you possibly share your attention and time with 16 kids.....you always have a baby that needs you all the time, toddlers, etc... i just dont see how they develop so well.... but hey i guess they know something i dont...they have 16 kids...im only expecting our first.

mckayleesmom replied: Well, Im glad that they make it work, but like some of the others...I think they are selfish also. How would you like to be one of the older kids in that family? They probably end up with alot of the responsibility for children they didn't chose to have.

Chiflata2003 replied: I LOVE discovery health also. At home (houston, tx) it was on reg cable, but unfortunately here (louisiana) I have to upgrade to digital to see that channel, and that isn't fair at all. So for the past 7 months I missed my channel.

I have seen it when they first came on as 15 kids pregnant again. I wanted to see the new one about them completeing the house and showing number 16 I believe. I would never have the patience to have that many kids.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I think it's great. It wasn't all that long ago that having that many kids was completely normal. My grandma gave birth to 18 children, and I know a man who came from a family of 21 kids. God has blessed the Duggar family with a big family and IMO we shouldn't judge them for it. And maybe the older kids in those large families have more responsibilities than families with 2 or 3 children have, but I don't think that's a bad thing at all. It's just life. I know that in today's society kids aren't really expected to do much and don't have any responsibilities until they move out, but there was a time when the kids worked almost as hard as the parents - the girls helped their mom keep the house and the boys helped their dad with the outside chores - and they were happy, well adjusted kids who grew up to be good responsible people.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying that today's kids are all going to pot because they don't have to work - I don't think it's necessary for them to be able to grow up to be good people, I just don't think we should feel sorry for the older Duggar kids. I think they were pretty lucky to be born into such a special family - and if you asked them they'd probably say the same thing. smile.gif

5littleladies replied:
ITA thumb.gif You said it beautifully Sara!

KingMom replied:
Well put, I agree. I've seen two of the specials on them and would watch another if they make it.

ashtonsmama replied:
I'm with you!
