Any other ladies cut the grass
Our Lil' Family wrote: I almost just died....or so it felt like it. I decided to be sweet and cut the grass for DH....at noon....in about 95 degrees....so dumb. Thankfully I ran out of gas so I couldn't do the back yard. Now I'm not talking a riding lawn mower or even a self propelled push...no ma'am...this is all Mama Power! I think DH can finish the back tonight, once I fill the gas can.
I know Tara cuts with an old fashioned pusher...no gas involved. That's probably worse.
msoulz replied: The best way to get out of mowing the lawn is to have a picky husband and do a "bad" job! Or so I have heard ....
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I have done it, but Scotty prefers to do it himself. It's gotten so tall now that I actually had a dream the other night that I mowed it! LOL! He's never home and just doesn't have the time.
coasterqueen replied: I used to push mow 1.5 acres every week growing up. I swore I'd never push mow again, lol. Now I ride 3.5 acres of land (well 2 of it, other is woods). Takes a LONG time to finish. I LOVE LOVE mowing the lawn. My ONLY time I don't have someone nagging me. Although sometimes when Ryan isn't here and the kids are and I have to get mowing done I make them stay outside where I can see them while I mow and that's when they nag me every 5 minutes. A month ago I broke the mower and had to push one hilly area and thought I was gonna die!
mckayleesmom replied: Wait....some of you have husbands that mow the lawn?.......lol. Like someone else said..dh is never home to do it so its easier to just get it done. I'm loving Ft. Irwin because there is only a tiny patch of grass in our backyard.
gr33n3y3z replied: I always liked to cut grass
PrairieMom replied: I do all that stuff. Since DH works 80+ hours a week, ( I figured it out yesterday) all home upkeep is completely up to me. I don't ALWAYS push mow the yard, if it gets to tall it is impossible to do. I prefer it, but it doesn't always work out. I have a self propelled gas mower I use the other times. but, it just happened to come up in conversation the other day, DH hasn't mowed the lawn in over 2 years. I even put Charlie in the moby wrap and did it last year when he was a teeny infant.
Now, here is the real question, who can replace a drippy bathroom faucet? cause thats my next project.
A&A'smommy replied: I have never cut grass... EVER! Although I wish I could but we share lawn mower with my inlaws and we keep it at their house so we have to go down the road (they live about a block down the street) so riding Autumn up a busy street on a lawnmower probably isn't a good idea... and I don't know how to hook up a trailor. BUT I'm not sure if I would actually do it if we had one here...
kit_kats_mom replied: I have but I don't like it. it's too dang hot here.
coasterqueen replied: Hmmm, I'm not sure, but it can't be that hard. I know how to sweat pipes, but haven't dealt with a leaky faucet. Is it leaking at the pipes or from the faucet itself (like dripping)? Growing up with a father who really wanted sons instead of daughters...I had to learn to do a lot. I even had to teach Dh how to sweat pipes when we moved into our first house. I think I scared him a bit.
PrairieMom replied: the faucet its self is dripping into the basin. I don't think I need to do any sweating for that do I ? Maybe just replace a gasket or something?
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Dh always mows ours. I actually haven't mowed a lawn since I moved out when I was 18. When I was a kid I did it a lot. We had a good sized yard in the country... I don't know how many acres but it took me about 2 hours on our rider if I had it on top speed, which I usually did. I've never used a push mower and I'm too chicken to try. Dh likes mowing the lawn though, or I probably would have figured out how to do it by now.
Our Lil' Family replied: Lots of you ladies do, or have...I'm impressed! I normally don't but I was being super sweet today....maybe because I'm going out of town this weekend....but I'll never admit that's the reason!
coasterqueen replied: No sweating for that, unless you have to replace any copper piping. It probably is a gasket. The way faucets are so cheaply made these days and cheap in general, it may be easier to just replace the faucet, but that's just me.
luvmykids replied: I agree, I had to do that in my kitchen and it was super easy. Just shut off the water supply first
I haven't ever mowed but I will be next spring. Hopefully my dad will feel sorry for me and give me his nice gas mower
Calimama replied: We don't even OWN a lawn mower. We live on base and they have gardeners for that! I can use our weed eater like a pro though.
coasterqueen replied: I will do everything else when it comes to yardwork, etc, but I will NOT learn how to use a weed eater. I know I could do it, but I told Ryan I have to hold back on one thing or else I'll never need him for anything. I'm pretty sure I'd whack my toes, though.
PrairieMom replied: yeah, I'm thinking it should be a simple un screw, replace type thing. Seems real easy when I think about it in my head... the copper pipe is fine.
Swood75 replied: I almost always cut the grass..I don't mind doing it though.. As for the leaky faucet,I just got done installing a new kitchen faucet the other day.. It might only be an O ring that is causing it to drip..You CAN do it!!
PrairieMom replied: yeah, I'm thinking a few youtube videos and a trip to the home depot and I will be good to go.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: So won't let me cut it... this is the first house he's owned and he's all macho manly man about mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, bbq'ing and other things he considers manly. Not that I'm complaining...
moped replied: There are a few reasons I got married. One of them being that I do NOT cut the grass or shovel snow! Now I had to once this year because tom was away and I had to shovel snow a few times cuz he got gout, but there has to be a pretty good reason for me to do it!
CantWait replied: I love cutting the grass. The only thing I don't like doing is getting the gas for the mower. DH was suppose to do this 2 weeks ago, but needless to say it's not done and our grass is starting to look a little funky.
