ADDICTED TO ELMO!!

3_call_me_mama wrote: I'm going to go insane ( i think)! Cameron is ADDICTED to Elmo. It wouldn't be bad if he only wanted to watch Sesame Street on occasion, but everything is Elmo!!!! It started a while ago at his birthday. We were planning his party and in toys r us he found an Elmo pinata and cried and cried when we tried to put it back. So we figured why not, he can have an elmo party if he wants. It snowballed from there!!!! Now everywhere we go he totes around this stuffed elmo that someone gave him, andin the grocery store he sees the elmo juices (apple and eve brand) and the elmo fruit snacks and wants them (solely because they have elmo on them ) We also have a computer gaem of baby sesame street that teaches letters and numbers and stuff and also sounds for very young children (i think it's rated like 9 months and up orsomething). Everytime he walks past the computer or someone is on the computer he screams ELMO and points at the screen until you either turn off the Computer to which he throws a fit and cries. He woke up from his afternoon nap and was saying Elmo, where's elmo (looking for his stuffed toy.). Also last week he woke up one night screaming "no Elmo, mama No elmo" and kept sobbing until we found an elmo toy and ended up watching Elmo in Grouchland at 2 in the morning unitl he fell back asleep. ( We never give in to television requests after 730 at night but it was the last resort He came up the spiral staircase and ran to the tv in our living room and took the elmo movie off the shelf and put it in the VCR and said MAMA ON Elmo, pease and gave me a kiss. How could we resist!) I'm glad he likes sesame street and really identifies with things he has learned a lot from it (it's the only thing we let him watch besides Blues clues which we thankfully have taken a break from!!) like most of his shapes and a couple numbers, as well as all the characters names but we are going CRAZY!! rolling_smile.gif rolleyes.gif wacko.gif Any one Elses little one have odd addictions like this??

~CrazieMama~ replied: lol, I feel for you......Brianna really likes her dolls. She carried them and her blue's clues doll around the house. And don't take either away from her!!!! lol rolling_smile.gif

mummy2girls replied: LOL. That is so cute. jenna isnt addicted yet but i think because she is only 14 months. im now rethinking about ordering elmo in grouchland for her.LOL

she is addicted to her blanket though..LOL. she has to have that everywhere she goes..LOL

chloe&tysmommy replied: Yes, yes, yes! I think I'd prefer Elmo over BARNEY though....ahhhhhhh

LOL we bought her a couple Barney movies (and had some given to us) and she'll walk around the house carrying the Barney video cases! It's kinda cute but I'm a little sick of Barney but she just loves him...after the movies over and he sings the 'I love you' song she tries to sing it with him but just mumbles laugh.gif She screams and goes crazy it I say "do you want to watch barney?" LOL
She'll watch other cartoons but Barney is her fav!

We haven't bought her a Barney doll--but I'm sure if she had one she would carry him around all day. She has her favorite Blankie that she carries around EVERYWHERE though........

kimberley replied: with James it was Blues Clues. he still watches the movies and wears his blue sweater. wub.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Katherine has been a huge Elmo fan for awhile now. Our local grocery store has a huge elmo balloon in the bakery. We walk near it and you can tell exactly when she sees him because she runs over pointing and saying "Ro-Ro" over and over again until we bring him down for a kiss. tongue.gif

She also has LOTs of Elmo dolls/toys and 4 of the elmo's world videos. She loves her Elmo's. They go for walks, drives, stroller rides etc with us. Actually, they go everywhere with us. wub.gif

CantWait replied: OH my!!!!!!! ohmy.gif Robbie didn't really have an addiction, but he loved Barney when he was a baby. He had 4 movies, bedset, barney talking doll etc....it was crazy wacko.gif

MommyToAshley replied: LOL! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif That is too funny!

Ashely doesn't have an addiction either. She likes Wiggles, Animal Jam, and Barney but she doesn't watch it very often. She doesn't have any security items either.

A&A'smommy replied: awww omg he sounds like a little doll!!!! Kids are sooo funny!!!! wub.gif rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied: Kylie was OVERLY addicted to ELMO! So of course what did we do? We bought her everything ELMO for Christmas. Well, I think that did the trick because now she barely plays with any of the ELMO things we got her for Christmas dry.gif . She still loves watching Sesame Street every day and loves to watch ELMO dvd's but won't play with any of the ELMO toys, well on occassion she will.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Maddie loved Barney. She still does. It didn't bother me so much b/c it kept her busy with something. She had 2 stuffed barneys that sang. They got sooooo annoying. She eventually went on to something else for a year, but this past week has picked up those Barney dolls again. Ugh! tongue.gif I know how you feel.

One of her other favorites is Strawberry Shortcake so she wants everything that has a strawberry on it. Strawberry flavored soda...you name it. wacko.gif

jcc64 replied: Greetings from another family suffering with Elmo-addiction. My oldest son made a cd of all Corey's favorite Elmo songs, and now everytime we're in the car, if she's not sleeping, we HAVE to listen to it, over and over and over... I have to say, though, I think I would draw the line at the 2am tv screenings though.

amynicole21 replied: Sophia doesn't pay attention really to the shows we put on for her. She's seen Elmo a few times, but doesn't get excited or anything. She sort of likes Dora, but it doesn't hold her attention for long. rolleyes.gif

Wow, Cameron has great language skills!! Sophia didn't start putting sentances together like that until a week or so ago! thumb.gif

DansMom replied: I've been trying to get Daniel interested in Sesame Street, but he just doesn't get into it yet. He's starting to notice Elmo, and recognize him in various contexts, and he has an Elmo flap-book that he loves. But he doesn't have any character addictions yet.

3_call_me_mama replied:
He has an AMAZING vocabulary and talks WAY too much (Like his mom my DH says!!)
